there’s an argument going around about which will be the next playable race. the frontrunner seems to be Tengu. but a lot of us are screaming for Skritt.

personally i’m leaning towards a massive surprise. what’s that 1 race? they show up a few times in the game. in Brisban one of them is killing off Valiants. in another event you have to fight one of them who’s an assassin. i think their name starts with an ‘I’.
they’re cool looking though.

my own beloved species are neither gnomes nor goblins. Asura are Gremlins.
Norn? they’re not the Nords that we love out of The Elder Scrolls. they’re Giants out of Nordic lore (or the closest that ANet could make to them).
so my question.
i’m pretty deep on this knowledge but come up short here. i can trace everyone else except Charr. what have i missed? what are Charr based off of in mythology/fairy tales/whatever? or are they a wholely ANet creation?

and screw pessimism. we’re Asura. if it fails the first time we’ll experiment and try it again and again until we figure out how to make it work.
on another page of these forums the question was asked: what do you love about your Asura?
my general answer would be everything. but the community would be a huge part of that. we have that. people who love Asura really love Asura. we can make this happen and work.
it’s funny though, for a game called Guild Wars, guilds have been the hardest part of the game for me. the experience of looking for 1 worth any effort has been downright bitter. i have 1 and only 1 because a very dear friend sensed my pain and created it just so i could say i had 1.
so yeah. let’s do it and do it hard.
a few things here. people will think what they will. that’s not your problem. it’s their’s. play what you enjoy.
2. the running on all fours does turn a few people off. personally i think it looks cool.
3. i don’t mind getting lost in BC. the city is such a visual feast that i kinda enjoy it actually.
4. times are changing. i dunno if it’s just my server (Tarnished Coast) or if it’s everywhere. but i see a lot more people playing Charr lately (and even more playing Sylvari but that’s kinda beside the point). and i wander all the areas.
5. the stigma against Charr from GW1 is going away. there are too many new people (like me) who never played GW1 for it not to.

6. honestly i worry more about how few Norn i see. more variety makes it more fun for everyone (and gives me more big people to hide behind).
