The only issue I have with GW2’s loot system as it is now is the worthless – yet somehow plentiful – sigil thingies I keep getting. Why they would change this for something that seems so inferior to the current design, I cannot fathom.
At a glance, my guess is at follows – It’s not going to save me bag space, it’s not going to save me time, and it certainly isn’t more ‘interesting’. Heck, it might take up even MORE of my time just to figure out what to do with what events and things give me.
This really seems like yet another of GW2’s attempts to do something new and exciting (or old, but brought back because it was supposedly new and good when it was implemented) because….reasons.
Anet, the wheel works already. Stop putting in new wheels and just improve your current wheel ;o; Pls.
Would help knowing the details of the build. I know there’s a chunk of vulnerability frames at the end of the staff 5 Vault skill…but IIRC there’s one more ability out there somewhere used for the ‘perma’ evade thingy.
It appears the bug has been fixed. The Soothing Mist tooltip now adjusts to properly show the heal value depending on whether or not you have the trait.
Unfortunately, the thing is still awful. 3400 healing/10 sec with the GM trait, 1700 without it. The value has actually gone down a couple hundred as well from the last time I checked.
This issue was first brought up in the elementalist forums at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Question-on-Soothing-Mist-and-Soothing-Power/first#post5968561 .
The Water traitline gives a buff called Soothing Mist. Soothing mist currently does not work properly. The GM trait called Soothing Power, which doubles the healing of Soothing Mist, works properly.
The first screenshot is of Soothing Mist without the Soothing Power trait active (190 heal/sec).
The second is of Soothing Mist with the Soothing Power trait active (382 heal/sec).
The third is the tooltip of the Soothing Mist trait with 984 healing power – 3,568 heal/10 sec.
The heal ticks once per second. 190×10=1900/10sec without Soothing Power, and 382×10=3820/10sec with Soothing Power.
In summary, Soothing Mist heals about half of what the tooltip says it does. With the trait to double its healing, it heals just over what the tooltip says it does.
Tooltip says I should get – 356 heal/sec without the Soothing Power trait, and around 712/sec with the trait.
See the linked thread for someone who lists the formula for the healing.
After putting together a healing set for my ele today, I decided to test the numbers.
Without Soothing Power trait active, it healed for 190/tick. With the trait, it was 382/tick.
However, the tooltip shows 3,568 heal/10 sec, with interval of 3 sec. Since the 190 and 382 ticks popped up far faster than once every three seconds, I’m assuming the 3sec interval is the application of the Soothing Mist buff.
At a wild guess, the tick speed was around 1 second. I’m left wondering what exactly the Soothing Mist and Soothing Power traits do. It seems something is very wrong with the Soothing and it’s not healing as much as it is supposed to.
190/sec certainly won’t reach the tooltip value of 3568 within 10 seconds.
Am I missing something? Figured I’d post this here first to see if you all know something I don’t. Thanks!
Hello! I’d like to join. I’m a casual raider/PvPer. I’m currently leveling all classes to 80 because 1) I love pressing all kinds of different buttons and 2) To get better at PvP/raiding.
Right now I’m spamming solo-q unrankedm atches for tomes of knowledge on muh druid. I’ve got a mesmer, necro, ele (sobs right before the nerfs…), and engineer to 80.
I’m hoping to find some people I can just randomly drag into a queue /o/
I prefer condi personally, although have been lately trying out zerker.
Imo condi has better options for tankiness and you can pretty much walk through events at a leisurely pace. It’ll be easier, albeit will take slightly longer.
I’m currently running full toughness/vitality/condi damage gear with Blood Magic/Spite/Reaper, pets and that 10% heal off condi damage. I imagine it will work just as well with more damage focused condi gear. I’m playing around with Shouts, and taking the 50% damage reduction as well as the one that generates might can further improve your solo ability (since I assume you won’t be using vit/tough gear, the 50% damage reduction can really help)
Mind that’s just from personal experience >.>

Bad spec/ bad video.
This is how NOT to play a dire Mesmer.
Bad post/ Unconstructive.
This is how NOT to post on the forums, particularly the Mesmer forum.
You walked into the wrong thread, buddy ;D Have another go though, you might learn something.
I can post my opinion. Your build is bad. The video is even worse.
My post is very constructive . it will steer players that don’t know any better away from this sub par build.
Your opinion is worthless without support. Meanwhile, the OP has given a build link and a video. That’s a lot more support for their stance than you’ve given for yours.
As someone who just started hopping into PvP today on a Mesmer, I’d pay more attention to the OP than you :P I’m be glad to take advice, but your presentation makes you look foolish.
OP – if you would, what changes would you make to your build to adjust it for sPvP? I’m avoiding WvW due to being impatient. When I want to kill things I want to kill things -now-. I’m currently jumping back and forth between a power/crit/ferocity (greatsword, 1hsword-shield – here http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAR8encfC9fi1fCufCEgilUjicAOgAo8DSuupeZr2sF-T1RBABFtBAaKBNUTApq/oxTA4LlfAcRAAA-w) switching back and forth between Lost Time and Chronophantasma. Plopping down the damaging well, stunning with the shield 5 and then going into sword 2 is kinda amusing.
aaaand condi build http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQJAbWncfC9fi1fCufCEgilejyMAuA1jar+qovWHFDA-TlxHABOpEksNAm9JAoo6PAcIAKS5HA-w
WIth this one, I try to maintain 100% uptime on Protection via staff 2 on wells or staff 5.
I’ve been pondering trying for an interrupt/chrono-well build. Any advice on that? I imagine I’d switch out the damaging well for the Mantra of distraction. I really have little clue on how interrupts work though, so any information on that is apprecaited as well I assume
Lastly, nice video…although the first kill was kinda bad sportsmanship :P
I just got to the final fight in the personal story as well and found it absolutely awful. The amount of bugs – I had to do it three times, solo – hnnnng….
Nice to know it’s not just me. I mean, Zhaitan sounds DEVIOUS during the story, but makes sweet sweet gentle love to a stone pillar while I fire cannons at his face? Errrr…
Could someone toss me a link to the video? I pull it up on twitch and it somehow manages to switch over to some random other video >.>

It will show up here eventually. Always check Dulfy for updates, they always upload POIs and Ready Ups before just about anyone.
Thanks much!

My very first roleplaying character (who is about two years old now) was a sorcerer/mind magic type. When I brought him over to GW2, Mesmer was the only one that fit. The more I find out about the class, the more it seems to match with his personality and how he was in other games, and so the more I love it.
Even though I’m having a whole lot of trouble finding a weapon that I like >.>
