Carsormyr, I don’t think anyone is claiming that Guardians are bad in 1v1 or even 1v2. (Probably someone is, but that’s not the point.)
In small fights, Guardians are amazing. But in zergs and sieges, we really can’t do that much. In melee you get killed if you’re not playing smart and are lucky. At range our playstyle isn’t interesting and not very effective.
So, do tell (genuine inquiry) how Guardians can be very effective in sieges. (And with very effective I mean both actual effectiveness in defeating the enemy and getting proper rewards for it.)
Wall of Reflection to bounce back projectiles to enemies on walls. Using the scepter #2 does decent damage (4k for me). The scepters slow auto attack actually has an advantage believe it or not. In that all the orbs tend to hit very close together and can cause some serious damage before the person reacts. Admittedly you do have to be in the right spot, which is a pain.
But obviously in sieges you will take on more support responsibilities because that’s what were best at. Providing buffs, Healing and protection, while dealing damage in between. In sieges I always get gold in contribution and not to mention downing more than my share of enemies.
I think people get a little too focused on what others are doing instead of what they can be doing.
I have 3428 kills and 616 badges of honor in WvW. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Guardian and its a monster in WvW. It can win in 1v1 against any class in the game and it can still be very useful during sieges. I’ve come out on top in a few 2v1 situations and even in a 3v1 situation (screenshot). How many other classes can boast that?
I’m not an awesome player by any stretch so that means anyone else can do the same things I have done.

The rest are exotic rewards for finishing 60-70 zones.

hi, What stats you use in armor whith this build?
Power, Vitality, and Toughness while trying to keep my critical hit chance at at least 30%
I honestly couldn’t care less if it’s a longbow or a rifle or a flippin’ sling.
Well there’s any number of weapons they could add to the game that could fit the theme of the Guardian. Just add some pretty blue light to its attacks and voila, Guardian weapon.
- Composite Longbow
- Sling
- Javelin
- Repeating Crossbow
- Throwing Axes
- Throwing Knives
- Shurikens
- Darts
The list goes on and on. I can’t wait to see what new weapons they add to the game. Just depends on how long it will take before that happens.
I’m from Crystal Desert, just to clarify something with our current match up. When we were initially matched with Blackgate and Gate of Madness it was very competitive. Basically each server had capped their own map with Eternal being split evenly.
Then something weird happened. We started pushing in and very slowly gaining ground on them. Then it seemed once we capped a few towers and camps that a bunch of people just stopped coming into WvW. There was just less opposition in general and over the last day or so they’ve been completely contained to their spawn. Which would only serve to discourage anyone from joining WvW at this point.
Which sucks, because when we started it was an evenly matched fight and was fun to play.
I think it should stay as is. It makes sense that Asura, being smaller, would create a smaller shield bubble.
Yeap, it makes totally sense that you’re kittened for the rest of the game for making a mistake at the very first minute you played the game, like choosing the wrong race…
Calm down, it doesn’t even make a difference. This is getting blown way out of proportion. So the shield is a little smaller, who cares. It still does exactly what the other race’s shields do and aside from a few VERY situational fights it means nothing.

And you are forgetting those are on a 30 and 40 seconds CD. Warriors got a godmode signet on 48 seconds CD lol, AND IT IS A ELITE SKILL
Yeah, when your weapon skills have the same CD as an Elite skill, something’s wrong. The CD on the shield’s abilities need to be reduced. Or the skills themselves need to be amped up in order to match the length of the CD.
Wow I can’t believe what I’m reading. Guardian is flat out awesome for WvW. I just got my 3100th kill in WvW today. I have only lost once in 1v1 (since adjusted my skills) and I have won a number of 2v1 fights.
Wall of Reflection is amazing, so is the support tome. Nothing quite like healing to full when they’re already having a hard time killing you. Its going to be a very long time until I get bored enough to play another class in WvW.

I’m not a fan of the hammer personally. As I primarily WvW, the thing is just way too slow, the abilities are cumbersome and the range on the RoW needs to be wider (not to mention it has to ACTUALLY trap an enemy).
The Greatsword is superior in every respect.
I agree that the CD on the shields abilities are a little steep for what it offers.
But I use the scepter + Shield in WvW and it does really well. Between the bubble from the shield and Wall of reflection its amazing for sieges.
Now if only they would let us block Treb fire with it…
