HoT story when fighting Mord within the instance use of the rift will not remove the invulnerable state, however the rift will dissipate resulting in permanently blocked progress.

This same bug has recurred across multiple logins and days as I’ve been trying to help my friend finish her story. This bug has also prevented me from gaining credit for the achievement during that battle as the fight is unable to be completed.

The back piece can NOT be made in a single season, the gift if fortune IS in the game, its the same one used for all legendarys.

Some of the achievements in each tier can be done at any time during the league such as the mist essence ones and the crossing divisions ones.
All the other achievements cant be done until you have completed the previous meta achievement

So minimum you will need to play a total of 60 days during league seasons, but the real time sensitive requirement is the crossing divisions achievements, for these you will need to cross a total of 10 divisions, so if anet is going to remove the achievements after a year as they have been indirectly implying, then you need to hit ruby at least twice and saph or higher during 4 seasons to cross enough divisions in time

the 15 day achi, how is the wording, must we play 15 days in a row 3 matches daily to complete it?

Text is “Increments each day after playing 3 ranked matches”
and there are 15 total increments to finish it.

The first 2 tiers are gated behind 15-day intervals.
The final 2 tiers have an achievement instead that requires you to get a ton of top player awards from what I can tell.

I’m not sure this is accurate, there are 15 day achievements at every one of the four path of ascension levels. Note how path of ascension 4 lists "daily league participator elite as one of it’s requirements, thus unless the number of days within the participator category in the last two steps (3 and 4) is lower than in the first two steps it’ll require 60 days minimum to complete all four levels.

You forgot 3 things:
Condi reaper can solo those 3 alone.
DH can kill them with eyes shut.
Druid can laugh at them while at full hp.

Simply not true, all those builds (maybe druid not so much) get countered pretty heavily by condi-rev + bunker-mesmer comps…. That’s why we see almost no DH’s and reapers anymore when just a few weeks ago they were all the rage.

Maybe it’s a play time thing, or maybe it’s a division thing (I’ve only hit Emerald so far) but I see lots of DH. There were usually at least 2 in every match I played last night with the height being 3 on one team and 2 on the other.
There were quite a few reapers and condi-rev as well, and I only encountered one player running bunker mesmer all day over a play span of about seven hours (not solid play there were breaks for food and IRL in there).

Whatever the reason for the difference in experience as of yesterday DH were the single most common class I encountered.

Again please link me a correction if I am in error here but if that 15 day time gate stands, and is per level that’s a 60 day requirement for full completion and with the season ending Jan 25th it only contains 56 days.

Even if we only address the first three instances of this time gate that’s still 45 days, which is of course more doable but the real pain point here is not that you can’t finish the meta achievement in under 15 days per step, but that you can’t even begin to work on the majority of sub-categories until then thus preventing you from getting credited for anything you’ve done before the time gate opens.

Am I misreading this somehow, or is it perhaps a bug?
Currently the only requirement I have left before completing Path of the Ascension I is Daily League Participator – Recruit which can only be advanced one step per day and has 15 steps. I’m somewhat newer to the game so maybe I’m reading this wrong but from the looks of it this requires 15 days of play (so until about the 14th of Dec, while this round of League only lasts until Jan 25th) before you are able to complete this achievement required to advance beyond step 1 of 4 in the Path of Ascension progression.

Currently almost everything in the other three sections displays as locked giving the impression that I cannot progress in any of them regardless of my performance until I pass this 15 day time gate. Is this perception accurate? If so could anyone shed some light as to why this was chosen as a game mechanic?

EDIT: Just to be clear my primary goal here is to understand so I can properly project/plan a path to completion (or realize I don’t have the time/skill to reach completion yet). In other words my question seeks information, it is not intended as a commentary on the system.

10 min dishonor for a dc

Same sort of thing happened to me, the Guild Wars 2 client hard froze on me I had to manually restart it. I immediately re-entered the match but it was just ending.
Counted me has having abandoned the match and gave me a dishonor timer.

