I’ve decided to come back to playing GW2 again. I can’t install it. I downloaded the game client. I run it and every time I do it runs down from downloading the game from 28 kb/s to 0 kb/s and stops. It’ll say it’s downloaded so many KB so far, but always seems to crash. I’ve set properties to run as admin, turned off antivirus and firewall on both my router and computer. What is wrong with the forum? Anything I try to search always turns up 0 finds. Even through as I browse through it I see the keywords and topics I’m looking for.

So I’ve done everything.
Repaired, deleted the ‘Local.dat’ file, used only 1 GPU – nothing happens.. Still the same, crash when I open the Hero panel.

AMD (Quad) CPU = FPS Issues?!

I have AMD 8350 @ 4.2ghz and frame problems. I don’t think it matters what kind of system you have. The game just isn’ t optimized very well. Arenanet won’t address the issue or even acknowledge it exists but whenever there are little group of players are not playing characters my friends drop down to 30. It use to run at 60 everywhere but in cities it would be at 40 but now its 30 almost anywhere. Arenanet really needs to fix the problem. Dragon bash isn’t that fun because my frames are in the 20’s.

I don’t understand how a game that won’t be pub-lic (sorry the GW2 forum prevented me from saying it out printed at publiiccckkkka I love how they senser.)until 9 days can fix frame rates in their major city, Protectors Enclave, and GW2 can’t optimize. I have a beefy system, no matter what I make the seeings the FPS jump from 19 to 32 in towns, and 38 to 63 in open field areas. I’ve had this problem since I got the game. I’m liking Neverwinter and Dragon’s Prophet more because they are running at higher frame rates than GW2. GW2 will continue to suck. Soon as people upgrade their machines they won’t has as good of framerate as a midgrade.

can i play on ultra?

CrazyD.5046

I have an i7 2.80GHz, nVidia 680m 2.0GB graphics card and 16GB of DDR3 RAM and I’m still not able to play on ultra without a significant decrease in fps, so it’s far over my head as to who can in fact play on max settings fluidly without any noticeable fps drops. :\

You have a mid range system and they do work well on ultra for some reason. My system is at the lower end of high end

AMD 8350 @4.2GH
16 GB RAM @ 1866
GTX 680 /w 4GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
128 Samsung 840 Pro SSD
1TB Seagate HDD
and 950 Watt power supply for when I want to get two Titan Cards put in.

I get choppy and framerates bouncing all over the place. I play practically every game on ultra settings at 60FPS, an MMO shouldn’t have graphic specs that have outdone single player titles. I know GW2 pushed the graphics for longevity. Almost every MMO is a step behind the higher end games, lets say a Crysis 3. There should be no reason this game can’t run at a constant 60FPS or higher than 54FPS.

The quieting is people leaving.

I havnt been in game for a while now, i ofcourse keep updated and pop in now and then and keep an eye on the tech forums to help ppl out. But as for actually playign the game fully, nah.

I haven’t really been playing since Southsun Cove or whatever it was. Before the addon I would get 28 – 38 FPS in cities and 58- 63 anywhere else like open fields. Since last months addon I was getting 18 -21 FPS in Southsun Coves open field areas and in some of the small cities on the island. Only the first city was a constant 60 fps. Not only that it seemed my frame rates ingame worldwide have dropped and there is a lot of areas that go from 38 to 63 FPS adding choppyness. I wish they would fix the problem because Neverwinter Nights has listen to fans and they’re going to optimize Protectors Enclave in their next patch, all the while for months (or who knows perhaps at launch) GW2 developers haven’t optimized their graphics. It doesn’t matter if I lower my setting or anything the framerate at low settings is the same as when I max everything out. Something isn’t working correctly with utra-spec machines. The longer it goes on, and people upgrade then notice this problem, the more people GW2 is going to loose. I want to like this game but Dragon’s Prophet and Neverwinter both have constant 60fps and I think Dragon’s Prophet’s combat system is better than GW2.

DCUO locks it’s FPS at 30 if I’m not mistaken. Making it impossible to ever play at a “choppy” rate.

Yes DCUO does lock the 30 FPS. But I think after a resent update they may have upped that a little. Because, I’m getting real smoother graphics now. Not 60 fps smooth, but constant.

Someone suggested Aion on one of the threads about people with good systems having low FPS. I’m liking Aion so far, constant 60 fps, not at good graphics as gw2 but it uses the Cryengine. It has pop up graphics, like many MMORPGs. I’m a close beta tester for Dragon’s Prophet and I’m liking it better than GW2. I lke DC Universe Online better than both of Dragon’s Prophet and GW2. I actually pay for it and I’m willing to pay for any game that is enjoyable enough, and has high frame rate. So far only DCUO is the only game I’m willing to pay. To people that tried DCUO and didn’t like it, get a PS3 controll and download a program that reads the controller input and try to play it. Plays a lot better.

Am I getting the FPS that I should?

CrazyD.5046

You may. The game is CPU heavy and 4.2 Ghz plays the best when you crank up all options. However people with beefy machines, like mine don’t get good frame rate as lower end systems. It’s still a mystery that Arenanet won’t acknowledge and sometimes deletes forum threads to hide the issue. But having your CPU overclocked to 3.6 you should be fine.

