Baby steps. I think the problem is that devs are prioritizing fixes before making changes that will also require fixing. So my wish list is small compared to the OP.
1) give us better tools to coordinate large amounts of gamers. For instance why arent there options for simple things (simple being relative to other games) like formation of raids. In my opinion this would give a positive experience in commander efforts to coordinate.
2) take out useless space in BLs. Cause seriously who cares about the huge body of water in the middle of the map? Take it out or give it a purpose please.
3) mobs in wvw are dumb i agree. At the very least dont allow ppl to rally off of a pve kill.
4) i couldnt help myself… Take out the whole downed aspect.

Anyone complaining at 2v1 does not understand the tactical advantage behind it. I highly doubt any 2v1 is being coordinated, sometimes it just makes sense. Are some of you mad because our enemies are coming up with very legit strats? LoL
I disagree with most suggestions here.
I bought GW2 for the WvW, I like the fact it is different to most games & would like to keep it that way.
Adding features that have been done in other games such as fog of war/gear progression etc… is not good and a backwards step. As for objectives flipping being to easy, it promotes stratagies & makes a casual player feel they do contibute, and does not force lock people into taking/holding certain objectives.
Down state, i like it, it adds dimension to the gameplay.The game is fine as it is, though maybe in game live matchup scores/league table & a few bugs fixed, then it would be better.
I respect everything you said. I enjoy the game i bought this game for the same reasons. My concerns revolve around keeping this game interesting. No mmo looks the same after a certain patch. This patch is always the patch that breaks the game for many people. My point is not let anet make a huge mistake. My ideas are my own, i just want the upcoming game changes to lean towards the proper demographic. Anet has already started to seperate different styles of game play. There are things that only effect spvp. Good but if wvwvw centric gamers such as us dont make good arguments for what we would like anet is just going to wing it….. I dont want them to “wing” it.
Speaking about scouting, EQ2 did a couple of things right. I believe a class like rangers should have an ability to “track” enemy players. Tracking will give a tactical advantage to whoever is paying attention.
I wanted to focus on this point because I think you’ve hit upon something really brilliant. Not long-distance tracking like you’re suggesting. Instead, I’m thinking more in terms of seeing stealthed enemies.
There’s a legendary weapon I saw some guy running around with that caused him to leave behind glowing footprints. Imagine if the Ranger could see glowing footprints any time someone activated stealth. Hell, even extend that effect to Mesmers and their clones (the real Mesmer would leave glowing footprints but clones wouldn’t). The Ranger would suddenly become very powerful in terms of neutralizing two of the most complained-about professions in the game. And, as a built-in counter to this ability, Thieves and Mesmers choosing to stand still wouldn’t generate any footprints.
I think the skill would work best as a passive signet so that only the footprints are only visible to the Ranger, and can be activated to give the Ranger their own few seconds of stealth (think camouflage).

Brilliant. If i read this right the point is lets think outside the box. Make this game more interesting in terms of providing certain counters.
Im a theif and i think im a pretty kitten good one. I have seen complaint after complaint asking for nerfs. My opinion is not to nerf thiefs but if the devs feel something is out of wack it might be because there is not a good counter. What if a ranger had an ability where there was a bubble or something (im speculating here) and any stealth class would instantly be revealed.
The way tracking worked in eq2 Is a scout was able to see names on a list depending on proximity. They could choose a target on that list and track them better. Stealth did not matter in tracking.
The forums are a cesspool as it is. Adding names will just make it worse.
Agreed I just think that having the option is always better than not. Im sure forum moderators work load will increase.
Anyone remember andred and mordred in daoc? Just a crazy thought but how awesome would it be for anet to impliment one or two servers where everything was ffa. Guilds not servers win. Friendly fire? Complete anarchy!
There are steps anet can take to hacking. This is something that effects the entire game. It doesnt matter what aspect of the game u enjoy the most. Hacking is a problem and im sure thats #1 on anets list.
Orbs are dissapointing. It was a good concept which directly effects wvwvw strategies. I hope they comeback soon. I dont know about the outmanned buff. I honestly dont think any server wide buff is going to make an impact in a game that is obviously built for zergs. Lets face it at the current stage of the game the biggest zerg wins. So in order for an such a buff that is going to turn the tide to be trully effective it will probably also be subject to huge balancing issues.
Oh yeah downed state! I hate it. Maybe give everyone more hp and get rid of downed state. I fail to see any possible benefit in this mechanic other than being annoying. I guess the biggest reason why anet would be hesitant in removing the downed state is that it ties into how you spec your char. But yeah annoying :p
Here are a couple of things that i believe will improve wvwvw.
A darkness falls type of environment, this was a great idea for DAOC and it would involve a lot of debate on how this would be implemented. Maybe it could be tied to something like stonemist, whatever faction controls it would have access?
Implementation of Fog of War. This would make scouting important, seriously if I am far away from a spot that is being attacked i should not be able to see Xswords on the map.

