Network Lag [Merged]

I’ll chime in here as well:

(1) Long loading screens, perhaps that’s normal I don’t know.

(2) Lag – Freezing [my character freezes, skill button depress animation happens but doesn’t activate actual skill]. This freeze/lag could happen for 5-10 seconds while the world carries on about its business.

(3) If I disconnect, it usually occurs after this lag/freezing situation.

This all starting happening often, within the last week.
I am on the Dragonbrand server, if that helps.

Frequent crashing from "corrupted files"

I have been experiencing the same problem as others, specifically:

(1) Lag – Freezing = 5-10 seconds; the PvE world around me is going about its business, yet I’m stuck in time. Then (I presume) the server catches up and I’m either dead or close to it.

(2) Random disconnects = with that notorious error code (I’ll jot it down next time).

These problems started occurring ~ 1 week ago, or less.

What I’ve done:
(1) Ran gw2.exe – repair, no errors found, or reported according to log file.
(2) Ran Memtest86+ last night, for 9 hours. No errors reported.
(3) Corrupt .dat files are dated August 21/2012, nothing more recent.

Firewall settings (Windows) are correct and I’ve disabled my anti-virus (Avast) during game play. If it’s of interest, I have no issues with either Skyrim or Serious Sam 3 BFE (multiplayer online).

System:
Windows 7/64-bit
i7-860 (default clocks)
8 gb Ram (G.skill PC3 12800-default settings)
Sapphire 7850 OC (factory overclocked-default clocks)
Western Digital Cav.Black 7200 rpm

My graphics driver is ATI CCC 12.4. I see no reason to update this driver, as there is no mention in release notes from ATI pertaining to Guild Wars 2. Last official release from ATI was August 15/2012.

I should mention again that these issues started happening often within the last week.

My frame rates are fine, I have v-sync enabled and most of the time in less populated areas it’s 60. Highly populated areas or busy world events, may dip in the 40s. That’s never been an issue.

Thanks for listening; on a positive note, it’s a gorgeous game with obviously alot of love and effort put in. The vegetation has so much detail

Is there any reason for Death Shroud to start at 0% at the start of a match

It doesn’t take that long to build up the death shroud meter, there’s a good handful of traits / utility skills / weapon skills related to feeding it, holding it longer and so on.
You’re right, some get their F skills right away: Ranger does get his F2 pet ability, 2 pets to swap, but a fair cool down. Mesmer / Guardian same deal.
Your death shroud can potentially last a good amount of time if you specced into it. Fair trade though for quick – short lasting, vs. potential long lasting death shroud with 4 built in skills.

I play a necro, but I traid a warrior for one play session...

I’ve tried a well-based necro, which was fantastic for anti-melee/holding points and I finally didn’t soil my pants when I knew a thief was lurking in the vicinity. I’ve also tried a condition-based necro which I’m getting the hang of and enjoying. Timing is crucial for sure to lay on the hurt and/or send it back at them. Holding my own most of the time now. It’s an interesting profession; haven’t tried minion master yet but that doesn’t really interest me for some reason.

In regards to warrior: I’ve tried 3 different layouts and I’m most comfortable with mace/mace, axe/shield set up. I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with the 2-handed sword, but didn’t spend much time with it.

How to Report?

It seems commonplace for people to run their mouth off in sPvP, perhaps other areas as well. I firmly believe there should be repercussions in place for such vile behavior.

I would like examples to be set, punishment in place to curb this behavior and let these people know there will be consequences for their actions. This has gone on far too long and was also quite common in Guild Wars 1.

Some might say it’s acceptable behavior, deal with it. That is condoning their actions and unacceptable. Turning off local/private chat etc. is an option, but not great for wanting to converse with those that are polite.
It’s time for change and hard line rules set in place. That seems to be the only way some people will get the point.

Anet, what is your stance on this situation?

Is there a list of Moa Morph skills somewhere, or anyone know them off the top of your head?

I’m usually sitting there with a thumb up my….not knowing what to do when I’m turned into mr. chirpy bird. Is there a dash away or stun skill button?

I think thieves are OP in sPvP

How about offering suggestions for each profession to defend/counter a Thief?
Surely each profession has viable ways to counter.

I’ve tried with Ranger,Warrior,Mesmer,Necro:

With the Ranger, I used up both dodges, a spike trap and lightning reflexes, then I was a dead duck.

With Warrior, I had balanced stance trait and utility break stun skill I think, both used, then 3 second block with shield, this managed to save me. Of course he disappeared into yonder and went on to another target.

With Mesmer, I had a couple break stun utility clone/phantasm skills which bought me some time and some crippling clones (trait) to help me get away. I just ran for my life at this point.

With Necro, a well, and a few conditions bought me some time, and I managed to kill the Thief. Bear in mind, a good handful of the Necro’s skills / traits, including F1 don’t work properly yet, so I’m looking forward to those fixes when the time comes.

If your break stun skills/traits and dodges are used up, yeah the odds are against surviving. I’m barely able to survive most of the time vs. a Thief, but then again, I don’t have the response times of my younger years, nor have I played a Thief.

So to be fair, I need to understand how a Thief’s initiative works, how long he/she can be cloaked, in order to get better at timing and surviving. I’ll roll one soon and see how easy/hard it is for me to make a kill, versus making kills with other professions. Until then, I’ll reserve judgement and go have lunch

Unable to use Death Shroud abilities for 4 seconds upon entering

sPvP:
I’m having the same problem with Death Shroud (F1).

Scenario:
When my meter is full, I hit F1, yet none of the 4 Death Shroud skills are useable for ~ 4 – 5 seconds. Like the OP stated, sometimes you can cast Fear (skill 3), and maybe the 4th skill, but only after 4-5 seconds has expired. Otherwise it just ends and you revert back to normal form, yet you’ve expended all your Death Shroud meter due to taking damage.
Or, you go into Death Shroud mode and immediately revert back to normal mode, as if you had clicked ‘exit’ Death Shroud mode.

Weapon sets:
(1) Dagger [30% chance to steal life every 2 seconds sigil…forgot name] & Focus [Intelligence sigil]

(2) Staff (Hydromancy sigil)

Note:
I do not have this problem while practicing on the Training Dummies. F1 works as intended. I should also note that in sPvP, I am not being stunned, dazed etc., as I have tried using it with and without anyone around me many times, same result.

cheers,

[Bug] sPvP Servers

Hello,

Each time I try to join a Server in sPvP, many times it’s empty or near empty. I have applied both filters [Hide Empty & Hide Full], yet that doesn’t seem to work.

I try to join servers with indicated close to full capacity 13-15 players, yet they’re clearly not there.
If you’re working on it, great. Thought I’d bring it to your attention.

cheers,
