Guild Wars 2

I just made a Charr ele after this outfit patch, since I can finally make a Charr Ele who looks good but I want to pvp eventually, and my past level 1 practice spvp eles were disasters. I honestly hate the idea of dual wielding daggers, but I don’t mind so much Scepter/Dagger, Dagger/Focus, Staff, or Scepter Focus (just thematically I guess). My question is, is D/D the only viable pvp? 99.9% of Ele’s seem to run with that, and i’d like to bring my fat beastman magicman into PvP, but all my friends say expecting to PvP on an elementalist is a huge mistake i’m going to regret (at least coming from an engineer, where pvp is just me killing large masses by myself).

Anyway, the weaponskills thus far are so random and jumbled to me. It seems that staff is designed for AOE, and thats easy to tell.. but everything else is odd. Daggers you might consider close range, but have lots of support.. and same with focus and scepter.. Its just a big jumble of all sorts of ranges and damage ranges. What is it that makes D/D the be all end all for everybody? I don’t get it.

I have a level 80 Engy and want either a ranger or necro. I like pets and being a minion master but also the ranged DPS of a ranger is enticing. In D3 I have been stuck back and forth on a witch doctor and demon hunter as well.. its always the battle of the summoning minion man and the archer. What class right now is in a better place for the whole of the game? (pve and all pvp types)

Option 1: Warrior, Ranger, Mesmer. Option 2: Warrior, Thief, Mesmer.

Mesmer, Ranger, Warrior?

Mesmer has Staff, Scepter, Focus, Pistol.
Ranger has Shortbow, Longbow, Sword, Horn, Axe, Torch.
Warrior has Rifle, Greatsword, Mace, Hammer, Shield.

Either warrior or engineer is required, because they are the only classes capable of using rifles. However, you must choose either thief or ranger for medium armor because you need the short bow, so engineer is never an option.

If you go for the ranger, you need to choose the mesmer, because neither the ranger nor the warrior can use pistols.

If you go for the thief, you must also choose the mesmer, because you need a class which can use torches.

So the two possible solutions are:
— Warrior, Ranger, Mesmer
— Warrior, Thief, Mesmer

Your logical reasoning is beautiful. You got it in just before I posted it. Engineer and Guardian are way off limits

For anyone struggling with the other: You are not allowed to pick Engineer or Guardian. If you pick engineer, you disable the other two classes in Medium Armor who use Shortbows, the only users of shortbows.

If you pick Guardian, you force Engineer.. and engineer is bad.

You’re missing pistol.

Swap out Necro for Guardian and Ranger for Thief.

That won’t help him because you need one of each armor type.

My answer.

Your missing a one handed type weapon that makes banging noises.

However, these three classes must cover all available weapon types, and all available armor types.

I am placing space to protect you from reading below posts before someone writes down the answers. I’d encourage you not to post the direct answers, but any cool tips or knowledge it helps you figure out. After a few hours ill post neat facts about the different combinations and logics for figuring out why certain classes cannot be picked. Unless someone else does

Hammers are the only weapon assigned to only two classes. Why are guild wars Engineers the only Engineers of all history incapable of using hammers? Give them one more option ;D

Also, you have whips in the game as a weapon but not assigned to any classes. They are very naturey and evil at the same time, so why not throw them to Rangers/Necros? Necros need one extra 2H option, especially a melee attack, and Rangers might not be short on weapons but it just feels right for the two beasty tamey guys to have whips. I guess since hammer went to a third class whips should too, but no idea what.

Advices are good. I like to use stick to attack.. big sharp stick. Engineer not have big sharp stick.. (plus I have engy!!11)

thanking for assistance! Warrior has good option to goomba stomp. Guardian have fireballs like mario too is guardian goomba stomp and dragoon boots!!?

hello i want to goomba stomp people like some heroic mario and final fantasy dragoon hybrid. What class does I play for this? I want to be manly so I think a platewearer.. but I like some magical stuff thrown in and I want to be a sylvari since they are tree people and I watch a lot of bob ross so I like trees. Guardians have some magic but will I be able to goomba stomp people? Sadly I can’t use spears and javalins like a true man but I guess I can underwater. =(

edit: i do like swords, and I like rifles and guns but I also like staff.. which doesn’t help because no class is all three of those. i like sticks but no stick is here for guild wars.. i very much like stick to attack!!!

I got GW1 day of release, and in GW2 have the stone and can go there to the hall of monuments but can’t get anything from the npc. All I have is my guild wars 1 account linked which has two characters on it, a pvp character monk and a pve elementalist I went maybe almost to the end of the game with. Supposedly I should at least have 3 points when linking my accounts.

Anything else I am missing?

/age its not just for your char but acct too!

I would like one natural weapon that is a melee option and Engineers and hammers just make beautiful sense.. Plus with respect to other weapons such as Greatswords/Staves etc 3-4 classes can use each but only 2 classes have a hammer.. why can’t a third, namely, the engineer!

So my guild wars and guild wars 2 accounts are linked and I wanted to obtain my hall of monuments coat but after getting in there with my stone the historian says that I am not from the past.. is there a bug that causes it to not work for some people not being able to claim their HoM rewards?