Taking an enemy controlled tower or keep should not be easy unless the enemy faction has neglected to upgrade. I think speeding up the upgrade process while also making it more expensive is the right step. However, the upgrades need to be worth it! Give upgraded doors and walls more hp ALOT more. Upgraded guards should include legendary / champions. Wvwvw points have turned this into a game of flipping control points to the level of being silly.
On to controversy .
I for one would love to see rewards for wvwvw. I know the jury is still out on this subject and everyone has very strong opinions both favoring and hating it. I only ask to suspend your current feelings on this subject and think about the longgetivity of wvwvw as it pertains to this game. People want to progress in some form in order to remain interested in a game for an extended period of time. I dont want to discuss what this progression should look like because that would be a subject for its own thread. But as a mmo gamer and guild leader I have to say that everything comes to to progression in a persistent environment.
Progression does not = leaderboards. I would love to see some type of leaderboards in gw2. It doesn’t have to be an in game system. I would like to see this on guildwars2.com. It will give people something to talk about. It will bring a certain type of competitive environment to those who care about these things without involving those that don’t.
Names… I left the biggest touchy subject for last. Speaking for myself i would love to know who just wtfpwnt me. I get the whole “we dont want xfaction msging” i get how there will always ppl who will grief others. But Anet, is it really so bad that you cant give us an option to turn this on or off? Its simple you dont want your name or see the enemy names…. Turn it off.. done deal. Are we that scared that 12 year olds are going to leave this option on and then cry to mommy when Cifu 2 shotted him? Yeah yeah moms gonna get pissed. Parental controlls?
Anyway all of this has already been spoken about i just think that we who want to wvwvw need some drastic improvements in this arena. And by all means please debate this. If we don’t talk about this subject more. GW2 will be the same game a year from now but it will take the age of conan turn and have a very small population. No one here wants this.
I understand your point Cifu, I don’t have an issue with the build or the stealthing. It is the combination of the stealthing with the game rendering issues that people are upset with.
The stealth build relies on the poor rendering of the game engine, end of story. A few people who play a thief will admit that is what is occurring.
But when a majority of thieves say L2P, it ignores the issue at hand. And at the same time you are insulting many people who are quite competent video game players.
Im with you i think most stealth builds are taking advantage of a broken game machanic cause there is no perma stealth build that or atleast there shouldnt be.
As to the person speaking about rangers. I as a thief am pretty miffed at the current stage of the ranger class. I havent looked at tbe patch notes yet but it is my opinion that the ranger class should be able to be on par with the thief class in terms of dps cept that a ranger should deal out single target dps in 2 bursts. What i mean by this is lets take anperfect situation into account a thief with full glass cannon spec downs an opponent in one round. This one round is steal cd backstab and a hs or 2. If done right the victim will feel this happened in like 3-5 seconds a ranger should e able to do this in 6-10 seconds. Yeah yeah QQ but that is how a scout class is built dps hard die fast is our motto.
I have a warrior as well and i have played around with different equipment specs and have gotten to the point where i can deal almost as much burst single target dps on a single target as i can on my thief. The major difference is I am not in stealth then i do this but my health makes up for it. Whats sad is while doing this on my warrior i have had enemy players msg me saying that thieves are OP…. They dont even know how they died. Moral of this story is good players will be able to find a nitch in any class they play. They will stay away from classes that seem to be broken or subpar.

L2p is nonsense in this case. We cannot target the enemy before we are dead, and our cc’s and heals are insufficient. Sorry. That’s a mechanical issue and a bug.
I think you might be using “we” a bit too broadly. A good thief will attempt to take you by surprise. I have gone against every class in the game i have won and lost. Everytime i lose i look at that combat log to see what happened and i try to be better. I have fought against necros who seem to have all the health in the world. I have fought against elementalists that are “tank” spec each time i come across a different class i can tell who the good ones gamers are regardless if i win or lose.
I am willing to wager that regardless of the amount of nerfs delt to the thief class, any thief worth anything will still find a way to sneak up on you and destroy you. Oh and btw im all for nerfing things like HS spam, extended stealth if there is such a thing. I woudnt even mind having our burst abilities nerfed to a respectable degree. I am used to one rounding the baddies and i am sure that no amount of nerfs is going to stop baddies from being destroyed.

