[Suggestion] Grand White/Black Wings Skin

Oh I understand, I play with the other races and it can be a tiny bit annoying when somebody large is wearing opulent armour or some sort of backpack, but the looks can be so beautiful for such a small sacrifice!

Salut! this is but a humble suggestion I thought of while gliding in Butterfrost Frontier, there has been a recent sale on White/black Wing backpieces, and it occurred to me, how would it look like to have four wings? the idea is nowhere near original of course, but I was curious to see how it would look on Guild Wars 2 and… I realized I could actually see it in game, by using the backpiece/skin combination. I make this suggestion as a 800 gem item to be sold on the store, maybe cheaper, maybe more expencive, just a thought I wanted to share, and discuss with others, I would like opinions on how they look, and if perhaps they need anything changed!

Here its how it looks like.

[Suggestion]Fishing

Corraidhin.3986

The game already has fishing.

Not line and pole of course, but take a spear, trident, or speargun underwater and hunt fish if you like.

Indeed Ashen, however, as I mentioned at the beginning of my post, and a couple other times pages ago, the idea of this suggestion is to add a non-combat pve mechanic to the game, to the maps that have water bodies in them. Anyone can pick up a spear and go killing, but thats basically just another section of combat.

Now, somebody suggested the fishing system from FF14 which seems to be very interactive and fun, sort of like Stardew Valley’s Fishing mini game. Fish anywhere, with its own tricks and quirks.

Oh yeah grinding fishing sounds absolutely terrible lol, I liked Stardew Valley as a fishing mini game, it was really engaging, now… doing that in an online game? that might prove difficult, or maybe not, the fishing could be slower paced so it is doable for all sorts of connection speeds (on the reasonible idea of “speed”) or maybe something else entirely? thats the hard part to do, the “how to” of it all!

Actually my favourite glider is the simple White Wing glider ^^ both as a backpack and as a gliding skin, it looks so nice and enjoyable on some maps, a bit dim on others, but that is hardly an issue, and the best part is how it does not keep popping in and out of existence as you walk/glide!

Of course I would love to have the Celestial Chicken glider… that one is just BEAUTIFUL! but… not on sale :c

Fishing can be fun, but this being a genre in which “gameplay” and “content” are often equated with “grind”, I’d be worried that a fun pastime would turn into a horrible chore. And I say that as an ex-WoW player whose main always had Fishing (and Cooking) maxed — there were times when I genuinely enjoyed it and would in fact just cast a lure and watch the scenery for a while, and times when I bleedin’ cursed it because it took an age and a half to get anywhere with it.

If they do introduce fishing, I’d hope that they’d keep it more “fluff-and-fun” and not too painful to level, but I doubt they’d introduce it unless it was in some way relevant … and that would almost certainly mean a grind.

I think we could avoid making fishing a grind (and thus a chore) by making it more interactable, sure, you would have to get bait (most likely by farming it) to fish with, but spots would change overtime, rather than being in one spot, this could sound bothersome to some people, but it would prevent fishers from just sitting in one spot going afk (looking at you, Runescape), on the contrary, more fishers in one spot could boost chances at catching things, more often and would force the fishing spot to “disappear” and reappear somewhere else, people would be on the move, it would (at least I hope) engage players into chatting, sharing tips or ideas for fishing or anything else in general, something you easily miss with typical content that has you rushing around everywhere with no such chance as to look at someone else’s face. Fishing would allow such things, at least thats my hope.

Why fish, when you can simply jump in and spear them to death.

See, you misunderstand, what I mean at the beginning of my thread is that I would like to see a non-combat (that means, I do not have to kill it with my weapons) activity in pve, something else that is not just “get to this place, kill this, recieve that” Fishing, actual fishing with a tool, not killing, catching something, trapping it, not spearing it in combat.

I only played gw1 for maybe 2 hours (I plan to eventually fix that, soon) on a friend’s account just to see what it was like, and I saw how she could summon or hire her own characters to accompany her, that felt so heartwarming to see! and I have since missed that feature in Gw2, it could be simple, have your characters follow you around and attack the mobs you attack, they of course should be using the outfit/gear you currently have on them, and they should do nothing more than attack and perhaps try to heal you when you go down as Rox and Braham so often do in story missions, I see no need to further complicate things with anything else like utilities and the like.

According to the AMA a long time ago, he was laughed at for bringing it up.

Sadly, it seems that ANET will never take that as a serious idea…
Shame really, it’s a feature I really enjoyed in other MMO’s.

