Best MMO game ever

Its the best game ever until you’ve gotten used to it and start “seeing” technical flaws that really dont make much sense.

Its a good game sure, but the new player buzz quickly dies down in a month or so and then you start to question seemingly odd design flaws like “Why cant i zoom out further or zoom in FPS mode” and “After doing it once or twice, i think i’ll tab out and watch something while i auto-spam this champion”. Also my personal favorite “So we cant have UI mods huh? Play the game not the mods huh? Look how long it took you to finally update the black market! That problem wouldve been solved WEEK ONE without any need for development sources! Just because people have seen a cluttered Warcraft screenshot with some dude and his bazillion mods does not mean we all HAVE TO play like that!! Do we not like options anymore!! furious rant” and then you just get angry and take a break.

Then every so often, maybe check in see how the game is doing. Try to find fun where there isnt any. Me and the misses discovered EOTM and its quick leveling. We essentially power leveled some characters and had no urge to play them at max. Why? Nothing fulfilling. Nothing substantial. Nothing that drives us to continue grinding gear.

Anet does great on environments. Gameplay events are awesome… however you eventually get bored of “zerging” the enemy to win. Dungeons arent really that interesting even the first go. Storytelling isnt exactly their strong suite. You eventually get bored of fighting Skritt, Human, Charr, Harpie, Norn, and the same essential mobs with different name tags. You also question living story. Rushing content to meet a deadline only to take it away shortly after makes you question who’s running the show. Id imagine its the same person who doesnt post up more stuff to buy on the black market (ya know, the only source of income). Its also the same guy who thought taking AWAY items from the market is a good idea. How many grocery stores take away apples because they’re like “we want apples to be special”? Exactly. Sadly i was all for spending money on the black market. When i finally got said money, i looked at the prices. $20 for this or that. Overpriced here and there. It screamed desperation.. I didnt spend a dime that day, i was saddened.

Of course all this is an opinion. I was like you though. Greatest MMO etc etc and it is great. It just has the potential to be greater which is sadly, not going to happen from the looks of it.

Seemingly no input from Dev to Player is pretty much a red flag in my opinion. Id quite honestly love a sub option if it means new dungeons, mobs, areas, classes for *sake been playing the same classes for two years with minor changes.

Hi all. First topic on these forums. I just wanted to come here and say that GW2 is the best MMO game ever. I don’t care what anyone says. I know there are some people that come on here who bash the game because they are not happy with this or that or want to mention they are “leaving” the game because of this or that but whatever. Maybe they don’t appreciate a good game when they see one and find excuses instead of finding different ways to have fun with it. I want to change the scenery a bit here and say thanks Anet for the best MMO game and experience ever! Keep it up and looking forward to see what’s next in the world of Tyria!

I even still play GW1 from time to time and that is also one of the best game’s ever too!

What is "Match My Level" For?

So what im getting from all this is, its supposed to simplify the search for gear but fails by giving you a level range instead of matching my actual level

Glad i didnt miss anything, kinda had me worried.

Just wow. Anyone else remember...

It kind of hurts to watch that. Beautiful landscape that looks great from far away, a village that will stay rescued for all of 2 minutes.. I just couldnt. Guild wars is a great game but that video is really all hype. I guess it did its job in that case.

In the aftermath of the September patch I just want to post this.

http://youtu.be/FU1JUwPqzQY

Does anyone remember that? I’m sure Arenanet doesn’t. Just past the one minute twenty mark seems very fitting.

The more I read peoples responses to the patch the more you realize that Arenanet is drifting from it’s original statement, but not because its established base is shifting back to last generation gaming but the only reasons I can find for this happening is because the release in China.

Arenanet, if you released this patch as a means of combining the two game version (effectively stating to your established base that the Chinese game community is more important than your original mission statement or the already three million or so Guild Wars 2 product buyers) then have the balls to come out and say it for what it is. It may only affect low level areas (now) but you’re already drifting from the premise a lot of people brought your game for.

And how long until this stretches beyond the starter areas? How long before your actions to impress the Chinese market screw over further the market that has supported you for two years?

Above is just my opinion but you have to start thinking: what are they going to screw over change next?

