I think the big tanks (the charr-headead ones) are called Godkillers somewhere.
Even if not, its an awesome name i will surely use in character anyway.
The small ones which you drive in one of the last story missions are only called “tanks”, though i’d call them trikes or Recon tanks at best.
Then you have those mobile towers, which are called “Siege Engines” i believe and seemingle get used to set up small encampments and haul soldiers with all of their gear to a spot where it hurts.
Asked a buddy of mine what “honey” in italian meant. Tesoro, he said (He’s half italian, so he should know). Made it Tesora Ironstorm.
Bam instant engineer of the Blood Legion. Though now he is probably changing warbands so she will switch the name.
Another nice one is Ganni Hullrender, from the Rend warband. Mesmer of the Iron Legion. He was basically a siege engine commander and legionnaire in his warband, until his engine got hit badly and his foot took a serious beating. Crippled and now being 50 summers of age, he serves as a Quaestor in the Arsenal.
He specialized in tearing down other siege engines, hence Hullrender.
Warriors. They use guns themselves.
Hell, i have a Mesmer i RP as a quaestor. He was formerly the commander of a siege engine and used his mesmeric magic to communicate on the battlefield with other elements of his warband.
Kusatta – Nightborn Necromancer
“I dreamed of rot and decay. Not in the world, but inside of me. I dreamed of fear, but not fear of my own, but fear of me. I dreamed of a swarm of piranhias, tearing apart a shark.
Now that i am awakened, i know what i dreamed of.
There is a nightmare in all of us, and mine is physical. Sickening and small creatures live inside of me and other sylvari feel this and shy away from me. My body rots away as fast as it can heal. But these will not kill me. I have mastered them in my first days being awake, learned that they eat my rotting body, so it can blossom anew. They are my children, and i am their father.”
Something about the issue the NC has reminds me of some uplift factions in transhuman themed media, whose goals are to seperate themselves from regular humans and develop their own racial identity before joining again.
Some of them really get extreme, because being a dolphin with the intellect of a human surely brings up different morals and cultural standards than a regular human.
Hmmm
Lets say the Dream is the Matrix. The NC view themselves as the humans who experienced reality. Now they want all sylvari to take the blue pill by force. Which means torture and pain. But in the end, hey you are not living in a dreamy fairy tale world.
I can see their reasoning. I actually believe that many courtiers are not commiting evil acts because they love it, but because its simply one of the surest ways to “help” other sylvari.
Then of course, some people get influenced by the method and truly enjoy it. Its part of being unique personalities at work. Some enjoy it more than others. Remember Bercilak from the Green Knight personal story. He truly was a despicable kitten even mocking Ventaris teachings in doing so. While there was a quantum of honor left in him (he agreed to duel honorably), he threatened others into doing what he wanted and beat up weaker sylvari for fun. (fridge brilliance: even his first Personal Story mission is called “Mockery of Death”, and mockery is a theme with him)
I found that my biggest problem with underwater combat (Charr Engineer here), is simply that i tend to not always upgrade my Breather or Speargun.
Combat underwater also gets significantly easier, if you use a ranged weapon instead of trying to melee. Seriously, i hate the spear on my thief, although its fun and i can handle it.
Actually… Rifle would be awesome.
Anybody thinking of Sniper?
Actually… the Gods of the humans are considered gods by the people of Tyria. Their definition must not overlap with ours, but in the end, they are very powerful beings with some credence over a specific aspect of life.
For humans, they created Tyria as it is, which in their eyes justifies worship. And seeing that the gods helped them conquer Ascalon and kicking the Charr out…
Even the Charr have legends of a being – that is specifically Melandru – creating the world. (GW2Wiki)
Lets just say, defining “what is a god” is pretty useless in this argument from the questions point of view.
Because irregardless of what a god actually is, the Charr do not give akitten Even if a Charr would ascend to godhood like Kormir did, the rest of the race would see him/her not as somebody you should suddenly start to worship. Worship – and therefore submitting – to a powerful being is idiotic to them, because they once were in the shackles of false gods – the Titans. They – as a race – want to forge their own destiny, most of their culture is based around that and they find unity in that thought.
So in conclusion, they are neither true misotheists, nor atheists.
The Charr racial belief would be Antitheism, but i prefer the simpler and more exact term Nay-theist.
“The Nay Theist is not an atheist or agnostic — he is well aware of the existence of the Gods (or God), and freely admits it; he just refuses to worship them, or to “believe” in them in any strong Spiritual sense beyond merely acknowledging the fact of their existence.
