Human, male, heavy, T3 - Greatsword clipping

Lets keep it short and crispy! The title already explains the scenario.

Please look at the first 2 attached screenshots.

The first 2 images show the situation while running:
- The Greatsword clips once partly through the back (no screenshot, but it is only a bit)
- The Greatsword clips once quite a bit through the back (see screenshots)
- Effect is awfully obvious when wearing a prominent Greatsword skin (Legendaries..)
- Is not spontanous, repeats with the running animation
- Effect less pronounced/not visible when wearing another armor

Now the last 2 pictures..

The last 2 pictures show the situation when jumping from a standing position:
- Greatsword clips tremendously through the players back
- Choice of armor does not matter, the Greatsword will clip
- Most likely also affects characters using the same rig as humans: Sylvari and Norn?

Now.. Yes.. i don’t know what kind of an answer i am supposed to expect but my hopes are that somebody at Arenanet acknowledges the issue about the “hinge” of the Greatsword and offset to the player body while sheathed…

More screenshots with different Greatsword skins and armor configurations maybe on request, considering i am wasting transmutation charges because of this.

On your second picture, center of lower half, there’s a wreckage of another airship deck in sight. You can also reach that FYI. But… The Beta map has it’s ceiling capped so.. no.. you are not able to reach the totems (thats what they look like to me), because you would be teleported back… Just try to reach the top of the wreckage you stood on to take the screenshots, you will be teleported onto a lower part of it..

How will HoT deal with pc performance?

32bit works on 64bit but 64bit doesn’t work on 32bit same with DirectX, so creating a 32bit DX9 client provides the widest reach.

considering how much money it will rain when HoT hits ANet should consider its options to develop a SEPERATE 64bit client or at least a 64bit DX12 one, of course not for HoT, but for the expansion after that..

I have no problem with ANet developing with a heavily modified GW1 Engine, it lets users with slower machines run the game, but what i absolutely hate are the limitations that come with DX9: No multicore rendering, only a limited number of drawcalls/frame

So no matter how beastly your PC build is, Dx9 WILL FAIL ALWAYS in delivering awesome fluid scenarios with a lot of action during WvW or World Boss events.

You could try opening another ticket, giving them your serial number and every account information you still have and kindly demand that they change the email, because as you already said, you paid for a product.

My girlfriend once forgot her password too (she forgot her email password too and had no way of getting it back) and she tried to contact the support and they were like “nope sorry”, but then i tried it again with her account and while giving all information (Serial number, character names, last date played, accountname etc.. ) asked them to please transfer the account to a new email adress. Well that time they did it, yet they DID NOT TRANSFER the account, but they COPIED (what the hell, but whatever) it.

TL;DR – Never tell support anything they don’t need to know, always be as precise as possible, always give as much information as possible, don’t create multiple tickets for the same issue (wait till the old one expires or close it)

Saves you and them time

Note to ANet: PLEASE get your own servers INSIDE EUROPE and DONT BLAME our ISPs for the routing. It is YOUR FAULT, that you dont have servers in Europe and thus customers here have horrible connection issues on a REGULAR BASIS!

Direct X12 for Guild Wars 2 in the future?

I’d rather see the game using the latest OpenGL so at least everybody including MAC users who also bought the game could finally get some good performances.

Don’t forget that the game is FreeToPlay, so a smaller audience means less money for ArenaNet at the end.

And btw, the better way to end the 10FPS in WvW zergs is to redesign WvW so it would be less about zerking. Yes, it is easier to say than to do, but if you think about it, once you’ll get rid of the GPU/CPU bottlenet, you’ll have the next bottleneck: networking. And neither DirectX nor OpenGL will save you with that.

opengl next has not been release. in fact, it is being shown on march 5

http://schedule.gdconf.com/session/glnext-the-future-of-high-performance-graphics-presented-by-valve

Neither is DirectX 12 :p

And by the way, they are quite equivalent anyway if you believe John Carmack’s words.

direct x 12 will probably be release when windows 10 is out. I believe microsoft been working on it longer than the khoronos group.

It doesn’t matter. Again, gw2 is intended to a larger audience than just the Windows 10 crowd.

it doesnt matter, because for example nvidia gpus back to gtx 500 or something will get a driver update and support dx 12 on a software level. its still wont be as strong as a gtx 970/980 because both will support dx 12 on a hardware level. but still, its a major increase in performance.

even wow has a 64 bit client and supports dx 11 so far.

and even if your computer is too old to support dx 12, they can make it so you could still run gw2 with dx 9.