What is "Match My Level" For?

Searched around and i didnt find anything on it.

I originally thought it was to easily set your purchase level to your characters level but thats not the case considering it picks your level range. For example im level 60, when i click match my level it sets my levels to 55-65.. of course id set it to 60 for 60 gear since i cant wear anything higher.

So what exactly is this for? Can i wear gear in my “level range” or am i missing something? Semi-New to the game.

Suggestion for addons.

I really do believe guild wars needs to allow addons. Look how long the UI has been lacking. Its been over a year and the auction house hasnt been properly fixed, i cannot remove the flames at the bottom of the screen, i cant shrink my icons or enlarge them, i cant hide certain ui elements, and i cannot zoom out as far as i want. The list goes on throughout the game.

Ive only been playing for a few months and i love this game and it has crazy potential. Its just incredibly saddening to see so much development time pushed on events that will be gone in a week instead of BASIC ui functionality that will be here forever.

Now im sure there will be plenty that will cry “no addons” because they had dps issues back in warcraft. Or im sure its because you may be on the “it takes hours to fix your ui” bandwagon. Anyone who actually knows how to setup addons will tell you that its highly dependent on what you want. Me and my wife would take maybe 20 minutes total ONCE to set them up and thats it in warcraft.

I just hope they consider at least UI modifications. If you (the developers) wont fix sorting / customization issues, at least allow players the ability to fix it.

I remember reading the devs saying they dont want players to “play the ui”. We arent playing the ui, we wish to fight against it.

The Queens Pavilion no exp / loot?

I just started playing a few months ago and ive never been into the last queens pavilion but this version i noticed the vets arent giving exp or any loot? Otherwise think it may be a bug so i decided to report it. I completed one event for around an hours time and got a few greens from a completion chest. I honestly cant tell if this is intended or what but id imagine rewarding the player for such a massive event is a good thing no?

I also just realized that wouldnt the new chinese players notice this too? If so, wouldnt that be a turn off from the game? Id be wondering what the point was if i wasnt at least a little rewarded.

Feedback on clothing and mini's.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

A fair warning if it matters, ive been playing off and on for a few months now. Still new as in ive never done 80 anything except for hitting 80 on an engineer and stopping right after. I play with my wife mainly, small guild of two, enjoying the game. After reading about the feature pack i was saddened to see nothing mentioned about clothing and mini’s.

Feedback on mini’s: Im sure its been stated before. Im not sure if its been asked. Will mini’s be fixed in the feature pack? At the moment they dont keep up with your character and i think they actually die. I know they despawn when way-pointing to different zones sometimes. I feel if mini’s were given a little love with some QoL changes, the market for them would increase. A few suggestions..

- Keep up with your hero, no more lagging behind.
- Hero Panel tab so you can have your nice collection ready for summoning.
- Mini’s are unkillable.. I believe they die but it may have just despawned.
- Mini’s stick with their master when using a waypoint.
I feel if those changes were made, mini’s would be worth the time to collect.

Feedback on clothing: I’m honestly surprised i didnt find anything on this. Recently my wife was checking out the new hairstyles with a makeover kit and she noticed her outfit looked wildly different when she was checking out the male hairstyles. Ive always known there was a difference, but this honestly surprised me.

http://i.imgur.com/debM5HD.jpg

Im just wondering why so much detail went into female clothing yet males have (in my opinion) bland designs. Earlier armor obviously (I know later armor gets more appealing) but the difference between these early examples is just “wow”. Before anyone says “but shes not wearing anything” YES she is. She’s wearing a jeweled top and jeweled bottoms. It doesnt bother me that shes showing stomach or legs (it doesnt bother my wife either she LOVES that outfit). What bothers me is that the male version doesnt have any jewels, any fine detail, isnt masculine-appealing in any way. Its just.. robes. For example, his top could have been cut from the stomach with a sash over his chest that has a jewel on it. His gloves couldve been finger-less and detailed like the females. He couldve easily sported that cape too. All id ask is for maybe a bit more time on male clothing. A bit more detail so the same armor set actually looks like its counterpart to a point. I know their is gender differences on what is “sexy” and opinions vary. All I ask is for equal treatment in clothing design.