Difference in my case however is that I wasn’t having network issues (I check it and my connectivity was fine) yet still the game assigns punishment as if I’ve dropped out of a match in purpose.

Hey all,

We discovered an issue with the Halloween Festival that we wanted to share with you: The festival activities are not giving Mastery experience for characters that are level 80.

This was not an intended mechanic, but with the festival underway it would be extremely risky to attempt to correct this right now. Weighing the options, it’s best not to take a risk that could impact everyone’s ability to play Halloween content this year and in future Halloween festivals, as well. We will be taking a look at the festival code after the Halloween event ends and we hope to have this situation corrected for next year’s fall extravaganza.

Of course it is a pity not to earn Mastery for my characters during the events but bugs happen and it is great to hear this isn’t an intended mechanic just a quirk of the code.

Perhaps this will give me extra incentive to level up some of my lower characters a bit more

Regardless I will happily take more news over less news even when the news itself isn’t ideal, so thank you again for keeping us in the loop on this.

The grind. I hate how to progress you now need to farm masteries. Hours and hours worth of brainless farming. That’s awful and unskillful game design right there. Maybe they should have created more maps instead of forcing us to do boring events over and over again to proceed.

I blame the SW trains, by which metrics Anet came to the decision that players like hours and hours of mindless farming. So they added more, and this time made sure that everyone (except the holy spvp, heaven forbid the esports are affected), especially wvw players, now get to spend their leisure time in pve grinding out masteries so they can get out of pve and back to what they enjoy (that will mainly be EB now, new BL maps= ghost towns).

It is my understanding from reading the blogs that you can earn masteries within WvW. Specifically the ability to earn them within WvW was the reason that liquid world experience has been removed in favor of instantly consumed boosters.

At present I believe the situation is

  • PvE, earn masteries within PvE
  • WvW, earn masteries within WvW
  • sPvP, have everything unlocked within HotM only, as per the usual method.

I am hoping that WvW and PvE hold to their usual method as well and anything unlocked in one applies to the other but have not verified this as yet.

They need to alow gem store mini’s to be used in the forge.

That would be more than satisfactory. I was hoping we might see an update to these mechanics along with the HoT release but I imagine they have their hands full for the moment. Hopefully we’ll see this issue addressed sooner (say before the Christmas items go on sale in the gem store) rather than later.

I opened a Black Lion Chest today and a Miniature Hawk dropped. Normally, I’d be thrilled, but it happens that I have owned that mini for well over a year since it was first released in a package of three birds – the owl, the hawk and the raven. I really like the idea of the mini, but since it’s account bound I can’t sell the item and choose something else on my own with the proceeds. It’s one thing to be able to correct it yourself, but otherwise, I feel like the programming on the Black Lion Chests should include a comparison to the existing mini-catalog for the account opening the chest to prevent this problem in the future.

Aside: I did open a ticket and ask if support would simply give me a different mini. The answer was no and please go talk about it on the forums, so I did. Thx!

Same issue (and was also instructed by customer service to post here about it), I don’t mind taking my chances with the RNG when opening a Black Lion chest. However having now 4 (6 if you count the ones that unlocked the minis for me) copies and counting of minis which are instantly account bound off of a random drop, well that’s discouraging to say the least.

I’m a player new to the game, several weeks in at this point, and I’ve been enjoying myself quite a bit. I’ve pre-purchased HoT, picked up a few skins, and spent gems rather consistently on unlocking Black Lion chests, but honestly I’m not really inclined to continue doing that when one of the results of spending my money on gems for keys can be “here have another copy of this mini which will only take up your storage space”.

If I could do anything with with the minis; trade them, sell them, give them to friends, use them in the mystic forge, I’d be quite happy.

Just like the OP I was thrilled by getting these minis the first time they dropped for me, but having payed for the instantly account bound extras to fill up my inventory off of a random drop was disheartening.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this, and for the overall great experience provided by GW2 so far and hopefully this one rough patch can get some polish