Well that is a bit sad… but one should never give up hope right?

Lately I solo a lot, so being able to have my tempest running along with my druid (even if they just stand there and look like pets) would make a world of difference to me, I would feel like all the characters I have created over the years do coexist with one another ^^

(or maybe just have a max of 2 or 3 following you, doing 50/75% less damage depending on how many you have with you at the same time, just an idea)

[Suggestion]Fishing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Corraidhin.3986

Corraidhin.3986

Well the core of the idea behind fishing is to have a non-combat addition to the game ^^ I know there is a plethora of different underwater life to utterly poke and spear at our leisure, but that is the exact same to pretty much everything else you can do in pve in regards to combat, it would be uninspiring to make such an addition, hell, even depressing!

It could be like some sort of mini game (not instanced for the love of god) where you find the desired fishing spot, choose bait, rod (given there are variations) and start fishing, how to actually fish has been handled in games so differently it would be difficult to say a “this is best for gw2” option; a quick time event? (with an ample window of reaction, for those of slower connection) just little brainstormed ideas ^^

Corraidhin.3986

I am sorry if this has been suggested before, but I have always liked the fact that we can explore Tyria at large, find trees, ores and other gatherables. However, I always found it a bit odd that, despite having so much water, ships, nets, and a generous amount of fishing npcs, there was no way for the player to participate in such activities!

I want to suggest fishing both to the Guild Wars 2 community and to the developers themselves to give it a chance, I know this would be no small feat whatsoever, but it would be a fun addition (and source of collections, for those who enjoy that kind of content) to the pve aspects of this game!

As we all know, theres a plethora of things to do in Guild Wars 2 when it comes to PvE content, such as exploring, completing hearts, gathering and the like, and while so many maps have abundant water, they make no use of it other than for a few gathering nodes! (such as underwater ores, seaweed and coral, among others)

So, what of fishing? how could it be implemented? like I mentioned earlier it is no small addition to think of, and no easy work either! a few ideas that could be worked on to flesh out fishing in Guild Wars 2:
-Fishing collections divided on areas of the world map (eastern tyria, western tyria and so on)
-materials that can be used in cooking, and guild hall decorations such as fishing trophies
-while fishing, the player could “catch” some other underwater materials like seaweed, coral orbs, and a seldom ore (odd suggestions, but this is a game after all!)

As for fishing tools… the standard fishing rod? with a racial design to accomodate each taste (whether it matches your race or not, dont think we have had a race-based addition in a while)

I would like to suggest other kinds of fishing tools, but its a rather silly idea I wanted to share, see what my fellow players think about it! and again, my apologies if this has already been discussed in the past!

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Corraidhin.3986

Corraidhin.3986

I just took a quick gander at the legendary sets, on my charr character… they look pretty all right in my opinion! not extremely good, but certainly not deserving the hate some people seemingly have given to the sets, I have no plans of getting any of the pieces or sets whatsoever, but that does not stop me from appreciating how they look. The only remarkable offense I could point out is on the medium set, while it does not look like a trench coat, its still one, and the… “cowl”? looks absolutely out of place, more befitting of a robe, than a coat. Perhaps if it was changed to a more loosened hood that keeps with the dragon motif these armours have.

edit: After a closer look, medium armour is really extravagant… on the wrong side, I am afraid, it goes overboard on its design, and looks more ridiculous than intimidating, like an angry expression humouristically exaggerated to cause laughter.

Frozen at launch

Corraidhin.3986

Ever since I bought this game years ago, it has always gone to a black screen on launch, then going onto the character selection screen. However, I tried logging in just now as usual, only to get stuck at aforementioned black screen. Trying to alt tab would not work, and had to open the task manager to kill the process. Guild Wars 2 was showing very little activity and was “responding”, but while it was active it would not let me click anywhere and had to use the keyboard to stop it.

Edit: Game has given me no problems after I restarted the application.

Indeed not only MMOs but also other online games! such as Overwatch; a game I love to the core and yet, ever since the christmas update, everything and everyone seems to be on edge… aggressive, annoying, salty, whatever word you wish you use, it will be negative. It seems to be quite a common crisis with these online games. People are honestly surprised when we play and usually say “its so rare to meet players that are not toxic nowadays” true, and saddening I must say.