Does this bug anyone else?

Im a fairly new player, been playing for around a month i think off and on. Im enjoying the game so far but the ambient dialogue is way to repetitive in some areas. The two that i for some reason just cant stand are..

Divinitys Reach: “Dwaynas been really looking out for me” “Oh how so?”
Hoelbrak: “Hey boy boy, come here, I..” then she mumbles then like a second later “Can you help me with something” “No way im on an adventure”

It sucks theyre near trading posts. A very close runner up is..

Floating Cube Place: “So what do we do during a golem uprising..”

If i could have one request it would be to remove ambient dialogue from trading post hubs. I would be a happy norn and id stop beating on dolyaks if that happened.

What exactly is living world content?

in Players Helping Players

Cerbskies.9865

Im still a fairly new player and i see a lot of complaints about living world content.
Im not sure what exactly it is though. From what i read, they develop content and put it in the game then take it away after a month or so. Is that the living world content? Or are the specific boss fights like the worm i hear about part of living world content? It kinda seems like the warnings i get for scarlett and the wintersday events are two different things.

Also why does anet develop content and take it away? From what i gather, the game is pretty much the same except for the content they add and take away therefore the game doesnt actually grow? So if i come back in a year ill still have the same game except for maybe a giant monster or something?

nightmare tower retelling?

The instance you were transported to tells the story of the end of the Tower of Nightmares, which was the site of the last few updates of the Living Story before Wintersday and the temporary break in Living Story updates. As a new player you should probably look at it as an opportunity to experience some of the lore around the current Living Story arc which is going to be coming to a close over the next couple of months, it really centres around a protagonist called Scarlet, who has been causing trouble in Tyria for the last year by organising alliances of enemies to wreak havoc. You might find this summary helpful, starting with the Flame and Frost chapter.

The Fractals update has already happened, at the end of November, and although it’s possible for you to enter the fractals of the mists (a serious of small dungeons done four at a time) and be uplevelled to 80 I would personally recommend that you just focus on exploring and levelling for now and look into dungeons and fractals when you’re a bit higher levelled or at 80.

The Super Adventure Box (8-bit area) is reoccuring content which isn’t available in the game at the moment but will be back sometime this year hopefully.

The Living Story is due to resume in two weeks, we are currently waiting for information on what the next patch will contain content and storywise so keep an eye on the Release Page for more information.

Thanks for the info! I checked in the group finder and there seems to be different tiers of fractals levels 1-9 etc, do i just ignore those then? Im loving the exploration element in this game but im just wondering how the group finder works

Hey all, i barely went through kressex hills and i ran into this camp with a human that gave the option to retell the nightmare tower something, then i was ported to an instance and upscaled to 80. I died (i was 25ish) but whats the deal with that?

I googled around and found out its part of the living world something system that gw2 has.

What was the nightmare tower thing about and what purpose does it serve? Do i need to do it at 80 or is it for lore purposes only since the event passed? Not familiar with dungeons or instances yet.. i read the next living world thing is fractals but i have no idea what to do or how to do a fractal.

gem store lacking? or bugged?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Im a new player and im trying to figure out things as i go. One thing ive always wondered about is the gem store. Obviously its making enough profit to keep guild wars up and running but when i check the store > style tab, theres only like 10 armor sets with some season outfits, cheap masks, and 2 plushy back packs.

Each armor set has light, medium, and heavy so im assuming im restricted to my armor type (im an engineer).

So am i missing something? It seems really small and sadly underwhelming.
I remember hearing how awesome the outfits you can buy are and how many you got to pick from. I feel like my thing is bugged and there should be a “next page” tab at the bottom or something in styles.

Im not trying to bash the game or anything but as far as purchasable styles go its really lacking. The mini tab makes me wonder why its ever there? I can only purchase a random-3 mini pack? Boosts seem alright though, not much more you can offer in terms of boost. Kinda let down that dyes are random, not liking the “slot machine” feel with real money but business is business.

So does the lion unlock more outfits as i level? Something im missing maybe? Please let me know im itching to buy some gems.
