See, if I go for 30 in shadow arts, I have to choose between going with acrobatics or going with deadly arts. That, or lose sleight of hand.

I know the heal on stealth is great, but I haven’t found an instance where it would make a difference, as when I die it’s faster than I can stealth and when I’m up I can maneuver/dodge my way around most damage (Mostly from bountiful theft and keeping at range).

I actually don’t use blind-on-stealth, atm. Think I should throw my floating 10 into that to give me some blinds?

Couldn’t get the hang of scorp wire, but extra teleports are always solid. I’ll switch that over.

I love sleight of hand. To death. It’s so dang good, I can’t believe I didn’t run it before. I don’t think I could ever switch back, I use steal way too much nowadays.

Travlane, since I have caught your attention, what’s your opinion on the different poisons? Honestly, I chose Skale so there’s 2 conditions to cleanse as opposed to 1. Also, any suggestions on the floating 10 points I got?

Hey folks,

Here’s what I have so far:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYMQNAqYVlUmKPXaS+E9JFBXBn694ri1s6HoZ/hrC-jkyA4MBRKAItAi8AkCLiGb5DoayoxqsxUvER1m7ioVLEwi1A-w

The trickery major traits change a lot. I swap between Ricochet and Bountiful theft for the master, and Uncatchable/Long Reach/Thrill of the Crime, depending on what seems to be better for the current situaion.

Now, I have noticed that as I improved as a player, I don’t need to dodge as much due to better positioning. Thus, I could move 5 points off of Acrobatics. Also, the ICD on Lotus Poison is terrible, so moving 5 points from there works too.

That leaves me with 10 points floating, but I can’t see any major traits that really appeal. I suppose I could go into CS for pistol mastery, but it really seems like a waste stat-wise. The extra 5 into acro would get me extra ini regen, but I don’t have a problem with it right now. And I can’t see anything too great throwing the 5 into DA, either.

Also, I’m having a tough time with accessories. I’m using soldier’s for now, but if they add carrion I’ll swap over to that.

Thoughts? Opinions? P/D was the first build I had, but I listened to too much forum-spewing and swapped to D/P. Just switched back, and I forgot how much fun it was.

It is too hard to earn gold - A serious post

A few people have mentioned guilds, and OP mentioned having friends and friends of friends. OP, have you considered making your own guild? One of the main reasons CoF takes a long time is due to people not knowing what’s going on, but once everyone has an idea of what is going on CoF is really fast. It’s also a social thing. Want to catch up with friends? As it has been stated, CoF is pretty mindless. Use it like a chatroom. A few friends want to try a different dungeon? Now they have a place to ask and a group of people that are more interested in having fun than leet grindz.

I do have to agree with the OP though. Gold can be pretty scarce. Until I joined a guild and started regularly doing dungeons/world bosses, I had a hard time getting over 15 gold to gear up. Now, I regularly make 10-15g in the hour or two that I play. I don’t do WvW as much as I used to, and I’m definitely more focused on world exploration, but at the end of the day it’s the dungeons that are doing the most.

I’d love to see a charge shot on longbow, instead of rapidfire. Make shortbow the pew pew, give longbow the “thunk” factor

There’s a lot of other crap, but I prefer to focus on what the devs already know (I think Jon said in an SotG that Longbow still needs love).

Autoattack DPS, a comparison

Something to note from my own (basic) tests: Longbow DPS actually goes down when using rapid fire at 1000+ range. It’s odd, but true. So if you do decide to go for full rotations, leave rapidfire out of the rotation at max range for a better idea.

Getting Corrupted Lodestones

So, I really, REALLY like the look of the Corrupted Greatbow. My issue comes in with the fact I need 30 corrupted lodestones. I know about the spit of land near Ice Flow WP, but is there any better way to get the components without mindlessly wandering up and down in a line? Does HotW give them out? Does anyone even do HotW anymore?

Any help would be really nice. I hit 80 recently and it’s a bit shocking to see that most skins are a matter of grind and not skill…

Anyone else hate Orr?

I actually enjoy the style of Orr. For instance, I remember running from a mob of zombies up onto a pillar, only to realize it was actually a large, dead, spiky starfish. Pretty odd, had me sitting there for a bit.

Seeing how the underwater stuff merged into the ruins has me simultaneously imagining how Orr used to look, and also how cool all the deep sea things are.

The sheer number of immobilizes, however… That and temples. While some are possible to do in a group of 5 or so, some (cough Balthazar cough) just take such an absurd number of people there’s no chance of completion. I actually have no real issue with the zombies, though it may be because I don’t tend to play a lot of zombie games and am thus not burned out on them.

Is there a secret to completing Temples?

in Players Helping Players

I’d really like to start getting some kind of gear, and I was directed towards the karma merch. Maybe I’m just trying to get the wrong armor, but it seems like the temple events are nigh-impossible.

For example, we had about 6 people doing Balthazar, and all was going smoothly, until suddenly 7/8 of the entire escort group fell dead without warning. We failed shortly after. I have no idea what caused them to die, but it seems like 6 people should be a solid amount to do a group event.

Do we need to drum up a 25 man zerg? Or is there a better place to get some basic armor that ISN’T impossible?

Help making a Longbow Support build WvW/PvE

in Ranger

I fully understand that my chances as a ranger of getting into a dungeon are kinda crappy at best, but it’s what I’m hoping to do.

http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-F;4sEFv-e2REV-0;9k3Z;1TO49-26919;23;3L;08Z;1ud6Rk8dZBBGz0-N0L0;0VOV_WYXjYiZv_6o0570kW8aNX8a;9;9;9;9;9;5Ek3F

My goal with the build is to do some more support kind of stuff, while still maintaining at least a decent amount of damage. I confess I don’t have much of an idea when it comes to food/weapons, it’s my first stab at a build.

A few questions:

-What’s the range on Spotter? It’d make me rather annoyed to not help out group members if it’s some BS 350 AoE.

-Neither of the marksman grandmaster traits really made me go “wow”, so at the moment I’m using Eagle Eye. Would it be a better idea to go with Piercing arrows?

-Spirits. I’ve seen how dang squishy they are, and I’m wondering if taking Spiritual Knowledge offsets this enough. If not, I might go with the 5% Vigor to Power, or some other thing.

Am I getting close at all? Is it too glassy to survive? Too support-y to damage? Any suggestions you can give would be awesome.

So, in general, focus on GS with LB as an on-the-side?

I’ll have to try that.

Hello,

Just started up a ranger, and I’m actually kinda disappointed by the longbow. It seems to only do marginally more straight damage than a shortbow, with a massive speed decrease.

I love the idea of having the damage distance based, and I really like a longer range sniper-type deal, but I feel like I kitten myself every time I use a longbow. Does it get better? Is there something I’m missing?

So, I’ve seen a few of the Wild Bill videos, and they looked sick. I’m only level 27, but so far it’s been my favorite setup to play with. I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff on the forums about how terribad pistols are, but they all seem to reference buffs and nerfs I can’t find in patch notes. What’s up with pistols?

Also, if anyone knows of good builds, I’d really like to see a few. I’ve heard it’s mostly condition damage? But critical strikes has a few things that are pistol specific, so I’m not sure if there’s supposed to be some amount of direct damage.

Any info would be awesome. I love the thief profession, and regardless of how much they buff/nerf the class, I’ll likely play it as my main anyway.
