Is this thread suppost to be discussion of OP’s opinion, or where we each post our own.

I disagree with almost all of OP’s cons.

Heres my list:

Pros
-Visuals still great even for a 5 yr old game
-Casual nature of game great as an MMO for those who dont want to devote their playtime 100% to 1 game
-Elite specs good way to expand classes
-No subscription
-Details put into maps, dialogue and lore are great and immersive
-Gliding is fun
-JP, minigames ect are fun addon to main game
-Game still being developed with content added consistently

Cons
- Pretty horrible armor customization for a game thats 90% about comsetics. Outfit system is bad. Trench coats are bad. Buttskirts are bad.
-Bugfixes are almost non existant
-Dungeons are abandoned with content removed.
-LS S1 still unplayable. recap doesn’t cover it.
-Event scaling on newer maps is unbalanced and needs adjusting so events can be done when maps are empty.
-Lack of replay ability of content due to heavy story elements that are unskippable
-Guild missions abandoned, SAB development abandoned.
-Balance patches are far too infrequent and game is very rarely in a good state of balance, especially in PVP
-PvP and WvW modes negelcted. Changes often make things worse rather than better.
- Seems like ANet have no intention of making new races playable which makes me sad

Next xpac is called PoF ?!

I’m guessing either a joke on the rumored project code name Papaya

Well PoF would make sense with because papaya is the word for P in the phonetic alphabet. I was 99% sure it the name would begin with P because of that and PoF obv fits.

xp for mastery

what is the best way / even chain to farm xp for mastery point nowaday?

Your goal should be to have fun, not to max your character as fast as possible.

Dude asked for advice not for a lecture. If he wants to only play efficiently and ends up getting bored thats his loss and his choice.

If you want a ‘true vanilla’ experience that can be achieved by just buying a secondary HOT account…You wont have any “gold, outfits, transmogs, specialty bags, gliding and other cool stuff” at the early levels.

Race should matter! A short rant.

None of you has made any argument that makes it more equitable to not have race matter (at least in the story!). On the contrary, it’s like you are defending having less variety, “because”.

If the race mattered, we would have less variety. All warriors would be Charr or Norn, all Rangers would be sylvari, all engis would be Asuras. That’s an example of course, we might have ended with a different race/class pairings, but we would end up with those. That is exactly why race doesn’t matter buildwise.

Still, more emphasis on player character race should be made in LS and personal story,

This is an assumption not based in fact.

Its an exaggeration but the basis is true that people will chose to play the race that is objectively stronger and synergies best with their class. Unless all racial skills are perfectly balanced (unlikely) then racial skills cant be worth using in combat at all because race stop being cosmetic.

I hate this idea. Adding an additional racial skill slot especially. If there is a slot purely for racial skills, then 1 skill will be better than the others and lead to pressure to play that specific race. Unless they are perfectly balanced, racial specific skills shouldn’t be used in combat at ALL, unless for RP purposes.

Storytelling I could maybe get behind but making each step unique per race means the steps are shorter and have less depth which imo is not a good trade off.

[Suggestion] New Class - The Merchant

I think your suggestion is developed well but it will never ever happen. Nor do I want it too.

Not only will the entire world become cluttered with afk shops, the risk of scamming increases tenfold as well as chat spam by shops trying to sell their goods.

This extra policing from ANETs point of view will 99% be too much to make the idea worthwhile. On top of this, the trading post is the #1 gold sink in the game and to reduce the amount of items sold on the TP will increase inflation hugely.

So you don’t see the distinction between hunting / killing animals in the wild and not liking to see your pets fight?
.

I guess we should give the option to delete the entire ranger class too then if seeing pets fight is a problem.

As I said, military and police bring their service animals into combat situations, yet I know from talking to them that they don’t allow them to fight with their other pets at home. That is the distinction – home vs “work”.

Weird because my 2 cats fight quite a lot in my own home. If we are going down the ‘whats realistic route’. When 1 wants to play and the other doesnt it often turns into a fight.

I wish home instance was more customizable too but to do so for this reason seems unreasonable oversensitive. I mean you are playing an MMO where you kill animals ALL the time….

You could also try reducing your screen resolution, making sure your graphics card drivers are up to date and changing the refresh rate of your monitor.

tbh that would be something I would love and spend a stupid amount of gems on. I met my partner in gw2 (together irl now) and having a title being his wife would be awesome.

LFG dungeons?

The tags in LFG don’t allow groups to choose which kind of run their looking for. And the option to Merge doesn’t give anyone notice of what the groups tag is that you’re merging with. It makes LFG less coop cohesive. If it’s a speed run vs a more casual or explorative run there is no distinction on the merge. LFG can create a hostile environment if this isn’t reigned in. You can’t out level material, so there is no quote easy mode for those interested in the backstory or just the skins of gear in older content. It would be beneficial to allot material to scale vs the group size to give more readily access to this part of the game.

Theyre never going to make dungeons scale as dungeons are dead content as far as ANET is concerned. They will never get updates or development and the only reason they haven’t been removed from the game is the outcry from the community would be too huge.

I think its a resonable suggestion to have official exp or casual tags but it seems abit unnecessary for me. It wouldnt stop people who want to join the wrong group from merging as the game cant read peoples intentions for the run. Personally I find the ability to write your own group description, and kick people who dont follow them enough.

If you issue is you just dont want to play group content then im afraid dungeons arent for you.

Maybe the point should be…don’t skip over content to get a ‘shiny’.

Game kinda forces you to go to HOT as soon as you hit lvl 80 though by spamming you with ‘unlock this mastery’ popups

Disable mastery hint

HI its me, OP. I sent a bug report and a support ticket when this happened to me. Support replied saying sorry but they cant do anything about it and would forward the issue to the right team. Never heard anything back so i guess its a low priority bug.

All I can suggest is to do what I did and rush through the first 2 instances of HOT story so masteries unlock. It does contain pretty major spoliers but if you turn off sound and try to ignore the words you can avoid some. You dont need to finish personal story to start it, just go to story journal, Heart of thorns and click start this episode.

Is there any way to disable the popup that appears when you exp bar is full and a mastery is ready to train? It appears in bottom left with a big orange !

I am playing through the story and dont want to go to HOT to unlock masteries until I have finished lw2 but this stupid hint is appearing every 5 seconds on my screen and is making the game unplayable.
