I’m sorry you deleted all your alts
It will be much harder for you to unlock traits right now, as they changed it to require either open world achieves (like “Lornar’s Pass Completion”) or a pile of money + skill points per trait. Alts made before last April’s feature patch were grandfathered in to full unlock just via leveling, except for the 5 very top grandmaster traits that were added.
They have said they’ll be changing the trait process again, but we don’t know when.
Sounds easy enough, not a big deal. I wouldn’t want to play an old character.
Haha I may well have to try an Elementalist! Maybe I’ll just make a bunch of characters, I’m sure I have the time before the xpac comes out!
Thanks muchly for the info! I’m curious how different this “NPE” is compared to the experience at launch, so that should be interesting. I might roll a Warrior or a Necromancer, see how that goes.
Greatly appreciate the input, thank you.
Oh, really? Well crap lol. I guess I’ll just pick whatever class and see what happens!
I played this waaaaaaay back in the day, from launch for quite a while, and now I’m interested in coming back. I deleted my characters because they were kind of potatoes and I really enjoyed the leveling process, unlike most other games, so I’ve decided to start fresh.
What I’m curious about is how the classes stack up nowadays. Any class OP at the moment? Any horrendously under powered? Balance? I used to play a Warrior, and they were monstrous back in the beginning, easily able to take on multiple people at once in PvP and come out alive. I understand that’s not the case any more.
All of your links are broken.
I despise mounts in any MMO. They’re completely unnecessary. Don’t be lazy, just walk.
I definitely hope there’s a patch. I want to get Frostgorge Sound and Straits of Devastation done, but noooo, stupid bugged skill challenges -.-
I disagree, I enjoy playing the genre. It’s just the companies that make games these days add no innovation to their product. I enjoyed playing WOW 7 years ago.. It’s just the players have moved on, but the game designers haven’t. One of the main reasons why it really gets on my nerves when people constantly defend this game, they are not pushing boundaries of games, they’re settling for mediocrity and hindering it from pushing forward.
I see nothing mediocre about this game. This has got to be the best MMO I’ve played yet, and I’ve played a lot of them. Only one other MMO could hold my attention like this one, and that one closed down some years ago because hackers decided it would be a good idea to release a dupe/account hack and it destroyed the game. Guild Wars 2 is leaps and bounds above all of the other games I’ve tried, and I didn’t even like GW1 lol.
There is very little end game, go look at the numerous posts on the inital two pages of this forum. IF your looking for serious pve content youd best look elsewhere.
The game is mind numbingly easy and the most single player anti social MMO i have played.
The no trinity system is a clusterkitten.
Evrything has inflated costs or intends to annoy you so much that you reach for the crdit card and buy gold via the Black lion trading company.
All just my opinion of course.
Woah woah, single-player and anti-social? Really? This is a VERY social game, at least on Blackgate it is. People are always just randomly chatting with each other, making new friends, finding people to play with. It’s pretty rare to be doing a dynamic event, for example, without a bunch of other people there, helping each other.
In fact, this is probably the most friendly MMO community out there, it blows my freakin’ mind! I’ve played a lot of MMOs and most are full of kitten bags and idiots, people not wanting anything to do with the people they’re playing with (which is kind of redundant in itself), crap like that. In this game, people help each other just to help each other, no need to ask, no need to offer, it just happens.
Im glad your server has a good community. I can only comment on my experiences which are different.
Maybe that’s your queue to find a new server then
I don’t feel pressured to buy gems at all, but I do buy them sometimes. About the only things I buy gems for would be the Box o’ Fun (drop one in Lion’s Arch, people flock to it, fun is had), Mystic Forge Stones, maybe a few Black Lion Keys, and dyes. They’re nothing I can’t get in other ways, but hey, I’m absolutely loving the game and I’m happy to help support ArenaNet through the item mall. Gold is not an issue.

I have a wonderful idea for how to fix this issue. This should work for the most part. Constructive criticism is welcome, of course.
“Auto attack” swinging both weapons:
-Reduce #1 skill damage by 50% when dual wielding
-Double the attack speed with #1 skill when dual wielding (maybe a little more for more damage?)
-Effects from #1 skill that are applied on hit (the sword’s bleed, for example) are applied every second hit

What will you do, cancel your subscription?
No, but me, and a lot of other people will just stop playing, leaving you with a lower population, and leaving you with a feeling of loneliness.
Please, please do. Thanks.
You seem to equate loneliness to less trolls. Fine by me, I will embrace this said “Loneliness”.
Good god, yes! It seems like everybody who trolls in the game is one of those WoW kiddies. Personally, I can’t wait for MoP to come out, because a lot of them will disappear! lol
Yay for crashing to desktop?
Level 80, Human Warrior (bleed build), 10/10
There is no “best” profession.
The focus is whatever each player wants it to be, end of story. If you want to focus on PvE, that’s the focus of the game for you. If you want to focus on PvP, that’s the focus of the game for you. There is no main focus aside from players being able to do what they want, and there’s plenty of content for both PvE and PvP.
I was thinking, a lot of people don’t have credit cards and PayPal takes forever to transfer money from your bank account, so I think we need a new payment option for purchasing gems.
I’ve seen multiple other games that allow Interac Online for purchases, maybe that would be a good option here. That would allow players who only have a bank account and online banking to make purchases without having to waste time/money on a prepaid credit card and/or PayPal.
E-sport = bad idea. Plain and simple. Stop with the e-sports.
I’m having the same issue. I just bought the DDE with gems and no Mistfire Wolf skill. Hopefully, this will get fixed soon…
I’m quite enjoying the warrior, actually. Some things are a little weird, like I’ve never played a game where a warrior can use a rifle before, but hey lol.
Like you, I like the whole melee combat thing in games, I don’t play ranged characters much. I would suggest maybe trying a guardian if the warrior seems boring for you. You never know, that may be more what you’re looking for Good luck!
I’d say I’m pretty good at timing my block and using 3 to interrupt. The utilities are certainly going to be a little tricky to figure out, but at least switching those up is free, unlike traits lol.
Since I’m still levelling, I’ll stick with traits that just boost my damage/crit like crazy and the good ol’ no-brain 5 signets. Seems to work well for levelling. After that, for traits, I’m thinking… 30/30/10 in Arms/Tactics/Discipline, and I haven’t figured out which major traits to pick yet. That can come later.
While levelling, I’ve been using mace/axe + rifle, and I’ve been absolutely dominating with it. I’m wondering if this is still viable at 80 and/or in PvP/WvW? Anybody? I’ve not listed the traits because I’m still working those out (just hit 60, time to redo!) in hopes of finding something snazzy.
TheForbídden is a laid back guild focused on having fun in what ever way you’d like in GW2! If you’re just into PvE, that’s cool. If you’re big into PvP, that’s cool too! Just don’t go around being a schmuck to other players, keep it dapper.
Requirements:
-Must be active (I’m not saying you have to play all day every day, but at least once a week).
-Must have a sense of humour and be able to take a joke. We like to bash on each other for kicks, we’re strange like that.
-Level requirement? NONE! It doesn’t matter if you’re level 8 or 80!
-DO NOT beg for items/money, you will be kicked from the guild immediately.
-DO NOT act like a tool to other players, you will be kicked from the guild immediately. Keep the game friendly!
-Speak English
