I love to play with pets & minions and have played a necromancer in a lot of MMORPG’s. But the minions here in GW2 have the worse AI I’ve ever encountered and are the cause of a lot of deaths I’ve had.
What’s happening..? Well, nothing to be precisely, or all at once.
Yes you read it right… At times I attack a target and my minions (mostly the melee ones) just stand there and do nothing while I’m nuking my target. The target comes close, the minions still just look at them and I’m getting hit. Not a single ‘auto-assist’ is there on these minions.
And at times then I’m just walking, or just killed one target, the minions (again, mostly the melee ones) keel killing each & every target that’s around them.
What kind of minion AI is this? There’s something seriously wrong with this when I want them to (auto)attack and I can’t get them to stop attacking when they don’t need to.
I’m not asking for ranger minion control (would be nice though), but at least a better AI where minions ALWAYS assist you when you attack and a STOP ATTACK option would be nice.
We’re a small bunch of former Lineage II players looking to team up in Guild Wars 2 and enjoy every aspect of the game. Of course, not having Lineage II player makes you welcome as well

3rd try is a charm I guess… This time I finally had the undead on the spot. For those having similar problems, they are on your starting point where you said to check the canals.
Gave it an other try today, but still no undead near or around the mystic forge…
When I just tried it, the undead appeard at the top of a ramp nearby.
Walked all over the place but no undead popping up. Guess I’ll give it a try again later today.
I’ve just warned Lion’s Arch for the undead horde to be coming. Now I’m here to save the day in Lion’s Arch and kill the undead that did manage to enter the city.
So far so good. I killed them all, but the ones near the mystical forge don’t show up. I did see some folk run away in the distance there, but no undead there and the instance can’t be finished
Not sure what went wrong earlier today, but with the 2nd try I took all went well.
I’m having a similar issue. I was in wayfarer’s and got booted. When I tried to get back in, I got stuck on the loading screen until I got an error pop up. The odd thing is that I can log in with my main in Orr with no problem.
*Edit: Tried it with the rest of my alts. My main is the ONLY one that doesn’t run into this problem.
Main being the 1st character you’ve made I suppose? That’s the one that didn’t give me problems either…
Okay, with my Sylvari ranger, I’ve hidden the 5 frogs, spoken with the plant with me and then we should wait for the evil frogs to show up…
There came the problem though… As long as I’ve waited, no evil frogs showing up… What’s up with that? Did I not hide one of the good frogs as well or what..?
Starting about 10 minutes ago, the loading screens hang from time to time.
It happened first time when I tried to logon with my character and after selecting the one to play, I had an infinite loading screen and had to ALT-F4 GW2. 2nd time is right now, when exiting from a personal story.
I suspect GW2 to get into some loading loop without being able to load any more data. My HDD doesn’t show activity as it does normally during the loading screens.
[EDIT]
Noticed that after a minute I got kicked by the client and back to character select…
40 is not old Halidon – I’m older (not by much though) :p
And playing MMO’s at our age (now I DO feel old) is seen as ‘cool’ by the youngsters. I’ve heard that way too much from teenagers that ‘d.a.m.n, I wish my father was cool like you and play MMOs’…
Anyhow, I could recommend The Farstar Alliance ( http://farstarguild.co.uk/forum/index.php ) as option for you. The average age there is around 35 or so, and they’re a very relaxed bunch and trying to get a steady foothold in WvWvW.
Just letting everyone know the forums are up. they are still under construction, but if you would like to sign up and apply you can do so at:
Ah good! Let me sign up later tonight then (or tomorrow morning…)
BTW, what about ‘refugee guild for Lineage II players’?
If you haven’t found a guild yet, let me know. We are a small guild yet, but sound like you would be right up our alley. Knights of Beowulf (Sorrow’s Furnace) are so far made up of Ex- Lineage 2 players who have been playing L2 for the last 8+ years. Not sure what server you were on, but we were on the original Bartz server, which is now Chronos, and we came from the ArcaneGenesis Clan (Hopefully you weren’t an enemy ). Haven’t talked to many of the L2 players into moving over here yet, but still working on getting a few more to move on over.
We consist of a Guild Leader from Scotland, and the rest of us so far are from Canada/US. We are looking more for casual players that are here to have fun, and not rush to Lvl 80. Our ages range from about 30-65. We are doing more PVE at the moment, but once we get to a decent level, will partake in the WvWvW alot more. I will be setting up a forum in the next few weeks, and we do have a Ventrilo server already in place. If your interested let me know. You can leave me a message on the forums, or message Psyzin or AntusGully in game
It looks like I have found my guild to join
I started on Devianne back in 2006 because of the latency and (better) siege times for me. Moved to Teon in 2009 and left for about a year. When Naia was created after merge, I returned (late 2010) and enjoyed L2 for the last year till GoD was released.
I’ll be moving to your server and team up with you guys. I guess I’ll know a number of players from the L2 forums
Thanks for the invite 16, but looking at the guild site, I see only games I’d never play. I think it’s a bad start to team up with players with a far different (gaming)mindset than I have…
@All – I’ve hopped to Eredon Terrace. Guild invites are welcome there
Dropping you a mail right now ;-)
Due to my working schedule, I’m mostly able to play during the (EU) mornings from around 6am till 10am (CEST / UCT+2). With most EU guilds then still being asleep when playing, and I feel quite lonely and miss out on most of the WvW fun and dungeons. I’m about to hop to a US server (still free I saw) and a new guild…
Right now I’m not sure if an east-coast of west-coast guild is best for me to join (time difference -6 / -9 resp.). I’m also on-line after work if not too tired to play (7pm to around 9pm), east-coast might be the most logical for their morning & late evening players, while more west-coast players are online when I’m online in the morning…
I’m looking for a guild witch is active in both PvE and WvW, with sPvP being optional (can’t care too much about eSports).. The guild should exist of mature players (not meaning age, but mentality), where fun for the game is more important than being thebest. A guild consisting of (former) Lineage II players would be very nice ;-)
About me. I’m a 43-old man living in Holland. Have played a lot of MMO’s, but so far I’ve enjoyed Lineage II (best PvP system) and Lord of the Rings online (best PvE story line) the best, with Guild Wars 2 now being my new MMO-love.
At this moment I have a level 50 necromancer and a level 11 ranger.
If you think your guild is what I’m looking for, drop me a reply here or send me a PM (here or in-game).
Nice board this… Lets add my blog as well, right now all about GW2 ;-) Mostly about the characters I play…
This problem is NOT a GW2 problem but a hardware problem. I’m having the same issue (with my SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion) and it’s cause by magnetic interference from other devices/cards in your PC. If you ‘listen carefully’ to this noise, you’ll hear difference when you have more HDD and/or GPU usage.
My system has an ASUS M4N72 mainboarad which has 2 PCIe slots. One is directly next to the GPU slot, the other on the far side of the board right next to the 2nd GPU slot. When I bought my SB, I’ve placed it next to the GPU and had that ‘whining chopper noise’. When I moved it to the far PCIe slot, the noise was gone.
Recently I’ve gone SLI on my system, and I can’t use that far PCIe slot anymore, so I have to use the one next to the GPU again and the ‘whining chopper noise’ is there again.
Luckily, the SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion is plated, so when I use speakers, I do not hear the noise. When I use headphones on the front-jack, the noise is there. I have been able to minimize the noise by messing around with the cables.
Skills that cannot be used underwater have an explicit icon of a red cross through a drop of water. Flesh Golem is one of the skills that cannot be used underwater.
Ah, that’s the meaning of the icon I could not place. Thanks. Would mean that I can use only 1 (rather lausy with 3min CD) elite skill under water
I’m not sure if this is an intentional feature or not, but I can’t seem to summon that one golem minion (and the 1st robot skill as well) that I have as elite skills under water, where I can summon most (all?) other minions on the 7-9 keys normally…
Not sure what you’re complaining about… Get the Bone Minion 1st, then get the AoE heal skill and you’re ready to go (followed by more minions later on). No need to wait for the minion to die, just use AoE heal between battles and all minions are to full health again.
My minions rarely die, unless I’m in a real HUGE battle, but then I’ll die as well anyway :p
World v. World event rewards
We’re temporarily disabling rewards on Dolyak caravan escort events in World v. World while we work on rebalancing them.

