Apologies if this has already been posted, had a look to find other posts..
Basically as title states: I click on BLTP icon or on the BLTP npc and it will not load up.
No yellow swirly icon as it usually does. This has been going on now since new patch it seems. Sometimes when i log out the game and back it it is resolved but today i log in and out and still no fix.
Its a Radeon 280x/7970 series problem. Many people have it. Try to contact AMD to try to push them into looking into it.
I see, I ran stress tests and no errors. I read further through forums and came across past posts with this issue. Will see about getting this info to AMD, previous gpu I had was nvidea and not encountered this problem before.
..I have also checked I have the most up to date drivers
I recently bought a AMD Radeon 7970 video card and for the past week had no problems in game until today. I get flickering terrain and noticed textures doing a ‘lighning’ effect e.g. on roofs. This seems to happen randomly and then seems fine. I was logged in 5 mins into the game and the walls were flickering at Vigil’s Keep. Worst flickering glitches were doing the Legendary Karka queen event. I had been playing for perhaps a few hours when this occured, once event was finished no more flickering.
I have run Valley benchmark for 1 hour and temperature was stable at 75degrees. Played Skyrim on ultra settings over an hour and had no proplems.
I submitted my info to Guild Wars 2 Technical Support. I have since received a reply and they will look at it from there.
I can post my dxdiag and crash logs but idk if they will get looked at on here
Finding my all sounds go apart from music then I dc, this happens in wvw and even in Lion’s Arch. I have submitted error reports but had no response, really would like some help with this. I have done the gw2 repairs and reinstalled gw2 but no luck.
I have noticed my IP address changes occasionally which means I need to authenticate this log-in attempt by the email. Not sure if it is a random ip change whilst connected or when my connection drops.
I’m really getting frustrated with the lack of support from Arenanet. At least with WoW there was in game ticket which got help even if waiting days/hours for response. So many people with same problems with crashes and freezes.
I know this isn’t really helpful at all, but I know GW2 doesn’t crash at all for me.
Firstly, run a -repair
Next, verify drivers and Windows are fully up-to-date.
- You should be using drivers from the actual GPU vendor, not Windows Update, or the computer OEM (in other words, if you have an AMD card, get drivers from AMD, not Acer); there’s rare situations where this is not ideal
- Run Windows Update, multiple times after updating until it finds no updatesNext, do a chkdsk (run “chkdsk C: /F /R /spotfix /offlinescanandfix” without quotes from an Administrative Command Prompt and reboot). This will take a long time depending on HDD size, so I’d do it overnight
Should probably do a memory test too (a Linux LiveCD or a LiveCD of memtest86+ would work fine).
Hi thanks for the reply, been ill recently so not been on here for a while. I reinstalled windows 8 and undated all drivers, gpu drivers from the Nvidia site, windows updates etc. Done diskchecks. Ran stress tests for my gpu and cpu, reinstalled GW2. Ran mem tests too. Also had msi afterburner running to see if any probs with overheating which there arn’t.
So far had one crash this week. That error report, ‘’a serious error has occured that prevernts the program from continuing to run’’
has occured fairly randomly in the past, e.g after environment sound is stuck on loop or when changing graphics in game to ‘auto detect.’
Thanks, Cath

ok I reinstalled windows, updated drivers, reinstalled gw2. Played wvw for about an hour. Then dc’d and error report. Really would appreciate someone from Arenanet to help me out here.
Hi Sirsquishy I did a dxdiag on here a few months back, Anet said to do gw2 repair which I did. All gpu drivers up to date and it seems random when client freezes.
Hi Ok I Did It, it varies on how it decides to crash lol. Sometimes I dc completely and an error report thing comes up, done that one about 10 times. Sometimes the environment sound gets stuck and I cannot exit the game I have to ctrl alt del and restart pc as task manager cannot close it either. Or I get epic lag, game freezes and have to restart. All of these happen anywhere. I choose ‘auto detect’ on graphics option in game although I tend to put on ‘best performance’ in wvw and events.
GPU is GTX650, i5 processor quad core, 8 GB ram.
I have had lots of client crashes and dc’s, idk whats causing it, wish i could help!
I have submitted tickets in game and posted on here about client freezing and crashing. I have not had any support from Anet about how to fix this and even done stress tests, checked hardware, virus and malware scan, anything i can think of and still this problem persists. I understand Anet busy getting through tickets and resolving issues but for me I can’t play this game anymore and it’s a shame as I have enjoyed playing.
I created a topic few days ago, needed to delete it but found could only delete my posts in the topic but not the topic title. Unless I’m missing something?
This week Blacktide are vastly outnumbered again. FR pretty much owning all of wvw. Some great fights though, good to see Blacktide making an effort.
Hi Noss, I know how you feel. I play wvw mostly these days and Blacktide are struggling against epic enemy zergs. As much as I enjoy playing with my friends and ppl I meet I have often considered a transfer…
Enjoying this week’s matchup, although DL vastly outnumber BT and RoS. At the moment DL own all of wvw…
Got the letter now, took a while.
‘Read the letter from Gixx.’ I did not receive the letter, my inbox is not full and so cannot continue story. Is the letter late or is this bugged? Any chance this can be sent again?
Affects both my USB keyboard and wireless keyboard, wonder if its a windows 8 bug…
This has been happening now for past few weeks, but certain keys on my keyboard stop working. The C, V, H and / stop working! Happens randomly and it affects both my wireless and wired keyboards. Not pressed anything accidently for this to happen. Then when I exit GW2 none of the keys work at all (like on browsers) so I restart and its back to normal. What is going on here?
Yeah l looked at the link! I updated the drivers too, went back onto gw2 after the repair and noticed a difference!
Just doing this now, thanks for the help, hope this solves the issue!
Hi Cath – To start simple, I’d suggest deleting the local.dat file and following with a repair. You can find your local.dat file by navigating to Documents\Guild Wars 2. Your crash log (ArenaNet.log file) should be located in the same location. You can also run repair by following the steps below:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select “Run as Administrator.”
Allow the repair to run and once completed, “Right-click” “GW2.exe” or your Guild Wars 2 Shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.”
Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.
Hope this helps!
I have also looked for a crash log file, but none there? Also Waldo had 16gb ram wow! Nice! so if he has this problem with crashing surely not a ram problem?
I want to upgrade the ram but can’t at the moment. I turn background processes off when I run GW2. I tend to not have browers or other applications running in the background. Unless there is some sneaky program trying to run.. Will investigate this. Thanks for the help.
How do I check crash log? Not done that before, also I tried to close the GW2 program from task manager but says not responding and will not close. Thanks for the reply. Cath
PC is new, Nvidia gtx 650, i5 processor, 4GB RAM. Had this pc since April and had no problems until recently.
Not had this problem before playing GW2, (played since release) but since saturday I have been having game freezes and crashing. Basically the screen goes black and I cannot exit the game. This is happening a few times a day. I can’t even close the application from desktop, I have to restart my computer! I have looked at tech support and changed my nvidia settings but this still happens. Another person in my guild has this happening frequently. Is there anyway to resolve this? Thanks.