My Specs:
AMD 8350 @ 4.2 GHz
16 GB RAM @ 1866
GTX 680 /w 4 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD

I don’t know the problem but I was geting 32-44 FPS in cities and 58-63fps everywhere else. However, now, since a patch 3 weeks ago and others having same problem. I get 19-24 in random places and 43 – 60 everywhere else. The 43-60 FPS is a big range, and it stutters at times now. Most modern games I play run at a constant 60 FPS or go from 55 to 63 FPS which is hardly noticeable, the average being 60 FPS.

Low FPS with EVGA GTX Titan SC

Hi! I got my GTX Titan two days ago and so far in games it preformed well. BUT, in GW 2 it just struggles, if im in LA and turn around it dips to 10 fps, so say in every other region it just fights the framerate. Im currently on the 314.22 drivers, and this was no problem when i was on my old GTX580.

Is this a driver issue or an issue by the game itself?
And, has anyone else experienced this with the Titan-card?

regards

Fixxer

Don’t listen to these trolls talking to you. What is your CPU and at how many GHz are you running? The game was never optimized for the modern hardware, meaning that beefy systems have bad frame rate issues. Whenever one of these posts appear the will disappear when the community forum is making sense of the issue. So far I’ve gathered that GW2 isn’t optimized. Arenanet won’t say anything about it or acknowledge it as being a problem. Daily people come on the forum to kitten about it, and as more reply surface on the issue and people start calling Arenanet out, suddenly the post disappears. It’s a cover up.

Great game but the developers did something wrong in either the engine build or programing. I was getting 58 – 63 FPS everyplace but in cities where the frames dropped to 28 – 40. Since a patch a few weeks ago I sometime get 19-24 FPS in certain areas. Also my frame rate now bounces from 40 – 63 FPS when it use to stay around 60fps out in the country side.

GTX 680 /w 4 GB

There was a thread a few days ago I wrote on it, now I can’t find the it. It was about someone had a beefy system and had low framerates just like you.

All games you guys have been stating are different games.. they use gpu and kitten when you are comparing this game to any other make sure they are mmo’s for the love of god it’s 2013 know the difference.

Let me compare other mmorpgs I play. DC Universe Online runs at constant 30fps because that is where they lock it. Neverwinter online runs at 60 fps except for Protectors Enclave which the developers are working on. Dragon’s Prophet I have everything cranked up and runs at 60 fps. So lets go to 2013. Bioshock, Tomb Raider run as 60 fps everything cranked. Older games that have better graphics than GW2 Skyrim 60 fps, and Far Cry 3 54 to 60 fps, and Assassin’s Creed 3 at constant 60 fps on my system. To go back further Crysis 2, Arkham City, Deus Ex: Human Evolution, and civilization V(which does take hefty hardware to run max) all are at 60 fps maxed out. The Witcher 2 everything but Ubersampling are on and it runs at constant 60fps. I don’t know if you work for Arenanet and are trying to make players shut up about an issue high end systems are facing, or if your just a troll. Either way you are a kitten and maybe you should join 2013. If you have a low end system then of course it’ll run the game smoothly for you, but those of us who have money and are willing to build a high end machine are disappointed.

It’s sad because mmorpgs have a long life, but when people upgrade to a better computer it’s going to make many players upset the longer they put off fixing the problem. They’ve got to be aware of it, but I never hear anything from Arenanet on whether they are going to fix the problem or are working on it. When Nvidia had issued with Tomb Raider they fixed it fast. They also fixed Assassin’s Creed 3, Arkhem City, Far Cry 3, and Bioshock Infinite among others within weeks of their release. Comon Arenanet listen to you PC enthusiasts with powerful machines, you know they are willing to put down money for a beefy machine, so they’re more likely to buy gems and make purchases in the store. I’ve been holding off on buying anything with this game because I noticed the frame rate issue from the start. I like to play my games at 60fps or higher on 1080p maxed out.

The update two weeks ago has made frame rate drops worse than it was. At least I was getting over 30 fps before, now it goes down to 21. Why don’t the developers work on this. Like before I think it’s the Nvidia cards. Although on the Nvidia website it says that it supports this game.

I have the same problem. My system is high end and this game jumps around in fps. In cities I get 34-46 fps, everywhere else I get 58 – 63. Recently some other players have noticed a frame rate drop since the updates last week. When I’m in the new Southsun Cove I have jumps of frame rates from 60 to 21 fps. I don’t know why this game isn’t optimized, but one thing in common with people complaining of frame rate is that they have a Nvidia card. Really wish they could fix this problem. I tried what is suggested in the forum to help with Nvidia cards, and it only makes a difference of like 3 FPS. Hopefully the developers are aware of this and fixing it. I don’t like it when FPS drop below 45 in a modern game.

I already have frame rate issues with my hardware for reasons that are unknown. I get 38 – 44 fps in cities, and 58 – 63 anywhere else. I started the new content and my frames stayed around 60. When I got to the crab toss they drop to 21 – 24 fps. The surrounding areas also go from 60 fps to suddenly 21 fps and it stays at 21. I wish I knew of an optimization or a fix.
