Was just about to post that!
I am really excited for Stone Heart. I think it will help a lot with all the backstab thieves.
Theif goes stealth? Just pop earth and you wont be 2 shotted!
I just gave this a shot! Why go for a bunker/balanced build with no damage that dies in 5 seconds? With this I can wipe a whole capture point but I die in 2 seconds. I’ll take that any day. It is actually a ton of fun.
I know I am superglass so I’m not even mad when I die, compared to dying with a bunker build.
Use the attachments to verify my numbers.
Excellent sheet, thanks!
Thieves are a different story but if you know how they work then it’s different. OP states he has a thief so I am willing to bet thief probably gives him no problems at all. Now Reverse those roles imagine you walk up to a thief fighting 3 other people and you join in. You think the thief is going to kill all 4 people with you included?
Yes I do understand how to counter thiefs but I guess I am running a bit to squishy right now because I constantly have to stay defensive. I loose all pressure when I have to heal up because I was too busy doing damage and get hit by backstabs.
I’m gonna toughen up a bit and practice
Build is 0/10/0/20/30
Why do you only have 60 trait points allocated?
Running 0/10/10/20/30, was not in my right mind when posting.
I started out playing with PVT gear and a 0/20/0/20/30 build but I was so frustrated beacuse, you know, I could kill very few. Partly because you need to nail the combos to get any decent damage (which I didn’t) so after 10 minutes of fighting its time to just run the other way.
Bursty S/D build was a lot of fun for a while but against some builds and classes it barely scratched them. Very fun against other glassy players thou
One release per month should be maximum. I felt and still feel very overwhelmed by the amount of content and rate of implementation.

I have been doing som WvW and sPVP recently but I am about to loose it. I SUCK. At elementalist atleast. I can dominate small groups of 2-4 people with my thief but I don’t want to take the easy way out. I love the elementalist because the diversity and many skills.
Right now I am running D/D (0/10/0/20/30) with very glassy gear but I am tired of dying to cloak and dagger now..
What stats should I invest my 100+ laurels in? Celestial?

Ok so I recently started thinking about the engineer. The engineer has access to lots of different mechanics and playstyles.
1. Stomping
You can blind stomp very frequently and also stealth and stability stomp.
2. Escaping
Some very good escape moves with rocket boots and rifle jump thingy as well as super speed and stealth.
3. AOE damage
Spammable range AOE with grenades and spammable close range AOE. This is on pair with elementalist that basically can spam AOE unlike necros that have higher cooldowns and fewer skills at their disposal.
4. Burst damage
Not really sure here as I’ve only seen the confusion builds and they are strong when facing bad opponents.
5. Healing
Impressive healing with water fields and access to some blast finishers for additional healing.
staff eles can do insane dps now, guang found a build, but it only works in organized groups, so bifrost is a viable legendary if you want to go dps, the staff build does around 14k dps per second in organized groups, that’s higher than warriors.
Nice to hear. I do like the fact that the staff is always on show as an elementalist. My mesmer would only show it 50% of the time due to weapon swapping.
So I am thinking about going human for the good overall looks and size. Using my birthday gift I can bring to level 20 instantly and then do some crafting and finish up with gathering the skill points in each zone.
I have a level 80 asura elementalist with full world completion but I have grown bored of the looks of him. So small that it doesn’t matter which cool weapons/armor I get because they can hardly be seen. I just recently lucked out and gotThe Legend so now I am trying to settle for a main character. Working towards Bifrost on my asura feels like a waste.
I keep coming back to elementalist because I want diversity in my main character. I’m not going to chose a main because I got the staff precursor so all classes are up for picks I guess. Any tips on how to settle for a main?
Also, quick question: is lightning hammer still the go-to build for leveling? Stack power?
I’m currently leveling an alt and I have forgotten how terribly weak the NPC’s are. I just finished an escort and once we arrived at the destination they were asked how the journey went. They reply:
“Just some wildlife, nothing that we couldn’t handle”
They forgot the fact that they died 6 times and I brought them back…
Also, why is there no downed state for NPC’s? So much for continuity across the game.
It looks like you are asking for a WvW perspective of the classes. So I’ll give you my ideas on the matter at hand:
1. Stomping: Thief. You can safely stomp all classes with the exception of Elementalists and Mesmers, but no class can stomp them during your first attempt, since their #2 downed skill will prevent any stomp.
Warriors/Guardians are good too due to easy access to Stability but will have a hard time stomping a Thief.
But, if we factor in stomping in an outnumbered fight, the safest class is Elementalist: their MistForm finisher cannot be countered, while Thieves can be interrupted by AoE CCs from other enemies.2. Escaping: Thief, followed by Warrior. Stealth is the best escape in the game. Warrior has a lot of gap closers but can be outrun by other warriors who are not in combat.
3. AOE damage: in close quarter, small group combat: Engineer, followed by Necro and D/D ele. In open field combat Staff Ele, followed by Necro and Engineer.
4. Burst damage: Thief, then S/D Ele and Warrior. Shatter Mesmer has good burst too, but has a lot of weaknesses.
5. Healing burst/sustained: Warrior, both burst and sustained. Followed by Guardian and D/D Ele.
6. 1v1: I think that the SAFEST class with the less counters to 1v1 with is Warrior. Thief is safe too, but has many counters who will force you to get away.
7. 1vX: Engineer is pretty good in 1vX if you force your opponent to fight in close quarters. Then I’d say Condi Warrior and then Thief.
8. Solo world/vets/champs: the best class at soloing camps is the Guardian or the Engineer. Thief is good too, but lacks the AoE damage to kill the opponents quickly.
Ranger is easy, but could take some time, same for Elementalist and Mesmer. Never tried Necro though.
For Champs, I’d say the Thief is the only class which is capable to kill Tower Champs reliably.
Since you have been arguing for warrior I decided to try one out in the mists. I just went with Sword/Shield+GS combo and built for lots of toughness and vitality. I was chocked at the damage! It feels like I’m doing almost as good damage as my Berserk D/D ele but with 9k hp and lots of toughness more. And this combo of weaponset can outrun anyone, fun!
As for me:
-Stomping
Thief (blind on stealth)
-Escaping
Thief
-AOE damage
I’m guessing necro or engi
-Burst damage
I know ele can do a whole lot
-Healing
Ele/banner warrior/guardian
-1v1
Mesmer
-1vX
?
-Solo world/vets/champs
I’m guessing guardian or ranger
I am trying to settle for a main in this game but the grass always looks greener with another profession. I only have insight into Elementalist, Mesmer and Thief.
Can someone give me a tip on a good jack of all trades profession?
I value safe stomping and diversity (ranged/melee and many builds) very highly so I won’t get bored. And complexity is most welcome but not required.
For further discussion, what profession would you argue is the best at:
1. Stomping
2. Escaping
3. AOE damage
4. Burst damage
5. Healing burst/sustained
6. 1v1
7. 1vX
8. Solo world/vets/champs

