Build for an (almost total) beginner

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions! I was worried for a while that I was only going to get trolls like the first couple of answers; thanks for disproving that!

The way I see it, the most conservative strategy is Juba’s (keep traits, start replacing gear), then Flint’s with 30/0/20/0/20 and DPS gear, and lastly Nike’s with DPS traits played with tanky gear. I think I will actually do all of these, one after the other, in this order, until I get good enough to graduate to full DPS gear with current meta traits. If I find myself unable to get there (which is pretty likely as I said before), I will at least have pushed myself as far as possible into the current meta of full Zerker/DPS, which is as much as I can ask from myself anyway (I am not a really good gamer, not event close).

Again, thanks for all the advice guys; this is really helpful!

Hey guys,

I hit level 80 about 2 weeks ago and for my first few dungeon forays I went for the Invincible built. For those that don’t know, this is a super tanky shout healing built 0/0/30/30/10 with full PTV armor/trinkets, and cleric weapons. I have enjoyed the built a lot, and I think is an excellent build for a beginner. I felt my shouts helped the party and I was often the last man standing.

However, I am getting the feeling that I could/should be bringing more DPS to the table. For example, I recently run AC p1 and realized that the most difficult part was cleaning those burrows as fast as possible; my tanky built was not great for this. Also, being the last man standing might actually not be a good thing; if I were doing more damage perhaps there would be more of us standing by the end. I am guessing this is old news for most of you, as full Zerker seems to be the current meta. However, I don’t think I am ready to go full Zerker yet (actually I doubt I will ever be ready to go full Zerker).

So, what is a good build for a not-completely-inexperienced warrior? Soldier armor and zerker trinkets/weapons has been recommended to me, but what about the traits? Keep the shout heal, or wean off it? More the 30 from Defense to Strength/Arms?

Any advice (or links to similar threads) is welcomed!

Hey guys, thanks for all the answers! I didn’t realize that there is loot restricted to the higher level zones, or that you get exotics for completing them, that’s good to know. I will definitely give these zone a shot, see how they work for me. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the responses! I absolutely agree that just seeing the world is a great incentive and can see myself pushing forward just for that (although the Orr areas look rather bleak and not as pretty as the starting areas; so far anyway).

As for the loot being better, I was under the impression that the loot you get from doing events scales with your level. That is, if I do the fire elemental (Asura starting zone) or the great wurm (Syrvari startin zone) I still get level 80 loot with a rare and the (very) occasional exotic. Am I wrong? Would killing random mobs at Orr give better loot than world bosses? Or would karma be higher there?

Also, the couple of times I ventured around Orr, well, it was kind of lonely there I really enjoy random interactions with other players (jumping in to help some one, having people help me) and that seemed to be a bit more rare in those zones. Perhaps I am wrong about this, haven’t explored enough really.

And, no, my goal is not to farm my way into legendaries as efficiently as possible or anything like that. I prefer running dungeons with friends (and making friends while running dungeons, the community has been great so far). That’s what I do when I have time. When I have less than an hour to play though, it seems more rewarding (in monetary gain and social interaction) to hit big events than keep pushing through gazzilions of Risen.

Hi all,

I got to level 80 by completing my race’s regions (human) and then doing lower level regions of other races (questing with friends and just eager to get to 80 fast). Now that I am 80 I have been farming events and getting into dungeons with friends.

Is there a reason for me to complete the higher level zones (70+)? I will occasionally run through them to get way points for more events and the fun of exploring the world, but I can’t see why I should bother with filling in all these hearts or getting to the vistas. Any good incentives that I am unaware of?

Thanks!
