I had this problem too. I tried on 4 instances, running to defending the gate after securing the logging area and each time only a handful of risen appeared and the game got stuck. The 1 st time i waited around for about 5 mins, but waiting didn’t seem to help. On the 4th time I let one of the guards die, but that didn’t help.

On my 5th go, as suggested in several posts above, i didn’t cut across though the greenery straight to gate, but went a little north to the path and followed the path to the gate. Then I waited out of aggro range for all of the guards to die. When I then approached the gate more risen spawned (2 lots of risen in 1 go eek!), and from there everything worked well.

If you get to the gate and it looks like the guards will easily win, you can tell right away that it is bugged because they should be swamped with risen when you get there if my last successful run is anything to go by.

I found another forum post about this and someone suggested that you have to be standing in the circle drawn on the mini map when you defeat the last group in order for Herboza to spawn. This isn’t easy if you character is squishy, plus they all come running at you when you approach. Somehow I managed this with my Ele, and indeed she did spawn! Perhaps it was lucky, or perhaps where you stand when you defeat the last group is important.

I would just like to reaffirm now that she definitely did not spawn the first time. I checked very well and she wasn’t there! I did get the cutscene, but no Herboza (or perhaps Herzog :p)

Yes, I am having this problem too. She is nowhere to be found!

I am a bit annoyed as my mesmer character had her Personal story skipped 20+ lvls forwards to lvl 48, so i held off continuing the story with her so that i wouldn’t miss anything.

Now I have this Shards of Orr bug with my Ele, and I can’t continue again! Sadly this is becoming less like fun and more like hard work to get through to the end of any story line!

I have been trying to play with a friend from the beginning and it is very difficult to get into a party with him. Sometimes we can meet up by making sure we are in the same zone and then clicking ‘join in…’ to get in the same overflow server.

However, sometimes even when we are in the same zone, we still do not get the ‘join party member’ option. I believe this might be because either one or both of our characters doesn’t update their location.

For example when we meet in Kessex Hills, if I look at his character location in the friends list it will say somewhere else (usually the last place we have been) and vise versa. Re-logging and switching character and reforming the party usually doesn’t fix these issues and this happens in Kessex Hill more frequently than anywhere else. If we switch characters, usually the friends list will say he is on a different character to the one he is actually on. I have pretty much given up trying to form the party in that area as it is the most difficult place i have found this problem with.