I am sure this has been brought up before but I could not find a relevant topic.
When working on multiple characters it gets extremely frustrating when I have ordered things on one character and then play on my alts to do some crafting. In the end eveything that should have gone to my main is now in the bags of my alt.
I can’t understand why we are unable to pick up money and individual items of the collect tab, other than forcing people who are using the TP as storage.
When looking in the task manager window the CPU usage of the GW2 Launcher is pending in the 20-30% range. I am using a i7 3612QM processor, GTX 650M and 8GB RAM.
When playing the game I am at around 60% CPU usage so why does the launcher need that much power?
Anyone else noticing this?
Agreed! It makes me sooo confused
I was shocked that this feature isn’t in the game already. I feel the same thing now when I started collecting tokens.
Yes this is a very needed feature.

Norn Female long hair clipping through shields (probably every single one)
Level 80 PVP Shield
This is a major flaw that really is unacceptable
So do I! At first I was like: “WOW did they finally fix the camera zoom?”. Unfortunately no.

Obviously you will lose a few frames because more graphics have to be rendered but for me personally, it is well worth it. I will try it out later and come with an evaluation.
Key bindings? & a question about power vs. condition damage.
in Elementalist

Thankfully this game does not have that many abilities that needs to be key-bound so we can have the very best for our important ones. Coming from WoW with around 40-50 keybinds this is just so much more enjoyable!
I find the need for a separate keybind option to open the Trading Post rather than going through the Gem Store tab EVERY time.
Also if I use small UI scale and a 1920×1080 resolution it is hard to make out the text. Anyone know how to fix this? I am using a HD monitor and native rendering in GW2.
Exactly the same thing for me as an Elementalist. Very unpleasant mission
I am pretty sure ArenaNet said that we would be able to level through our personal story, I just did not think it would turn out to be one level every 3rd level…
Running as administrator worked for me, however, if I have to do it every time I launch so if anyone has a way to fix this permanently it would be appreciated
For Windows 7 (should be the same for Vista):
>Right-click GW2 shortcut
>Go into Properties
>In the shortcut tab hit Advanced
>Check the Run as Administrator box
>Click the OK-button
>Click Apply
This was my first reaction looking at the GW2 map aswell. The block styled layout feels weird and unrealistic. It also makes it that much harder to remember certain zones because none of them have a distinct shape.
