People can drop the gifts by pressing ~ right before they go down; perhaps they’re trolling and do not want people to get the achievement easily?
I had some problems initially, but a relog seemed to fix it for me. And yes, a scout is the best option at getting quick stops. A snipe should take 3 quarters of the person’s health off! Just try more, and I’m sure you’ll get it. All the best!
Check your Gem Store. You are able to purchase the minipets that are revealed for 350gems. No idea if they’ll be gone the next day, but I love this option.
At least now I can collect all 5 of them.
Minipets are merely a cosmetic addition to your game; you can do without it, period.
I know that I’d give ANYTHING to get the Quaggan. Hence I bought the chests.
I understand that the drop rates are low, and this is purely a profit-centric move for ANet. I kinda like the gamble though. Perhaps the players wouldn’t feel so bad, if the boxes were to drop something more substantial (e.g. 10-20 ugly sweaters).
I understand your feeling. Personally, I bought 40 boxes.
First 30 boxes were crap, got 3 Infinirarium off it.
Last 10 boxes were just…
Pure bliss.
Golem, Snowman and Foostivoo the Merry.
I got lucky, but still I find the price I paid for the 4 pets to be significantly more expensive than that of the Halloween pets.
Thanks all for your responses! As mentioned umpteen times, I’ve ran the puzzle with traited elementalists and I believe I can tell an abnormal speed when I see one. I would think 7 hours would be enough for me to see players with all builds and latency eh?
(And nope, I don’t stay in the same instance. Mate loves switching room to avoid those charrs and norns that need to lose weight).
And it appears that Lucas is the one here who truly comprehended my post! I mean, so what if we make a wrong judgement whether someone is hacking? At least let us have an option to report it, and the onus will be then on ANet to investigate.
I wonder how many of you here have seen your orb fly across the sky in WvW, and not being able to do anything about it. Be it taking it back, or reporting it…
Yeah, I get your points.
Not that I care for being first place, I was just dumb founded by how someone can so easily cheese the puzzle with such speed.
Anyhow, onto the issue of whether the person is hacking; If a group of us were to suspect that someone is hacking, then we should have the option to report the player and let ANet investigate.
As I said, 7hours of runs. I have seen many other toons with speed traits complete the puzzle with me, but never leading by such a huge margin.
I wonder why it takes ANet so long to even implement a “Hacking” option when reporting a player. I’ve been running the Clock Tower for 7 hours now with my mate, and am able to consistently reach the top within 1 or 2 tries. I dare say I’m quite experienced with the puzzle, and have rarely seen any one overtake me on the way to the top. (Usually side by side or within a few steps infront/behind).
Just 10 minutes ago, I came across this lv 34 Elementalist (shall not reveal his name). He was able to speed past everyone, reaching the cog first by a huge margin (where everyone has to wait for the wall to break). That might have been possible with swiftness, but even if the guy specc’ed into the speed trait for Elementalist, he wouldn’t have gotten so far ahead. Even though we started side by side at that cog, he would simply run ahead and disappear out of my sights within 5 seconds.
Other alts running the puzzle along with me commented that he’s way too fast to be normal. When confronted, he would insist that he’s using his traits. Only upon having someone mention that he was FRAPSing the run all the time, did that Elementalist go silent and log off. (Admission of Guilt?)
Is it really that hard for ANet to implement a “Hacking” report button? And what can other community members do about it, given that we are not allowed to call those perpetrators out on the forum?
[Edit] Issue wasn’t really whether he was hacking or not, but what we, as members of the community, can do if we were to suspect someone was hacking?

I can tell you that I opened 130 chests (Full Explorer’s Gear, Magic Find Boost, MF Food) and I got nothing out of it.
Knew I shouldn’t have spent the gems. kitten Black cat crossed my path today. :/
So moral of the story? Even if you spent the $$$ to get gems, you won’t necessarily get the skins you’re looking for. Save up the gold, and buy it off the TP.
I know right, Sahfur.
I might as well have spent the money on getting gold, to use in the Trading Post to get the skins. (As one of the Reds mentioned).
I really am speechless at the moment haha. Hope you guys have better luck than I do! And oh, opened the chests with MF items + Boost kitten chests drop them when I don’t need it) + Food. Maximised my chances, but nah.
fyi, I opened 130 chests and I got nothing. Perhaps you should edit the values used in your calculations.
Spending that kind of money, I would feel entitled to a skin of sorts. But nope. I am truly disappointed in this RNG system.
And I really agree with ya. GW2 is a great game, and events like this shouldn’t be dictated by a gambling/RNG system.
GW2 really does make players work for their items. Point in case would be the shield/bow/staff you could buy for a limited time with corn. Have you seen the amount of money it would take to craft the permanent items…?
While it may give a gamer a sense of accomplishment achieving a rare event weapon like this, most gamers will hardly get the chance to experience it. Yes, skins are optional. But it does seem that they’re only exclusive to the really lucky ones and the hardcore ones.
