It is incredibly frustrating that A.net continues to ignore this thread.
Given that they have given a response with a workaround that isn’t working reliably for the people who DO have time to re-do all 13 maps, and they have un-stickied this thread and are trying to let it fall off the radar, it seems that their response is to ignore it and wait for people to be fixating on the next round of inevitable living world bugs caused by them trying to push up their schedule too far.
I’m not unwilling to give them ‘some slack’ when they give good customer service responses to problems. Unfortunately, their response to this problem so far hasn’t been one, and as someone who waited anxiously for release, pre-purchased, bought gems, encouraged many friends and even new acquaintances I discovered were gamers to play the game, I’m taking this particular response (that really boils down to a lack of one) rather harshly.
Invasion Canceler achievement doesn’t always update properly, even when following the posted workaround from the bug thread (avoiding instance changing and making sure you have gotten credit for killing twisted champion).
A thought occurred to me while I was looking at one of the other bug threads. Is it possible that like the EU server issue, this is latency related? Are a lot of the people posting on this thread at places with high ping times? I’m playing from Japan, and my latency numbers can get bad sometimes.
That said, while finding the problem to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again is definitely a good thing, there DEFINITELY needs to be a retroactive fix for this, and a (rapid) dev. response confirming that there is going to be one.
Really, the response to this point has fallen far short of the customer service expectations of everyone involved on the customer end I think.
Sorry but this really isn’t an acceptable response.
Update the way the event functions so that completing the meta-event counts directly toward increasing the achievement, that’s how it should have advanced in the first place.
Have someone code a script that goes over the event logs for the duration of the event, checks for people getting the meta-event reward on each map, and updates their achievement retroactively. Both of these changes should be not only possible, but relatively easy, other than the extra processing load running the script will generate.
Failing that, at least reduce the total zones needed for completion to 10/13 or something so that those of us who didn’t track our zone completion under a microscope don’t lose out on the reward for our effort. I’m 12/13 after doing every zone, several of them multiple times. Most of them were done in groups, and I never disconnected.
I wrote down every zone I did along the way, but didn’t double-check the achievement window every step of the way, and so there is a list of 10 zones that might not have updated. I don’t have the time or the inclination to re-do this, and I really want the achievement points this represents given how close to my next armor skin I am.
The last dev post which more or less amounts to ‘oops, try this and it MIGHT work for you’ is totally unacceptable customer service. Try harder guys, you’re making it tougher and tougher to recommend this game to friends.
Definite +1. I have completed 13/13 maps (tracked on paper from the start) I am credited with 12/13 and I didn’t notice the discrepancy until I hit 11/13 and noticed my tracker only said 10, so there is a huge number of zones I would have to re-do that MIGHT update my achievement. In addition to tracking this better (and future achievements like it) there must be a way to write a script that checks for successful zone completion events (IE the ones that give us all the boxes when scarlett is killed or failed) and gives credit if they happened. I’m doing a bunch of job interviewing this week and probably won’t be online at a time I can re-do the map i’m missing even if the tracking is fixed, and i shouldn’t have to, i’ve already done what the achievement demanded.
Add some variance to the starting time of one-time events.

Between the halloween phases and the upcoming November events, it is looking like noon Pacific is the intended start time for every event, including one time only event chains etc.
This is really unfair to those of us who live in time zones where this falls during sleep or working hours. I understand that you can’t make it possible for everyone to attend everything, but it would seem more fair to add a variance of say +/- 6 hours to the starting time of events, such that it isn’t always the same group of people who can be on for every event easily.
Even if it’s something as simple as the cutscene for Halloween phase 3, it doesn’t seem fair that it will always be the same chunk of the player base who gets all the candy. (metaphorically speaking)
Surname blocked despite NPC using same surname.

My Norn warrior is named Sigdis Egildottir. for some reason Egilsdottir was blocked in both gw1 and gw2. I assume there is some combination of characters in Egilsdottir that is insulting in a European language. I was OK with it at first, until I encountered a Norn NPC with the surname Egilsdottir…
I selected my name based on the meanings from old norse (warrior woman, daughter of the sword) and would really like to have it spelled correctly if possible. >.<
I reported this via /bug some time ago. If this is an intentional change from former functionality, could we get a statement about it and maybe an explanation? I currently help my guildmates with their PS quests just to be nice, but it was rather nice being able to get something else for it, especially considering how much teleporting around it often requires.
On Sanctum of Rall server, inside the skritt caves adjacent to Ebonhawke citadel, there are something like a dozen bots. There are so many of them and they are warp hacking around so much that it’s all but impossible to report them all. Could someone from A-Net do a quick on-site glance? It’ll take all of 30 seconds to be certain they’re botting.

Just a small set of changes I wanted to suggest to get rid of the annoying practice of corpse scouting, which is to say leaving one person dead at key locations to track enemy movements and report on them.
When a player goes into defeated state in wvw, have their screen go black, leaving only the minimap, and only allow their minimap to display nearby allied players. That will permit them to know if there is a chance of a revival coming sometime soon or not, without allowing them to infinitely camp at key areas to watch for enemy movements.

Random restarts, almost always when opening map

Unfortunately when this happens it doesn’t crash, my system restarts as if someone had punched the reset button on the front. The crash.dmp file is last updated almost a week ago, which is the last time I got a dump to desktop type crash. I would assume this is a hardware issue, but it only occurs in GW2, and it only happens when I try to enter a personal story mission or open my map. Like I hit the M key and the screen goes black for a fraction of a second, then I hear my power supply spin down and back up.

I’ve noticed a consistent problem with the computer restarting when I am opening the map screen. It doesn’t happen every time, or even every day, but when it DOES happen, I’m usually either zoning into a personal storyline instance, or opening my map, most frequently when opening the map.
I’m running an Nvidia GTX560 TI on Windows 7 64 bit.