I hope this helps. A lot of bots are doing this.
If bots were doing this, lets hope queues will go down, though I have my doubts…
I’d rather see a similar increase of capacity on the Wv3 servers as ANet did for the PvE servers. Only this way the queues can (will?) be lowered.
I’m having a problem related to FRAPS & GW2.
I’ve set GW2 to the highest settings and have a stable FPS between 45 and 60. In major cities (LA, DR) FPS drops to 25, but that’s understandable with so many players there.
Whenever I start FRAPS (to record vista’s, personal story or even WvWvW), the FPS drops dramatically from the regular 45-60 to as low as 10-20 (with 20 when there’s really NOTHING moving at all).
I realize that using FRAPS (or any other program to capture movies), the FPS will drop as it does with most games I play. But with most games the drop is only around 25%, and not over 75% as with GW2.
Anyone has a (clear) solution on why recording with FRAPS make the FPS drop in GW2 this dramatically?
NOTE: though the FPS drop is massive, general performance is still good. I’ve been in active Wv3 PvP with only 8FPS (it was REAL crowded then) and the game still running smoothly…
Dynamic IP - will i need to validate with email each time to log in?

@Venor – Some ISP’s still use dynamic IP’s to prevent their users from making webservers on their side of the line. I know of UPC and Alice doing it in the past (no UPC user for a real long time now and Alice is no more in Holland).
