Backstab, Blood is Power, Heartseeker, Kill Shot (which would then take form of it’s name literally.), Pin Down…

The Norn Racial elites.

You need only imagine.

Well with Kill Shot x10, you’d need to charge it for 17.5 seconds to kill one person, meaning immobile and not interrupted.

Got this from a TF2 thread a while back. So ignoring the current limits of the game, have some fun and post your favourite skill/trait/rune/anything with stats multiplied by 10. You can copypasta from the wiki and just multiply the numbers by 10.

- If a skill were to kill you on use, instead it would leave you on 1 hp.

- If the chance of a skill/trait exceeds 100%, it would guarantee a proc with the excess allowing for another chance to proc again in the same instance:

i.e. 30% chance to crit x10 = 300% chance to crit = crits 3 times in one instance.

If 25% x10 = 250% crit chance = guaranteed to hit twice with a 50% chance to hit a third time.

I’ll start:

Shadow Refuge

Stealth: 30 seconds (per pulse)
Healing: 14,200 (3550 per second)
Combo Field: Dark (x10 so basically a black hole in terms of vision)
Range: 6000
Duration: 40 seconds (pulses 50 times within the duration)
Cooldown: 600 seconds
Cast time: 2.5 seconds
Cost: 60 skill points to unlock

Have fun

@Croth

You might want to read it again.

We know it only a 2-3 second different. People also know how to cancel stomp.

Still, having 2-3 class with guaranted interrupt, making them survive 3 more second, is a big difference in a team fight.

When I downed a Warrior, Necro, engineer, some ranger -> “Nice easy stomp”

When I downed Mesmer, Elem, Thief -> “Oh Well, no safe stomp.”

And don’ tell me you don’t think that. Except you are a thief, so most stomp are safe stomp since you can stealth/blink stomp.

And calling people “baddies” while over looking the entire thread, won’t make your argument any better.

I think we can keep this discution civil, without calling names and all.

So in a team fight, do you concentrate on taking the first downed guy out or do you keep attacking him/her while downed so you can simultaneously support teammates?

Stomping someone is instantly killing them from downed state, rather than doing the 20k+ damage normally, hence the trade off is a long-ish cash time, leaving you vulnerable.

Some classes can mitigate the vulnerability by using their class skills. This is a unique aspect of the game which I think has a positive effect on the game by making it interesting rather than having everyone only having skill 4 so it basically comes down to if you’re down, you are prolonging your death, OR if you are both downed, who presses heal first.

Mesmers, thieves and eles have more of an advantage while downed because they are generally squishier when alive? <My opinion

Rangers, I feel bad for because their downed skills are kind of kitten unless you get the underwater pet res.

I don’t have any experience with engy downed skills but from what i’ve read, is there a possible combo in conditioning your attacker and then use pull as they nearly finish their casting animation, pulling them to you, then launch straight away, continuing to condition after? It seems almost a viable combo as thief #3 then #1 to throw a poisoned dagger with a bit more damage.

they’re still going to be insanely overpowered. they will still stealth every 3 seconds and still dish out 8k+ hits.

wait and see.

Well you can’t have the best of both worlds. It’s either stealth every 3 seconds, and do negligible damage, OR do insane damage by popping most, if not all of your cool downs, meaning having no escape mechanism if your initial attack fails. Also note, that insane damage is applied to a single target only.

It’s pretty funny reading through this thread and what I’m mainly seeing is baddies pressing the stomp button, sitting there and watching it fill up, then whine that it didn’t kill someone.

Protip: You can actually cancel your stomp channeling by pressing esc.

I main a thief, and their downed skills, while strong and annoying, hardly ever allow a rally unless fighting a baddy who doesn’t know how to swivel their camera around to check their surrounds. Thief downed skill number 2 is a tele with a max of 600 range, meaning they won’t move any further than a typical short ranged attack. You just have to be patient for a few seconds.

1) Agony resistance might be bugged during your encounter, I personally have had no issues myself though. Do note that at level 20, mob/boss hits are quite painful so avoid them even without agony.

2) Defiant now stops fear as of a few patches ago.

3) Just try to kite in a clockwise fashion and when it stops to heal, have some sort of interrupt or stun. Stun is preferable because it can bypass defiant for when its needed. To apply damage constantly keep it superheated.

4) Again damage from the attack itself is more than enough to down at 20, unless you are bunker build, in which case you were probably under overlapping circles when the ice shards hit, thus you were hit twice.

5) Not sure about this one.

Not sure if working as intended but:

At the krait event at the lab behind the beach where Tequatl spawns, with a 20+ person group, the 3-4 champions that spawn hit for 15.5k with Impale, and veterans hit for 13k with poison cloud. Some of these have red circles but with the amount of people plus the culling, it’s almost impossible to see before you get instantly downed.

Note: I am running a glass cannon thief, but even at level 80, champion mobs don’t hit me for 15k in a group event.

So apparently the Icebrood have learnt to build underwater arrow carts that fire hundreds of spears/harpoons at the Quaggans at Moshpoipoi. It is so effective that it seems to have broken the space-time continuum.

Agony resistance isn’t damage immunity. It serves to reduce the agony condition damage. The actual attack that applies agony also does direct damage so even without the additional agony damage, the hit itself hurts a lot at 20.

Most attacks are quite survivable at lower fractals and can be brushed off by most classes just fine. My experience is that most of the direct damage are replaced by agony. For example, the mining suit pound or the shaman arrow at fractal 10 deals much less damage to someone with 30 AR than they do without agony.