Thats the thing i would propose to ANet..

DICE managed to implement the Mantle renderer afterwards too and its an option in the settings now

If somebody now says that if DX12 was available ANet would put in way too many details for DX9 (older pcs) to render: Watch WoodenPotatoes video on the Heart of Thorns event. He says that even though the game ran on workstation (higher tier) pcs the game didnt run always above 60fps. Considering GW2 doesnt use Crysis 3 grade textures this really is a bummer. If ANet would implement DX12 most likely EVERY zone that under DX9 dipped under 60fps would run always above 60fps…

and to be honest.. GW1 survived survived 7 years with DX9, but it simply won’t be the case with GW2.. (using DX9 in ~2019… urr.. really..? DX9c would be 15 years old by then…)

I used the search function and was kind of bluffed that it found no results, thus i’d like to mention this:

Guild Wars 2 is heavily drawcall dependant (Just go into the PvP lobby and test your FPS with character limit set to highest and then to lowest, i have an i7 4771 and a GTX780 and on highest settings i have maybe 15fps max and on lowest always about 60), which means that your CPU is holding back your GPU.

DirectX12 offers reportedly 600 000 drawcalls per frame, unlike DirectX9, which is currently being used, that can only render about 6 000 drawcalls per frame, without dropping FPS in the sub 20 area. The main, or even most important, difference between DirectX9 and DirectX12 is that DX12 will support true mulit-core rendering so all CPU cores will be used to render things, YET DX12 will most likely be only available on Windows 10, although one should keep in mind that all users of Windows 7 and Windows 8/.1 will get a free Windows 10 license, if they update within a year.

So yes, i know that ANet wants the game to be playable for a large audience, but considering that DX12 offers nearly 400% performance increase in CPU dependant situations in comparison to DX9/11 one should think about rewriting the renderer. All DX11 supporting GPUs from nVidia will, reportedly, be DX12 compatible and all AMD >6XXX Series GPUs, afaik, too.

TL;DR:

Pros DX12:
-!Ridiculous! performance increase and no more CPU Bottleneck (no more 10fps in WvW Zergs!)
-Future Proof

Cons DX12:
-Less compatibility than DX9, smaller audience (probably Windows 10 exclusive)
-Renderer(/Engine) rewrite

I am really sorry if someone else already mentioned all of this, but i used the search function and found no results!

Whats your opinion on this topic?

Ranger "Read the Wind" bugs autoattack

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Danek.9450

Danek.9450

As the title states.. if you go for the Trait “Read the Wind” (One of the new grandmaster traits) and you gain an additional 300 units range for all your longbow skills.. your attacks may hit, but the autoattack won’t work if you are more than 900 units away from the target, making the trait quite bothersome..

I did use the search function and didnt find anything related to this.

Would be nice if you fix this
Thanks in advance!

Teleport dead players out of the Breach

in Living World

Danek.9450

I am creating this thread because there is something making me really sick.

Basically it’s about the Breach bosses, especially the Indigo Teragriffs:
It’s fine if people don’t know the mechanic and “tend” to die when the Teragriffs meet, but i do not think that it is fair that these (like 20) people lie around dead, thus dealing no damage, but still scale up the event and write in chat “rezzzzz please you n00b”, effectively making the event impossible to successfully finish for the remaining, living and damage dealing, players.

I believe that it would be good to just teleport dead (not downed) players out of the breach to the surface, out of reach of the actual event, where they could still, potentially, be revived by a kind soul…

They would still get the reward as they probably managed to tag the boss, but they wouldn’t scale the event..

I would like to see what the rest of the community or maybe a developer thinks about this (major!) issue..

Motion sickness

If by “motion sickness” you just mean a bad feeling while playing the game:

Turn off depth blur and maybe even FXAA, both sometimes dramatically blur the game (Settings, graphics tab)
- switch on supersample instead

Playing with the ingame Camera position als makes me feel uncomfortable while playing the game, maybe she can find something shes comfortable with(Settings, general tab)?

You could try to turn off “Enable Camera Shake” too (Also under camera settings)
