Recruited into a Guild in a "Full" World

Why is this allowed to happen? Has anyone else dealt with this? Joining a guild was going to help me stay interested in this game, now I can’t even stand to play because I can’t switch worlds.

Guardian Looking for PVP oriented guild

I have been playing since launch but haven’t really started looking for a guild until now. I have a 60’s Ranger and I mostly play Guardian on Spvp. I am currently rank 11 and would like to get into more serious TPVP. I would like to join a guild who grabs from its roster to make tpvp teams and is friendly to new guild mates. I like to WvW off and on but I’ve never been able to actually coordinate or anything because I would just join solo.

Anyway, I am a friendly player and have a good sense of humor, so if you’re into that I’m your guy.

Lol was playing. I think we agree that winning a match should get you more glory than it currently does.

Auto balance is not a good enough of a reason, it already screws you over anyway. We need more glory for won matches. We need incentive to win the match over just glory farming.

EDIT: Glory farming, meaning ignoring the nodes and the map to just play team deathmatch.

I don’t think winning gives enough incentive. The match I just played, I earned 140 of my own points, and got an extra 33 by winning the match for a total of 173. Really? It should at least have been 280 total. If you lose, you just keep the points you earned by yourself.

Yea I was actually already doing the chain and smite combo, but was using bane for added length (or if they did some sort of anti-CC).

I was confused for a second when you were talking about using Zealot’s defense with shield of wrath, I currently don’t have sword / focus combo, but I will try that out as well.

I was able to squeeze in a match before heading out. What I like is the increased survive-ability, but I definitely noticed a decrease in my CCing. Bane is really good for knockdowns, I was able to knock them down, then use the focus 2 ability to aoe the ground beneath them. Maybe I’ll switch a weapon sigil/rune for some kind of frozen ability or something. But I was still able to come in first on my first game

Thanks for the advice! I’ll continue to build on this.

Switch out the shield trait in valor, replace with Monk’s Focus. Replace Contemplation of Purity with Smite’s Condition. Not a fan of Bane Signet, Stand Your Ground is much better in PvP (finishing off/reviving without being interrupted). Switch the 10 points in Honor into Zeal for Fiery Wrath (10% more damage). Replace the useless Renewed Focus with Tome of Courage. Use Runes of Divinity + Knight’s Amulet and now you have a decent mix of damage and survivability. Use sword/focus and scepter/shield. That is the typical one handed 10/30/30/0/0 offensive meditation build for sPvP, one of the best at 1v1 and fun for hot joined games.

I run the build above during stress test. You’re pretty much using meditations for heals (Smite Condition and Judge’s Intervention heal for 2k each use on a 16 and 32 secs cd). Here’s a video showing the survivability and damage I can pull off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAQAClTLWXY

I don’t have time to watch the video but i’ll give this go later tonight! The only thing I didn’t really follow is the switching of the weapons, but I’ve decided to go with a sword instead of a mace for now to increase mobility even more.

EDIT: Oh and I’m really impressed to see my crit chance at 55%. I don’t think the Right hande Strength trait is woven into that number either, so it may be at 70%?

I would like some feedback on my Guardian build for SPVP. I haven’t played much of other game’s PVP, or GW1, and I don’t usually go looking for pre-made builds. I built this out of my own play testing and general feel for the game. I’m almost rank 10.

First, here is a screenshot of my Traits window, and then my Hero’s window.

They are used to test new ideas in the mists, solo. They have a 1 to 1 damage because they are meant for theory crafting. The damage you do doesn’t RNG all over the place, so you know what works before you enter the matches.

2. Isn’t the reward from this just capturing the point, in the end? Or are you saying you want points for fighting on a neutral base?

I meant preventing them from neutralizing by standing on it for an X period of time when you already capped it; literally, defend the shrine from neutralizing.

I have had times where I would prevent 2-3-4 people from neutralizing a shrine for at least 1-2-3 minutes, waiting for my allies to come and wipe them.
In short; they would have capped without me preventing them to cap.

That is preventing them to gain one point per two seconds for 1-2-3 minutes; not to mention it made us gain the same amount since we still had it capped cause of that. That is 60 points per minute, not 30. Cause’ they miss out on 30, and we gain 30.

Reward: None.

I get what you’re saying, but I think the game may have a hard time determining that you are helping the team, even though you aren’t killing or capping anything. Unless ANET decides that they should award you points for just doing damage in general, I don’t think you’l ever get points for this. The reward for doing that for now is they don’t cap as fast (As in you are preventing them from getting points, which in turn is still helpful to your team, so there is a reward).

I sincerely agree that they should not give points for standing on an already capped point, but you could sketch some scenarios that might be worth a reward.

  1. If you defend a cap point when it is being assaulted, and you manage to keep it.
  2. If you defend a cap point when it is being assaulted, and you manage to keep it neutral for an X period of time.

1. I think you get extra points for defending a point, when you kill a player. If not, I’m mistaken.
EDIT I think you meant when it’s neutral, and not already taken by your team. In this case, I think the reward is capturing the base, if your team beats out the other team. And if you don’t cap the base, you still get points for killing some of the enemies.

I agree and disagree. When I browse these forums off and on, I see people complain that they can’t play “tactically”. This usually refers to the fact that you don’t get points for standing guard on a point. I don’t think anyone should get points for just standing there. This is PVP, and you should be moving around and PVPing.

*You get points for neutralizing a point.

You get points for capturing that point.

*You get points for moving on and participating in the PVP match.

*You get points for kills (You don’t even need a killing blow).

*You get points for killing big creatures.

Every game i play, people are constantly looking for the enemy base with the least amount of enemies waiting on it, for an easy cap. Then, we move on to the next point. The only times I see other players “playing stupid” is when they aren’t fighting on top of the capture points when near one.

And please, I don’t want to see them take away points for killing other players. This is PVP. Player VS Player. At least if I am good, I can gain glory for killing players if we lose the entire match.

I agree that match winning (and losing) should gain you more glory. And I agree that having more players on top of a point should cap it faster. But I disagree with you being able to get points for standing on top of an already capped point, and I disagree with them taking away self points and kill points.

What do you think about adding PVE EXP into SPVP somehow?

in Suggestions

I like to play all of the three different game-play modes. I like to PVE and progress my trade skills, and sometimes I like to jump into WvWvW. I really like the structured PVP as well. I actually like the SPVP the most, and I do like how I can just jump in and play whenever I want without any progression -needed- to compete. Sometimes though, I feel like it’s -sort of- a waste of time, because it doesn’t add to my PVE levels, like WvW can.

My suggestion, the ability to spend Glory on PVE Experience. You can either choose to buy materials for pvp forging, or you can choose to progress your PVE character this way.

Another suggestion maybe is you can buy a token (or button, whatever it’s called) that gives you extra experience per -activity- and not just pure PVE kills. Like +%50 to all experience gains while in PVE. Or, you could just flat out buy a token that gives you experience, (sort of like trading glory for pure experience in PVE).

What do you think? I personally get a little burnt out on PVE grinding, and the zerg fests in WvW, and I just want to SPVP. I understand that SPVP is meant to be completely separate, but I think this’d be an awesome addition.