Try Ranger, I have played every profession and while they are all pretty good exploring the maps (Mesmers being noticeably slower) I would say Ranger is the simplest, most effective option! You ll never lack for support as you ll have your faithful eternally-juvenile pet at your side! ranged and melee weapons for any kind of scenarion, and quite a health pool to go along with! their sigils are very useful and the traits are great for exploration. although I do most of my exploring as an Engineer, I insist on suggesting Rangers as the better choice.

[Suggestion] Koda's Flame

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Corraidhin.3986

Corraidhin.3986

i actually really dislike the mechanic of kodas flame staff!

since you have to be ultra slow while using the staff because you arent allowed to use your mobility skills when using the staff….
which just makes it feel soooo slow and anti-fun to use

and on top of that staff is just mediocre dmg during combat … ofc you can drop it for combat but still annoying…

Maybe a good solution would be that interacting with kodas flame gives you access to a special action key that serves as a 2nd weaponswap button and it allows you to swap to kodas flame staff and back
so you can use your weapon & mobility skills and still get back to kodas flame staff after that by pressing the special action key again

Well thats an odd statement, the first skill of the staff is a sprint! and not a short or slow sprint whatsoever! the staff is infact, a very proper way to run around, unless of course you are using a shortbow thief, in which case that is the faster way to go around.

Regardless, I think we have strayed a bit from the actual point of this post, havent we?

With the latest addition to story mode, the Brazier of Koda has allowed us to use this magnificent Staff-like torch to withstand the perils of the Bitterfrost Frontier.

While it is an incredibly useful tool and avery good looking one at that, I was curious to see if it could be possible as a future addition, to become a staff for the player to wield at anytime? as an unlit version, or lit (something to go along with Koda’s Warmth?) staff. I think it is a beautiful tool and it would be a terrible waste to leave it just as a torch.

About somewhere in 2014 the Aviator Sunglasses on female charr got some sort of messed up placement that doesnt match the eyes at all, and its stayed like that for a very long time.

Here I show a -recent- example of the issue, as the “fun in the summer” update for the Black Lion Trading Company reminded me that I had the skin, I thought the sunglasses would have been fixed.

While on the store, the sunglasses show up completely normal as they should be

I would just like to know if the skin could be fixed, they look incredible and I love them to bits! Thanks a lot for taking a moment to read this post.

Hello! i would like to post this thread in order to make known of a couple bugs i have been experiencing with this new living world update.

Upon updating my client and logging in to do the closing ceremony, i noticed that NPC names were showing all the time! but also that not all the npcs names were beng shown, for instance; at the black citadel Ash legion soldiers, Adamant soldiers and some Soldiers name were shown all the time, and other npcs such as Cub or Citizen were hidden as normal, also worth mentioning is that such npcs name disappear as i approach, and their models may disappear or appear instantly depending on my distance to them.

To make things worse, Player models are not loading at all, instead what i see is people wearing default white armour, whether medium, light or heavy, their real equipment is completely hidden.

here are some pics i hope are useful.

pic 1- i am pointing at the charr scholar, the scholar closest to me has her name hidden, while scholars at the end of the hallway have their names on, as if i had the “show all npc names” box ticked.

pic 2- Player character models bugged as i descripted above, my character behaves completely normal.

Greetings community of GW2, i would like to briefly explain the reason of this thread and its title.

A couple days ago my cousin came to my house to check this game, and he was completely amazed by it that he bought himself an account, that was 2 days ago to be precise, so he went back to his house and installed the client. Next day he calls me and tells me that he cannot access the game, and that his account has been suspended. We do not know how this could have happened, as he has not even created a single character and therefore, could not break any rules.

We have been looking for an answer to this problem and have found none thus far, so i feel it is neccesary to bring it to the forums in hopes that someone will be able to give us an answer. I will repeat, he did not EVEN get into the game and his account was suspended already. It is a sad matter if i am honest.

thanks for readin and hopefuly we can get an answer to this problem-

Hello! i am posting this thread as a result of the jubilee update, i am not a very old GW2 player, but i have been told, by more than enought people, that there are a number of Gem Items not available anymore for purchase, but that were quite good-looking, one of these as the title suggests, is the Quiver worn by Rox, a NPC that appears in the jubilee update.

My suggestion and purpose of this thread is in fact, to encourage Anet to bring such items back, at least for a limited ammount of time, i understand that it may be a now exclusive item for those who played before those of us that are new, but putting them on sale for a weekend or so, would be a nice detail for the new members of this ever-community.

Therefore, i would like to know if this is a viable or possible option, or at least, i would be grateful to recieve an explanation as to why such items are no longer available.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and possibly answer my thread possitively.