Your right Cifu. I’ve dusted mydelf a dozen times now. And I studied what happened. A stealth thief jumped out of stealth, hit me really hard, stealthed, hit me again while stealthed and put me down, then finished me while stealthed.
He then held off 10-15 people for 3-4 minuted from capping a supply point then ran off when he was finally flushed out.
The stealth build that is taking advantage of the game engine rendering issues has nothing to with it…at all. The alpha gamers have taught the rest of us we need to “L2P”.

Seriously, i admit depending on your class level and gear and whats going on you maybe a victim of a thiefs ability to kill you fast. True and i wont argue that point. My rebuttal is based on the game mechanics what else can a thief do, besides run away really really well? Do you think that a thief should deal subpar single target dps not kill a target? What benifit is there then? We dont go around one rounding ppl as we please. We have cool downs. We sacrafice everything in order to do what we do.
Again a thief who is able to stick around a point and not allow it to be “capped” is either 1 a victim just like you who has to deal with the unfixed cullin issue, or a luck thief who is not being properly targeted. I think im ok as a thief and i have never been able to do this nor know of a thief that has other than reading forum posts and seeing a single video where it seemed like everyone was just standing there afk.
My l2p coment was just to make fun but in all seriousness some ppl are just easy targets they stand there and just take it! Lately it seems like people are adjusting and i can say that one rounding any one these days is becoming increasingly difficult.
To the people saying just stacking up will get the thief to come close enough to aoe, be aware there are various chickens/rats/cats/etc at pretty much every single supply camp in this game. Thieves can infinitely keep a control point locked up if they so desire. This should not be.
Capping/preventing capture while stealthed is the only issue with thief, and it should definitely be fixed.
I have heard this argument and i have even seen videos with thiefs who have done this. No disrespect intended here but any decent group that has allowed this to happen for more than a couple of seconds needs to reevaluate what happened. There is no way NO WAY!!! That a thief should be able to stay in stealth for an extended period of time denying a group + from capping a point.
On the flip side if this happened and its because of some dumb culling issue that anet has yet to resolve…. Guys that is not our fault. Ill QQ right beside you and we can sing kumbayah together untill anet fixes this problem.

I kinda agree with this. Anyone that rolls a thief as their first choice and not because its fotm will have a certain play style. They want high burst dps and is typically a min maxer. These gamers are alphas thats not to say other ppl with other classes are not, it just means that there will always be QQers because a good thief will always find a way to destroy you in such a way that is gonna make you come on to these forums and cry cry for a nerf.
If u get one rounded by a thief pick yourself up dust yourself off and study what happened and why. Let me give you some insight, im a thief i dont have much health. Im not the only thief in this game obviously. If another thief gets the jump on me im dead. Guess what? That rarely happens. I know how to counter my own tactics. Stay on the move, anticipate an attack, know whats going on around you, look at ppls buffs so you know what your fighting. Trust me when i say a quick and proper decision on your part will negate our burst. Its a game of chess each piece has its own abilities and counters.

BG put up some great fights today. I havent looked at the rankings so i dont know who will be in T1 next week. I assume sbi and jq, who will be the third?
I credit WoW success exactly to that, they always increase the level cap, for those who enjoy leveling, add a new BG for those who only pvp, add some raids for those who like to raid or end content oriented and so on, this makes people want to buy the expansion even if they come to regret it after.
Wow is a different animal. There are some pvpers but ultimately it boils down to pve. The raids in wow are very well thought out and many games have been trying to compete. If Anet thinks they can compete with wow and starts to mold this game as pve with they will lose. Gw2 is fun, lets expand on the base and make it better.

Its obvious that many people are starting to migrate into wvw recently. Wvw is in my very biased opinion the most attractive part of this game. Anet might have wanted to get into the E-Sport craze with SPvP, but lets be honest SPvP doesnt bave the “it” factor needed yet to become an E-Sport. Anet go back to the drawing board please. In the mean time i believe there is a lot of potential in tbe wvw front. Here are some suggestions.
Make contested raid mobs in wvw. These are mobs that spawn on a timer, these mobs will drop stuff that is better than anything currently in the game. They can have stats that are only good in wvw. Please make these drops rare and boe.
For the love of balzapuppy give us something where guilds can form raids. You want to make money? Then make it so we need yo buy this ability. This is guildwars, and guilds need options in order to coordinate.
Give wvw some kind of ladder system. Gw2 at its current stage is about wvw. In order for an mmo to be profitable these days it needs to attract ppl beyond the initial grind. Give those that want to wvw a reason to wvw beyond the week by week system. The reward system does not to be crazy. Give ppl that progress things that can only be utilized.
Give us a system to understand how we are doing in wvw. Who has the most kills? What guilds have the most impact in wvw. Make it so it is not about zergs, make it so we can see what guilds have the most impact depending on numerous factors.
I can go on and on. The point is Anet has made a game that many people want to play. Give us a reason to continue playing. I bet that the player base is able to come up with lots of ideas for Anet to make more money. Take advantage of this Anet. Your player base are also consultants and we want a game that is going to give us fun for hopefuly a long time to come.
Again the only people defending the 2v1 are the people participating in it lol. You guys just don’t know how to defend yourselves correctly do you? Like I said. Blackgate doesn’t care anymore. We want Tier 2 because Tier 1 does whatever they can to trash talk and bash another server if they “THINK” something is wrong. Even if it means blatantly teaming up. BG doesn’t need this. We will just dominate Tier 2. Maybe help someone get to tier 1 and then team up against SBI since JQ can’t do a kitten thing against us for the most part.

