Currently most(?) or at least many trophies you gather for a renown heart (event?) are useless after you complete it.
Just happened again, I finished the work by killing and got left with a few useless “Defense Plans” that have no value, cannot be transferred and I can’t get rid of them unless I destroy them.
Why can’t I give them to the original collector? Even if he’d only give something like 1 karma per item, it’d be better than just destroying them.
(I know I could just wait for the next iteration of the even – if it repeats itself – but I don’t want to wait since I might not even be around here anymore.)
[edit]Changed to renown heart, thought they were events too. Can’t change the title…

To explain in more words: give us time to actually learn the rules of a new game, instead of just throwing us in with minimal instruction, expecting us to learn how to play by osmosis or whatever.
Perhaps add a choice option somewhere, so experienced players can just jump in, while beginners can take their time actually reading the instruction and thinking over it.
I’m not too keen on random group PVP anyway, but this makes it even worse – I’ll play bad enough, I don’t need more sand in the gears.
And I certainly don’t want to be forced to read countless out-of-game sites just to understand how to play the game – it’s the job of the game to explain it to me, not the job of unaffiliated sites.

Currently, bodies with loot “glitter” and some seem to retain their names.
However, when they lie in high grass, you hardly see it – and during an event I might have better things to do than loot every enemy I slay.
Afterwards, though, it’s often hard to find the loot because the glitter is almost invisible and the name, if present, is lower than the grass and obstructed by it anyway (see also camera->opaque object->me) .
So I suggest adding some sort of loot marker – either some symbol that is visible from afar even if there is high grass (or whatever), or a marking on the minimap.
Perhaps I just didn’t find it – since most other games I know do have it – but in GW2 any object that comes between me and the camera stays opaque, forcing me to manually rotate the camera until I find a way to peek through, or simply attack/evade while blind.
Which is, to put it mildly, VERY annoying.

Sorry for the ridiculous title, but the forum doesn’t like a more fluid sentence, because it would contain too many characters – which for some reason cannot be prevented by restricting the input field?
When the servers are experiencing problems, it might be a good idea to actually tell the players somewhere.
Not on Twitter, or Facebook, or another exclusive club where you have to actively go to instead of playing the game, but on the launcher itself – the one thing EVERY player HAS to go through.
Half the launcher screen is actually empty – you could post notices there, so people won’t waste time trying to fix their own internet connection when it’s actually the login server that’s broken.
Apparently the topic may only be 45 characters?
It might be wise to actually limit it to 45 characters then, preventing people from using more than the allowed number of characters in a topic title.
A quick search suggests that the attribute “maxlength” would be the appropiate one.
[edit] Out of curiosity – do you actually WANT people to create topics called “suggestion”? Because every time I try to put in a descriptive title, I get the message that it’s too long…

