DaanClash- Engineers could rule all of Tyria, all 6 of you :p
I could go into more depth than mentioned above and how other character who are not gun focused have better animations than a gun focused class. But the Engineer is bottom of all server population stats by some margin, there is no argument.
So weirdly enough I play a lot of Team Fortress 2 and my fav class is you guessed it…Engi.
So I come back to GW2 after a few years and join a guild as a Warrior. Looking at the roster nobody out of 150 people play an Engi, perfect! I can be totally unique.
Then comes the realization, they just suck, and I don’t mean skill or damage wise (which they also kind of suck at too) I mean the way all their actions work. It looks like a character they just added in to make up the numbers.
An Engineer is mean to be a gun wielding bomb and tech master. The problem comes that all the single pistol animations look like he has never handled a gun before. The best animation by far is the thief duel pistol rapid fire that looks amazing.
Lets look at the dual pistol Engi and his main attack, he only uses one pistol, but I want the action to look like a mix between a male Lara Croft and a mafia gang lord!
Now the rifle, all the animations are again weak, it’s almost like they got the Warrior gun animations and the Engi ones mixed up. The Warrior rapid fire actually looks ok, but double the speed and add the sound effects of a bit more grunt and that would be more like it. Also the warrior kneeling shot again feels like an Engi skill but should have a big blast animation to go with it to give it that “have some of that” feeling.
Next lets look at the turrets, or maybe not because they all look pretty rubbish.
Lastly add to the mix that they are average in damage, animations and general helpfulness, they are joint worst for out of combat speed.
I know i am going to get comments like “But if you keep swapping kits you get a speed boost” and “Bomb kits are really powerful”. But I say there are lots of classes were you get a perm speed boost for doing jack. And after you have killed about 5 enemies using the bomb kit you have had to concentrate so hard and click so many times you will most likely need a shower. Also you have no argument because 2 years ago my guild roster had 1 possibly 2 Engi’s out of 150+ players, I come back join a guild to find that has dropped to the grand total of zero.
So Areanat I post this in the professions balance section to ask the question. One day will you make this class any good so people actually choose it? Because you have done a great job of making this class totally worthless.

I had the same problem and followed Toast’s and Harms advice in the last post. Go to the path on the right, stick to the left hand railing and go all the way to the corner, it triggers
Well actually I am a little surprised by the responses in that they are constructive and balanced backed up with knowledge. If this was the Diablo 3 forum the topic would have been locked for abusive comments ages ago.
Really glad they did a good job with GW2 for the majority, just need the little fixes like brining the engineer up to par
I started as an engineer and decided to re-roll as a ranger and the difference is massive.
Now I know there are people who will say l2p but I think he needs some love, even the warrior has better rife skills than this dedicated rife class.
Just to backup the idea that the engineer needs some love my current guild roster of active players:
6 Guardians
17 Warriors
3 Engineers ( highest level is 67)
12 Rangers
9 Thief
10 Elementalist
8 Mesmer
7 Necros
Now this isn’t a big enough sample to be statistically significant but even other places such as GW2Census shows that nobody loves the Engineer because he is a jack of all trades king of nothing.
Who wants to be “sort of ok” in most scenarios? They should give him some focus.
