Hello,
I’ve just noticed I apparently received an email from ArenaNet, signed by GM Cuache, which is as follows :
Greetings

The need to click on a link seems suspicious enough, and Cuache (or any other GM name) doesn’t ring any bell. I haven’t bought anything from the store and didn’t receive any unauthorized authentication emails in the last couple of months. Of course, I don’t want my account suspended/banned. Considering I’m kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, I figured the safest thing to do was ask around on here.
Can someone please enlighten me?
Edited out the links as you asked. For posterity, both links started with https, which usually means it’s encrypted, or secure. Now I/you know it’s not always the case. Thanks!

I’m talking about skills, such as Feast of Corruption (a necro scepter skill), that scale for each condition on the enemy. Say I use skills on the enemy so that it ends up with 1 stack of blind, 6 stacks of bleeding, 1 stack of cripple and 1 stack of weakness. Then I use Feast of Corruption, described above. Would the damage scale as though the target was afflicted with 4 conditions (blind, bleed, cripple, weakness), or 9 conditions? (assuming each stack counts as a separate condition)?
Right now I can’t decide if I want my 2ndary set to be a staff or a combination of scepter and dagger, and knowing this would help me greatly in my decision. Thanks!
I managed to connect, but have been experiencing severe lag spikes every few minutes starting today as well. The kind of spike that makes swapping gear unresponsive and makes you suddenly lose half your hp in combat because the monster was still attacking you on the server’s end. I’m on Yak’s bend.
Oh I’ve also been disconnected twice as a result of those spikes.
Guild Wars 2 lowered my headset' max volume?

Greetings,
I use a Republic of Gamers headset, the ORION I believe. I bought this headset less than a year ago and they worked perfectly until a few minutes ago, when I swapped my custom music playlists back in the game’s folders. Upon starting the game, my custom main menu songs played normally, and so I picked a character and loaded straits of devastation. The music stopped during the loading as it usually does, however that is the last bit of sound I have heard from the headset since. I played on the character for maybe 5 minutes without any music or sound before getting annoyed and investigating.
I went back to the character select screen and alt-tabbed out, went on youtube on a random video to see if it was only guild wars 2. It was not. I played a random music track in windows media player. Nothing. Yet, when I unplugged the headset, I could hear the track and one of my main menu tracks on gw2 coming out of my laptop’s muffled speakers..
I’ve restarted my computer and there is still no sound to be heard. I’ve also tried muting and unmuting the audio output, with no success.
I realize that my headset is probably not really broken and that the fix to this issue is probably extremely simple, however I don’t see what I am missing and the computer restart not working worries me.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have been playing the game with this particular headset for about a week, and today was the first time I would play with the custom tracks. However, I have the game since the beta, and used other headphones then. Both the official soundtrack and my playlists worked fine then. Lastly, I might as well mention that the first (old) headset used a USB plug, while mine uses 2 audio jacks, eg. 1 for the inut and 1 for the output.
2nd Edit: Okay, this is really embarassing….The headset is perfectly fine, the output volume just dropped significantly while staying at the same max volume percentage. To clarify:
I set my output volume at 11%, as the volume would quickly get too loud if set higher than that. Somehow, the above experience significantly reduced the maximum decibels I can set, as I am now at 77% and it is still a bit low. Which is obviouslymuch less of an issue. On the other hand, fixing this would make sure that I don’t eventually shatter my eardrums if the parameters return to normal.

The staff’s second skill (Ball of Light?)’s 2nd stage (basically after the ball is launched and before it goes out of range/you explode it) will not go on cooldown under certain circumstances. I am not certain about this, but I think one such circumstance is when a target blocks the ball.
This makes the ball disappear as if the enemy’s shield was a part of the terrain, however the skill, not going on cooldown by itself, forces you to “explode” the ball and trigger the longer cooldown. Making the ball explode that way doesn’t do any damage or heal, since it doesn’t exist anymore.