Yes I agree at level 10 things are a heck of a lot more survivable. However, we are talking about level 20 where not only does it hurt more, it hurts a lot more often as well with the bosses seeming like they attack almost twice as much. ie. after dodging fires, a few arrows beforehand, the Shaman can target and fire two of the agony arrows at you and with no endurance to dodge, you have to take it to the face. In this case, it hurts more than the agony (assuming 25 AR).

FYI: I am a glass cannon but with some of the parties I’ve played with, I get downed/die less than those they insist they are guardians/warriors full tank spec and try to face tank it and die instead of learning to move around properly.

Either you’re exaggerating or you’re the unluckiest person alive.

I pugged from level 2 to level 31 and I’ve had to quit ONCE due to someone disconnecting.

Ah but you see that’s exactly what I thought until that time. I would usually get 1-2 bad parties at most, then roll a new group and we’d go through it as usual. I also did suggest we try to pass it on several occasions but some party members just auto leave or click the back to lab button and others join in. Normally by the third fractal if there’s a person that has left, we try to get through it.

How does a warrior who doesnt know what an elite skill is and doesnt know how to dodge make it all the way to lvl 20 fractal? Maybe the guy was asleep :P

You know I asked exactly the same question, as did several other members. One replied, “On the sore shoulders of others.”

You can overstack AR and be virtually impossible to damage.

So…

Spent 6+ hours today trying to do a level 20 fractal daily which I previously haven’t had trouble doing in an hour or less.

1st group: 2nd fractal – dc – people leave.

2nd group: 1st fractal – dc – people leave – we all come out to restart – dc again during 1st fractal.

3rd group: 1st fractal – lvl 80 warrior who doesn’t know what an elite skill is, auto attacks all the time, dies constantly. We finally manage to get through to the second fractal – Cliffside – someone DCs, people leave.

4th group: 2nd fractal – dc – people leave.

4th group 2nd try, we advertise for more people, enter and again someone dcs during the 2nd fractal – Cliffside. We try to 4 man it and fail, port back and quit.

5th group: getting more people and starting off with Ascalon, we get to the inner courtyard and as we start killing mobs, someone DCs. People port back and end up leaving.

After all this, I can take no more. Is it really that hard and game breaking to add an option to re-enter? Why does it take so long to apply what should of been a hot-fix? I already know it’s coming at the end of the month but how many more groups get to fail because someone DCs until you understand that people don’t like to 4-man dungeons that have been scaled up.

At this point I’m physically exhausted from having to constantly remake groups and fail time after time to even get past the 2nd fractal when normally this shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m trying really hard not to throw explicit language around but I think this time you deserve it.

Get your kitten together Anet.

OK EVERYONE LISTEN CAREFULLY. I might have found a way to START a new server with the event STILL GOING ON!

All you have do is join a party with someone in a server with the event but that is full(lets say me).
Go to LA and take the boat to Southsun Cove. This should bring you to an empty server with the event starting. Then you can invite more people into it via HERE!

Please everyone try this, that’s how I started my server and I think we managed to get another one running. I can’t guarantee that this works 100%, but it is worth a try!

Confirmed Working for me.

Seriously, what the kitten is being done about Thieves?

I never thought this game to be so unbalanced so far, even though I know Thieves can have an insane burst if they want to, but insane survivability as well now?

In most of the posts I’ve read regarding thieves being OP, people seem to always claim thieves can do all of this at once. As a 400+ hours thief main (no alts) you actually need to build your thief appropriately if you want to achieve either, and there’s no such thing as insane burst AND insane survivability.

A pure stealth build would take all your burst utilities out in favour of stealth skills, as well as usually trait for mostly stealth abilities. These thieves usually don’t build in terms of glass cannon, hence why their stealth prolongs their life even more. From my observations, these people usually try bleed, not sure if any others since I’ve only played glass cannon.

A pure burst build would use burst utilities, thereby removing their stealthing skills aside from their heal and cloak and dagger (if running d/d). They would also most likely spec traits to do as much damage as possible and run glass cannon. As a glass cannon myself, in full exotics – I barely reach 11k hp, and know that if i get any stealthing skills besides my heal (for the condition removal), it will reduce my damage output.

So if a thief happens to run a balanced or hybrid build, know that they will be a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Why don’t you just be grateful for the fact that we are getting exotics as a drop at all (besides superior runes)? Before this, I have never gotten exotic equipment as a drop with about 350 hours of gameplay…i’m wondering if this is part of the loot buff they were talking about…

328 hours. From mobs and world chests i have gotten 0 exotic items (inc equips, runes, etc). Dungeons rarely rune of balthazar maybe 6 times in over 200 runs or so. 100% map completion for 70-80 zones would give 2 useless exotics that were lvl 70-78. Other than that nothing…

I’m just wondering why they would design a shoulderpiece which becomes obscured after wearing the chestpiece which is a full body robe, effectively making them useless cosmetically, as is the point of dungeon armour.

Would it be possible to add an option to display above the chestpiece?

I did this one last night. Took about 20 minutes to figure out but its of right difficulty in my opinion. What we did was wait near the torches. We would then signal by typing ‘r’ to indicate we were in position to kill the mobs. The mobs were then killed and we typed ‘p’ to indicate we were in position to start the torch. Someone would type GO and we’d all press it as soon as we saw the word GO.

Each torch has an area where you can stay relatively close without aggroing any mobs. Each party member just needs to concentrate on their own mobs and signal ready.

Good luck in your attempt