BG is a great server with lots of good players. HoD and ET collapsed and a few prominant guilds went to BG, not all but a few, and destroyed the compitition in their tier. Momentum and egos formed Voltron and BG became Beastgate. How can beastgate lose? Here is how:
Instant satisfaction only takes you so far one or two guilds are not going to carry an entier server ppl get burned out. Sbi is doing well now because we have many small guilds. Yes we have WM and yes they are good we also have a couple of other guilds that do very well. Not to diminish what any of these guilds have done and are doing but we have so many other smaller guilds that contribute.
I see puppygate run around in one guild zergs, tipicaly this is very effective as communication within guilds will be effective, but its not sustainable in a 24/7 enviornment. Not only will you lose during NA off hours but you will lose during prime time because the sharks will smell the blood from a mile away and come eat your babies.
Any guild that left HoD because it was boring is full of puppies and unless they transfer to a T1 server we will never see them again.
My guild DDH was on ET and we were part of AA. Everyone knows that AA failed miserably so we searched for a server that was going to provide a stable enviorment. We figured there was only 2 real choices: SBI and JQ, this was a month ago before SBI won their first T1 match. I want to say we did not choose JQ due to a guild vote but to this date either server is a good choice. We have alot of fun fights against JQ, you guys have your puppies together and i would not be surprised if you pulled out a victory every other week in T1, thats how good i think you are.
Puppiegate you guys are good too else you would not be in T1. But you have some guilds that only transfered there for instant satisfaction. Now that they didnt recieve it i expect these guilds will either have lots of attrition or simply leave to greener pastures. You will have some rebuilding to do but based on what i have seen i expect tou guys to make it back into T1 better than ever, maybe then u will actualy be “Beastgate”.

Orbs are an interesting mechanic, it’s yet another way that Anet attempts to show everyone that WvW is not supposed to be balanced. The best teams get the orb! Oh but it’s bugged!
This solution has been repeated numerous times but… Anet please remove orbs untill the machanic is working as intended.
That being said, look at the mechanics, switch them. The losing team needs buffs the winning teams just want competition, give them the magic find bs… Or better yet come up with something better.

What’s the argument here about?
Spvp is a system where anyone can participate. If you want to be casual and don’t want to spend time gearing up your char, then this is ideal… If you are a bit more serious then what better way to hone your skills and those of your teammates in spvp. You can compete in tournaments and not have to worry about “that one guy” who has way too much time on his/her hands and has way better gear.
WvW is not about balance, Anet already gives everyone the ability to compete by bumping them to 80, but it’s obvious that gear and real levels already plays a huge role in WvW. So please take your arguments of balance out of the WvW discussion.
WvW should have a life of its own. It should have some sort of progression, even if it’s just some sort of reward system like titles. I’m not here to discuss what that system should look like, there are plenty of threads on this subject and I don’t feel like starting another.
Let’s once again look at why WvW can never be balanced and why some type of reward system is justified:
1. Gear and level already plays a huge role in WvW, this is time consuming, dont expect to go to WvW ungeared and not have your kitten handed to you on a silver plater. That being said you can help, you can participate and be effective, just don’t expect too much!
2. Defense and offense in WvW means you have to pay for things. Siege weapons cost money they are not free and those who put them down are doing it for the benefit of not just themselves but of the server.
3. WvW commanders are people that tipicaly have been nominated by their respected guilds. These guilds have pooled their resources to get them the commander icon. These commanders have taken a lot of time to become effective in an enviornment that is not fair or balanced.
Again my point is WvW is not supposed to be a “mini” game lots of people and guilds bought this game for this very mechanic so let’s not minimize it. GW1 is not GW2 and GW2 has implemented WvW, and based on the current machanic Anet understand this is not supposed to be a balanced system.
I’m all for options. Names, Ranks, Ect….. If people don’t like it turn the option off, or simply don’t participate.
