I’m back!.

After a stint in JQ and the teir one league I took a small “forced” vacation and came back to find my guild for the most part blown up and disbanded.

So I figured i might as well pack up and come back home to NSP.

KROGAN BOMB!!!

you know it! Cold …and I’m deadlier than ever.

Just remove PPT, it really can be that simple

Making it PPC (Points per Cap) won’t solve anything… removing PPT won’t solve anything…

Both of those methods take away from the fundimentals of wvw and encourage karma trains…

I think… PPT should be revised so that upgraded items give more PPT than non-upgraded items, this would encourage people to defend their towers and camps rather than just forming a train to take it back after timer resets. Then add an outmanned buff increasing player stats dependent on how many people are attacking that tower/keep…stats only apply to player(s) defending that one tower/keep under attack. or vise versa.. outmann buff a 5 man squad attacking a 20man defended tower… but either of those buffs only occur if the server itself is outmanned… these buffs would help servers with lower pops keep up with high pop servers.

I think this would make it so wvw would rely more on stratagy and well co-ordinated small groups vs the current skill lagging blob v blob mentality. Map coverage would dominate, building siege and holding onto objectives would wind up being more rewarding than simply training through and capping everything

Unfair Transfer Price

The price inflation covers the increase of how easy it is to now make money compared to say a year ago…

Champ farm in Frostgorge sound for a day or two… transfer paid for.

Maybe my view is skewed since I played FFXI for so many years… where you payed 14 bucks a month for your first character and an extra doller per character thereafter + they charged a server transfer fee… so considering that… buying a few bucks in gems… or farming the gold for it just doesn’t seem that bad.

Keep in mind its these transactions that fuel future developments of the game, seeming as their not drawing in monthly cash from you the only way they can keep paying dev’s, programmers, ect that give you constantly new content is through gem store sales and initial “box” sales.

That is why almost every “Free to Play” game has a “cash shop” of some sort, at the end of the day… they need to pay their staff, server fees, ect… and turn a profit.

and of course… don’t you get a free server transfer if you delete all your characters? (I’m not sure… and I’m not willing to axe mine to find out)

If your going to Photoshop Troll… do it right and use the clone stamp tool…or at the very very least sample the blue color and paint over with that, don’t just use black and expect me not to laugh at you…. and you know don’t fail and scrub out half a bloodlust buff icon with your paintbrush.

Photoshop troll fail.

I’ve talked it over with some friends, and after some deliberation I’ve decided that I will most likely be transferring to Jades Quarry, mainly because not only did Decisive Cat post a reply, but took the time out her day to have a chat with me in game and not only can I appreciate the time and effort, we also have compatible personalities so I think I would fit in well with her guild.

I wish the rest of you the best of luck with your future endeavors and thank you for extending your invitations to me.

NSP Player looking for new WvW server

Hello all.

I’m currently looking to change servers from NSP to another server with a little more WvW organized focus.

I have a level 80 ele, described as a “Krogan”, usually because I’m kinda crazy enough to run full tilt into the enemies group and start wailing on them with my daggers.
(If you seen a white/changing weekly color ele with blue hair and a little NOOB tag beside her name running at you… that’s me). :P

I’m also working on leveling and gearing Mesmer for WvW (only 32 currently) as, although I love my ele, the consensus seems to be that ele’s are laughable in… just about every area of the game.

What Im looking for:
- Casualness/laid back. I like organization, but not to the point were any failures turn into the blame game and temper tantrums.
- I play my way – I listen to directions, I listen well, I put in my 2 cents when I can, I’m open to build suggestions but at the end of the day, Its my character and I will use the build I like and weapons/gear I like.
- Low Requirements – I play when I can, If theirs designated WvW days, I will try my best to make it, but I don’t want to pay to transfer only to be kicked out because I don’t play 5/7 days a week or i’m not repping 100% on my alts. I have a full time job and all that other RL stuff, and that takes priority over game, as it should.

what I’m offering
- I feel that I’m a competent player, I’ve lived through stuff on my ele that would make some guardians cry. In WvW I have a high survivalist factor… even considering that I’m probably the lowest armored class (its either ele or mesmer) in the game, I’m usually (not always) one, if not the last one to go down(and I don’t hide in the back).
- I have 100% world completion, need to do a guild event.. yeah I got that waypoint.
- I have a commander tag (on my ele), if its needed. Comes in real handy on bounty hunts.
- I’m a variable Jumping Puzzle master, need help with a JP.. most likely I can guide you through it. (There are a very select few I wont go near again though)
- I have both Teamspeak and Ventrillo.