As the title says.
This morning (i.e. about 8 hours ago) I tried to log in into the game – didn’t work.
I tried to log in to this forum – got the message that the password is wrong.
Now I log in – using the SAME password – everything works just fine.
Quite likely the same problem in both situations. VERY annoying.
I read this and logged out. Lost all motivation to play. Will log back in when it goes live to see how it goes.
You know, it’ll make a bigger impact if you don’t participate in that event – be offline, I mean.
Surely they’re tracking how many are attending.
(Of course, it’s easy for me, I’m not around a PC when the event is. Was sad about it before, now not really.)
but after 2 months they have realized that a mmorpg HAVE to give to the “hardcore” players some to play for.
Well then, why not plainly say so?
(Except for possible investor backlash, of course. Which are more important than actual players…)
Can you imagine the stock when a PR openly admits their company is struggling?
Good point.
I’ve always said that the stock market system is beyond ridiculous. Companies are going down because they don’t make enough additional profit…
(Huh, come to think of it – kind of like item progression. Scary.)
For god sake have a little understanding, will you?
I have understanding for those who explain their problems to me.
If they’d actually took the time to explain what’s wrong, I’m sure many would come to accept it more easily.
But it is rare to see a game developer do that, for some reason. (Must be in the secret manual.)
Stupid, to me, is believing that expecting the game to be exactly like what was promised even when is popularity is going downhill.
Maybe. Expecting honesty certainly is stupid.
I’d probably have less problems with that if they clearly stated the problem and their solution.
Not that I’d really expect that from any game developer. They all seem to like talking around the issue.
Loyalty, to me, is sticking by the company that brought you the game you loved so much (Gw1) and understand the difficult situation they’re currently facing.
I think I fullfilled my loyalty quota by buying the CE even though I knew there would be MANY things I intensly dislike about GW2 (lack of secondary profession, skills, for example).
I had faith that the rest of the game would be great enough to justify it. Until this it almost was.
Secondly, they made it very clear that this Ascended gear AND the Infussions will be released very slowly, it will be delibretly gated for many months even years before we get the max Infussions sloted into our gear.
Where did you read this? The blog looks more like “this is just the beginning, we’ll be bringing in more and more!”.
But if you are actually “LOYAL” you would stay and play the game despite the change, would you not?
You confuse “loyal” with “stupid”.
Loyal is buying the game even though you’re not sure you will like it as much as GW1, but have faith in the company.
Stupid is continuing to play (and perhaps spending real money) it after the game changes beyond what you ever thought it would be.
Forums are the worst place to get a survey.
True enough.
But it wouldn’t be that much of a problem to poll everyone who has an account, by placing a link on the startup-screen, would it?
Sure, multi-accounts would skew the result, but probably less than counting rage on the forum or throwing bones.
Some of us actually want to support a game if it’s good. Not by what some manifesto/blog said.
Problem is, going against what the game was supposed to be means for many that it isn’t a good game anymore.
I’m not too thrilled about the game as it was, now I’m even less enthusiastic.
Enemy becoming harder is …..bad?
But they aren’t becoming harder, are they? You get better gear to keep up with them.
WIthout the pvp factor, the new gear is essentially for PVE. So what’s wrong about being able to kill stuff faster OR having something better to work towards rather than pure skins?
What do you mean “being able to kill stuff faster”? If the new gear is better, then the enemies will also become harder.
Otherwise the carrot could be reached, which would defeat the purpose.
Its the people who did play Guild Wars 1 that are raging and saying “leave my precious Guild Wars 2 just like Guild Wars 1” Don’t ever change a thing darn you!!
Do you really think that GW2 is anywhere near to GW1? Apart from name and story there are hardly any similarities anymore.
(That itself doesn’T make GW2 a bad game, though.)So it must look like a wow clone. amirite?
Don’t ask me, ask the devs. Me, I’d have been perfectly happy with a straight continuation of GW1.
I’ve come to accept the new game called “Guild Wars” 2.
I’m not sure if I should accept the new carrot-system, though.

honestly most people here are all about GW1 and wanting to make the game exclusive to GW1 fans.
While many would appreciate that, it would have been quite OK if they had stayed true to their original claims.
I don’t kittening care if i have to farm all again with my main, i love farm. If GW2 didn’t had DE and just normal kittening grind(kill every mob on the map) i would love more this game.
Problem is, that was exactly what GW2 was NOT supposed to be. It was supposed to be grind-free, with only minimum farming.
Obviously that changed. Next up: Go kill ten rats…
I never thought the exotics was the end. I’d have quit if it was i couldn’t imagine 0 new gear from here on out this is it and some cosmetic upgrades enjoy.
That’s how GW1 worked – it seemed to have worked rather well, they could afford to make another game, after all…
People are so quick to leave if one thing doesnt go our way?
It’s not just “one thing” – it’s “one more thing”.
Wether you like GW2 or not, it does have the potential to polarize. People like me may yet play it – because it IS better than the rest. But there is so much I find disappointing that another “wrong feature” might be enough to break the camels back.
I thought gear grind implied that you were barred from completing content unless you had a certain level of gear…
People are elitist. Not having max gear (assuming it gives a measurable advantage) will likely mean being excluded from groups (dungeons in GW2, I’d think).
nearest-first was on BWE1.
and it was horrifying. melee was just impossible.
Please elaborate – I don’t see why it whould be impossible? Targetting the enemy closest to me is what I’d always look for.
that’s why they made the change
And they didn’t change the hotkey description?
Im not opposed to them adding an option for it, I just think there are bigger problems that should be looked at first.
I have to disagree.
Targetting currently is broken beyond ridiculous. At least that’s how I experience it with my axe throwing ranger.
Quite often there is an enemy right in front of me/my character, and I select “target nearest enemy” and what gets targetted? Not the enemy in front of me, but the one behind that – which is about twice as far away from me.
(And usually not even aggroed.)
Same thing happens often if the enemy is somewhat at the side of me. Apparently “nearest enemy” means “randomly chose an enemy that doesn’t attack you”.
To be fair, these enemies are sometimes a bit below my position – so perhaps the improved targetting engine simply can’t take height difference into account?
Or does “nearest” mean “closest to my true level”?

Any update on when the unfillable buy orders will be removed? It’s rather annoying to see that message with every second attempted sale.
Also, I’d be in favor of a time-out for sell orders. Make it optional, I’d use it. (Currently I have to manually clean out my sell orders every few days – hardly worth the effort at my level, I might just scrap it all.)
