Trolls out in force as usual.
MoP release must be killing server pops right now.
The problem is not everyone on those servers is playing WvW. The additional servers might be need to support the PvE population.
I doubt the PvE population on those servers is that full. Besides it would be wiser to be more full than to have some zones a ghost town.
Even on HoD we have some zones that never go to overflow and our population is huge.
LoL @ Soulstitch. Never seen you post such nonsense before.
SI earns a lot of their points overnight when HoD’s presence is at its smallest. Especially between when NA goes to bed and oceanic’s log on.
The only time that I’ve ever heard any type of “working together” would possibly be keeping ET out of the one week format by letting SI get 2nd on Thursday-Friday. Even then that is a stretch because I think most of HoD would rather play ET for the challenge. Though honestly, ET controlled its own fate but instead took a “rest” so essentially ET put its fate in other server’s hands.
Regardless, this whole thread should be put on the WoW forum’s because it has gone past fullkitten
Super simple solution, if you don’t like playing with alliances, which are normally high tier WvW servers, go play on a low tier WvW server.
The game isn’t formed around alliances, nor should the game be formed around people who follow the alliances but aren’t hardcore. The game is very casual, but is also what you make of it. Alliances made it “hardcore” for the first 2 or so tiers but after that it is way more casual.
TL;DR – Transfer off alliance servers and go to lower ranked and more casual servers.
In case you havent noticed, even really low ranked WvW servers have been matched against servers who have far outmatched them. Whether its alliances or sheer numbers or advantage in timezone for players, theres always an advantage for one side from what I’ve observed. With that advantage, orbs are taken and the advantage only grows larger. WvW is meant for the casual and the hardcore hence the reason that low lvl players have their levels and stats boosted to allow them some sort of viability. I believe the removal or nerfing of orbs will help provide a more even playing field although organization will still better a server that has none.
Incase you haven’t noticed, tons of people keep transferring to only a few different servers.. mainly the winning ones. If they block transfers to certain servers and try to funnel more people onto lower pop than it shouldn’t be a big problem.
Unfortunately, there is always going to be a mismatch in some way. Whether its super long queues vs no queues, coordination vs no coordination, fielding players 24/7 vs not, alliances vs none.
Most of the lower tier servers are lower tier because they don’t field a huge population for WvW and they don’t have a strong overnight presence, so it is perfect for casual players.
Changing the orbs might level the playing field somewhat, but it won’t make a huge difference.

maddbomber if you did more pvp you’d see lots of organization. TA is very organized and tries to organize the HoD militia. Though TA does most of its organization inhouse or over teamspeak.
While I’m sure it lacks sometimes, there would be very little chance of HoD being undefeated if the server wasn’t coordinated.
All I have to say that would POSSIBLY, not guaranteed, but POSSIBLY fix this is to disable free transfers to HoD. HoD is so full it is ridiculous. Doing this may cause people to transfers to ET, JQ, SI, BG, etc who need more coverage in certain areas.
Right now it seems the majority of transfers go to HoD because of all the winning, no one wants to be 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc…
Changes to WvW which would greatly benefit the overall feel of the pvp.

Zerging isn’t efficient.. if you see a server zerging go take their other keeps/camps/etc.
Our guild rolls with a decent amount of people if we can beat the queue boss that day, but even if we have 30+ we always use some for scouts, defending certain points, for harassing camps, supply runs, etc.
So just because you see 30-40 taking a keep and think its a zerg doesn’t mean they are not extremely coordinated.
Zerg does not = amount of people. Zerg = amount of people + uncoordinated.
It would be nice if they implemented an “override” system, basically letting established guilds claim bigger objectives so it could be defended better. In a sense, if a guild with no upgrades claims SM and there is a guild with every upgrade at SM too, it is almost like griefing your server. Most likely it is not intentional and the smaller guild just wants recognition but there really should be a system in place for the competitive side of WvW.
Helheimr, I feel you’re in the minority here. Most people don’t want to lose repeatedly and by a large margin. Even with no queue time it isn’t fun.
While the transfers are essentially killing the WvW game for the winning servers because the queue times are so long. The PVE on the lower pop servers will take a hit as there aren’t as many people to do events and dungeons with.
I really think it is too late, Anet acted way to slowly and for the top 3-5 NA servers WvW queues are terrible either 24/7 or during primetime and then some of the best servers completely lose overnight.
It really would have been wise for Anet to be more community oriented, I know they obviously had a lot of work and things to fix, but WvW is terrible as it stands. The gameplay for WvW is AMAZING, but not controlling what is happening to the servers will kill it.
I guess in the end, it has no monthly subscription and the hardcore WvWers will either move on or just struggle with the queues. It is a shame it could have been easily fixed by just closing transfers to the overly High/Full servers, especially with a queue 24/7.
