I like your idea about having the ability to chose 5 of fifteen skills from weapon sets. Having 4 to 5 choices (if your class is lucky) of what 5 locked skills your going to have is something that really bummed me out about GW2. The entire skill system seems like it was designed to force you to play in a particular fashion (not so much style) E.G. -Picking 1 to 4 weapons you enjoy (10 skills in front if you include weapon swaps), and then a choice of the 6 skills out of the 25 some odd that are offered to you that even do anything useful. 19 of them being almost… useless.
Some of my oldest characters still don’t have skills/weapons unlocked because I know they’re of no value.
Just set it up like GW1 did. Stand alone or can be inter-twined. I had no problem buying all of the expansions for that game. I still have the boxes lying around somewhere. The LS stuff seems like a gimmick and doesn’t really give thrilling content, just something in the world is different for a period. That’s not my idea of an expansion, more like an alteration. Expanding on what you have already is an expansion (thus the word). Like adding skills, weapons, classes, races, maps, events, etc. Not making Lonars Pass have a new boss for a few weeks.
(Talk about EoTM if you want but that seemed more like a solution for WvW players crying about overflow than it did an expansion. Sure it’s new, sure it’s different, but it seemed like they just took something they had, and put it on a new map. Not… exactly my idea of expanding.)
First, I apologize if this is the wrong thread, I couldn’t seem to find one befitting… so here:
Alright, I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but it was just a thought that I had. We’ve all (ish) kind of battered around a few ideas about what adding a race to Tyria would be and such. I was thinking; what about adding a sentient cyborg style race? Perhaps built by something/someone and breaks out of it’s “intended design”. I imagine it’d be implemented through a story of some kind obviously.
The only reason I mention this is because I was thinking that some people are into Cyberpunk scenario’s and other’s enjoy a more fantasy style setting. Not that it’s a perfect fit, but then you could have people who’d like to be a “Warlock” and cast spells and what not. A mystic play style so to speak. Then there are people who’d want maybe to be a “War Machine” (even just aesthetically) and be a warrior class on a cyborg race… I know it wouldn’t always make sense because it’d be strange having a robot cast “Life Steal” style spells or summoning bone minions (necro), but the eternal alchemy isn’t exactly “science” it’s kind of ’’mystical’’ so maybe there could be some weaving it together better in that aspect… anyway.
I don’t know, just something that came to me, was wondering your thoughts and feedback. Was a fleeting idea so I apologize if it comes across kind of abstract.

If they give Mesmers cards for a weapon I’m going to be upset with all of you. That’s simply inane, let’s just give the Ranger a friggin’ birdcage while we’re at it.
I don’t have any idea’s, but cards is a bad one… so are fans. Seriously people. If someone in WvW came chargin’ at me with Fans or a Deck of Cards… no. Just no.
#Edit: Also, addings Fans or Cards into the game would be odd unless it was Mesmer specific. W-t-frick is a Warrior or Elementalist going to do with a Fan or ace of spades? Fold? Ha… anyway. No; again.
