The real emphasis is a lot of us will not pay $50 for the core game, and the expansion, when we already own the core game. So it all comes down to what Anet is going to do.

I personally refuse to drop $50 on HoT for a few simple reasons.

First, There isn’t enough information on the new content coming WITH HoT.

Second, $50 and oh, you get the original game too when you already have it and don’t need it?

Make a different pre-order category for those who already have the core game, and people will drop their money faster than you can blink, but it’s a slap in the face to charge $50 for the X-pac AND a game we already own.

The true $50 rant should be about the fact it INCLUDES the original game, which…. Wait, doesn’t everyone here own the Original game?

They need to half the price for those who already own GW2 so all we have to pay for is HoT.

Possibly a new profession?

Okay, first i hope this is the right area to post this…

My suggestion, seeing as we have instruments available in the Gem shop, is to make a new profession titled “Musician”.

Now i know everyone may not be too keen on this idea, including A-net. But, in this post i’ll explain, in detail, the ways this could benefit everyone.

First, the idea of the Musician profession came to me when sitting outside Catacomb’s listening to someone play a harp. Then someone with a horn came up, and then a guitar, and the idea just came to be.

What if we had it where the gem shop instruments were the elite of the elite instruments? That would still bring in revenue for instruments, but also have the ability to purchase/craft instruments. Have people create scores of sheet music that can be freely traded, but they give very minor experience, while actually playing music is what gives the majority. The key point in this profession is to bring a relaxing, or energizing, point to the game. Instead of the usual bump and grind of leveling or grinding gold, or the constant WvW, have the profession to let you sit back and relax a bit.

That may be the objective, and this is specifically aimed at A-net. This could bring about an entirely different competition. Having people create completely original scores of music, or groups banding together to create one hell of an ensemble, could open up ideas for tournaments, or possibly live shows where people could pay gold to listen to the musician. Tournaments could be held for limited instruments that no one else has, and you could also do a WvW musician style tournament. Hold an eight man tournament on three different worlds, then pit the three winners against each other in a sudden death concert.

We could also implement a way where the musician and their listeners could receive some sort of buff from the music.

Pros-
-A new profession
-Musical entertainment
-Player creations
-More hype on Gem Shop instruments
-New competitions
-Enjoyment

Cons
-Varies on popularity
-High possibility of people copying bands
-Too many songs in one area means a lot of noise
-Slow profession skill gains

This suggestion is for a profession that people would have to whole heartedly enjoy. You don’t really see this kind of creative freedom anymore, and its been years since i last saw this kind of option in an MMO.

Any suggestions, criticism, etc?