How do you kill a thief?

in Elementalist

Cortalia.5467

This might be a silly question, but I’m going to ask it anyway.

Did Anet intend for one profession to be a hard counter to another like Thief is to Ele (judging by all these responses by presumably experienced players)?

I mean, from what I’m reading here, with equal skill levels, no matter what build an Ele runs, he will always be beaten by a Thief. Is this how it’s supposed to work? Are there examples of other professions being hard-countered like this?

No its pretty much just Ele’s… on the other hand I outlive all my guildmates in WvW when the kitty hits the fan.

That being said.. I can’t 1v1 beat any experienced player except for another ele, the odd ranger and engineer.

When It comes to Thiefs… I play the “see if you can kill me before I make it to the tower” game. I roll with a bunker D/D ele, and its basically a coin flip, either he gets me, or runs away cuz he gets tired of kitten ing on me, or I make it to a safe zone.

But i’ve had to disregard alot of power, condition damage, everything… in order to break 3K armor before buffs, so between Evasive Arcana (aoe fields, healing/blind, ect) double Armor of Earth (1 auto from triats 1 utility) Mist form, reaper of grenth (unblock-able chill and poison), auto-arcane shielding, ether renewal, frost armor, ice spikes(dagger skill three, aoe chill) and other moves like burning speed that knock back, or leave lingering damage fields behind you… they usually get tired of kitten ing on me and go pick on someone else, it more or less depends on how persistant they are or their build… not much you can do against the glass cannon build, just way too much damage for you skimply armored ele to handle.

That or you have better things to do so you let them stomp you and port back.

Elementalist feels very underwhelming

in Elementalist

I find that with a staff I feel the Elementalist does feel underwhelming, but thats just my playstyle. However when Im rocking my d/d ele, I’m continuously tossing might stacks and heals out like candy and most of the time I’m the last one to go down in wvw or dungeons. (not including the thief’s that run and hide).

After watching me play, i’ve inspired a guildmate to try out ele, he runs a scepter dagger build thats completely different from mine, he does more damage and more boons but can’t survive like I can, regardless he’s totally digging the ele vibe.

So their is versatility to the class, there are different builds but I think its because as a whole the clsss is so versatile you don’t really get the specialization that other classes get.

On the flip side of that… I don’t need to change gear, or traits to do this or that. I’ve done dungeons after some WvW…. and I’m good to go while others are needing to change utility skills, traits and or gear to get ready for a dungeon run.

As for raw power, its not that we don’t have it, its more like its spread out, over 75% of my skills are AoE… so instead of doing 2500damage to 1 enemy Im doing 500damage to 5 enemies, the same damage is inflicted, but its just spread out over a wider number of people, but instead of having 1 crit chance I have 5, thus in the end im more likely to do say 500 500 600 600 500, so 2700 total. (these aren’t real numbers, i just made them up for simplicity sake)

So unlike other classes where you set up your character to operate in one or two specific ways elementalists have the ability to do whatever depending on how you use the abundant amount of skills, you can chain skills together that stack conditions, or stack abilities to give boons, or chain them for maximum damage output.

So no… I don’t think Elementalist is underwhelming, its just not as set in stone as other classes and as a whole I think its way more flushed out than your typical “mage” class of other MMO’s, I’m not stuck in the back flashing out High DPS spells hoping you don’t get one shotted by 80% of everything around you, instead I’m usually the first ones running into battle going blow for blow.
