Personally JP are some of my favorite content in game.
In fact my best memory of the BWE is working up Loreclaw Expanse over an hour with 4 random people at lvl 12-18. At the top we got crushed a few times by the true boss of the place, Captain Ravenwood (Champion ghost).
As far as I could find she is just a very rare spawn. Any chance could get an answer on that and if there are other rare spawns in the game? Barely even info on it online, there was also the collapsing ceiling at the real chest and the fire arrow barrage behind the waterfall.
My favorites off top of my head in no specific order are:
Hidden Garden
The holiday ones
Skipping Stones
All the Asura Labs
Loreclaw Expanse
Gryphon Rook run
Sharkmaw Cavern
Tribulation Caverns
Anyone else here regurally take random people on JP tours? Seems like at least 1/3 of the population still has no clue they even exist, or only a few. I give them a WP, hints, then follow them as they explore, and occasionally give them a portal if they fall. If you ever take someone into Sharkmaw tell them to look up when you first enter the main cave, great view gets a wow almost without fail.
For those interested in the new JP, or as he calls it “the mother of all jumping puzzles” and “a new type of dungeon”, there are some posts by him on the GW2 Reddit. Refreshing to have a dev talk candidly and explain. http://www.reddit.com/user/Ragged_Scrybe
GW2 may still be in it’s post launch experimental period, but so far so good. Just hope the proof of concepts and experiments get looked at again/expanded later, like Modus Sceleris for example alot could be done with them.
Agreed love Fractals, spent abot 1.5 hours duoing a set of them, both of us lvl 80 mesmers me using only a few exotics. Uncharted (the asura one people discussed), Aquatic Ruins, and by far the hardest Cliffside (free the collusus)
Fun, hard, and difficulty isnt tied to just a giant health pool. Definetly plenty of eye candy, on cliffside when I was looking around for screenshots and first look up. Wow.
To those complaining about the Jellyfish there was a mechanic to speed up the killing and completely wipe out the small jellyfish. The cages with lightning that turn on and off all over damage everything near by quite a bit and fast, you can out heal the damage the jellyfish though just get wiped out. Seems to do signifigant damage to the big one too.
Looking forward to what they do in the future, could see this being like sPvP where they add new maps occasionaly.
It really is up to the players. Me and a friend , both 80 mesmers but with me only having a few exotics, duoed a set of rank 1 Fractals earlier. It took awhile but was fun and very much doable, the only wipes happened while we figured out the mechanics. By far the hardest part was freeing the Colossus. Our Fractals were Uncharted, Aquatic Ruins, Cliffside.
Of course we are both jumping puzzle veterans so that likely helped, overall I love what seen of Fractals so far. Planning to do full group run tomorrow.
I have not logged in today but a major player that HOD was facing in our BL last night was the Fort Aspenwood guild NICE, I never bothered trying to count but I am certain they had groups of at least 10 and often much more than that roaming. They are actually the only guild I especially remember from last night, mainly due to them showing up at supply camps in force then building multiple ballista as soon as taken.
What was said about us lacking organization is true, HoD is somewhat a month behind other servers in the organizing and community building due to TA just being to competant for us to have/be able to do anything lol.
That said I have noticed a pretty big improvement each week, the prior 3 weeks we had literaly lost all within 30 minutes of reset then started recapping a little as people trickled in an hour later. Now we put up a good fight all night and switched in and out of second place PPT for awhile last night.
We already have a handful of new guilds forming, the one I am in is HODR, and a few commanders. Our communication is improving, and we are even starting to place more defensive siege. Last night managed to take back our Garr using a mesmer who hid, and a bit later wipe out a large push to take it back from inside our lord room and kill their 3 golems.
Although from what I hear a big issue in EB last night was a new commander in there taking his whole group and just having it killing the grub and not doing much else tieing up numbers we didn’t have, I was not there just going by what saw in BL chat.
We are even starting to get queue back in our BL occasionally. So right now the issue is purely in numbers, we have at most enough to cover our BL and our EB keep. I have noticed a pattern over the past week’s matches. Since the TA days we were not the best weekend, which is still true now. It is partly just a morale issue though, there are still alot who do not even bother looking at WvW anymore after our couple week stretch of 0 PPT.
Seems there are about 3 multi hour windows where we do quite well, then those people log off over a 30 minute period and in the 1-2 hours before the next window opens we lose everything due to not even enough people to man the siege in one location. It really is a sudden drop off, go from having a que to outnumbered before know it. It really is a pretty regular pattern each day of late.
Well sorry for the ramble, being brief was never a strength of mine lol, glad we had good fights and showed good progress last night. Looking forward to it improving when fewer enemies come end of weekend.
Interesting build and different from how I do solo/group in WvW. I am on HoD so have had to learn how to mess with overwhelming zergs, rare to find any sort of small scale fight save for thief ganks, and due to it being seemingly impossible to get the people around me to use portals had to get used to doing it on my own. The result is what I call the solo portal bomb, do not think ever seen others do it for some reason til i taught them.
I do not kill often doing this, although down or nearly down quite a bit, that isn’t the goal though. It is basically staff sword/focus portal in safe spot, charge in stealthed, Chaos storm/armor, then drop iWarden Veil Feedback in any order, finally cast the portal exit while using Blurred Frenzy to do damage and cover the portal drop time. Done right I can dive right into an enemy zerg over and over without being touched, sometimes dont even need stealth.
As I said above it does not kill but the sudden appearance of 3 reflecting fields, a bunch of damage (around 4-7k once all done reflects not counted) in middle of them on their siege behind the aoe, the aoe pull, multiple clones, and 3-10 stacks of confusion on average tends to cause the enemy zerg to look inward and pull back momentarily to where my portal was. So 1 mesmer doing this can cause a zerg to pull back for a moment which can create an opening for your team. I certainly find the chaos and confusion it creates fun regardless of effectiveness, a good team will use the opening a bad one won’t so it’s value can vary aside from helping to take down siege.
Most of the time doing this I tend to focus on enemy siege, particurly fun when they stand on a cliff to be pulled off. Sadly being the only one going and with the cooldown the catapult rarely goes down unless it is one of the profoundly rare occasions I can rally someone to go with me.
Of course I have not made the effort to get full lvl 80 exotics yet, and due to that using piecemeal runes. So it is bound to be more effective for those better geared. My build is something like 20 20 10 20 0, the 10 is just because I wanted the fall damage trait which has also proved useful when jump down to a ram and obviously focus is traited.
Watching this video makes me think could fit a shatter build into the strat to add an extra few k burst, all that is really mandatory in it is the portal, sword, and some way to get past the battle line into the middle of them before they can react (I use stealth). But meh I love my mass reflection lol.
If wonder how I stack up all that confusion it is not a combo, it is due to a seemingly little used Domination Trait 8. Of course can always swap out the GS trait there too when need it.
Portal counts as a glamour field and due to it’s small size people will run in and out of it many times quite fast stacking up confusion quickly. So after portal out people mill around where you were, or run into/out of the feedback, stacking it up on themselves without knowing it. If just fight small scale can use it offensively too by placing 2 portals near each other and kiting/pulling people across it forcefully.
Sorry I ramble a bit and went a tad off topic, cannot provide video. Hope I do not come to regret posting this lol. GL&HF, did enjoy the video. Glad to see there are some mesmers out there who know their stuff.
