I don’t think I’d use an auto-attack for grenades. Lobbing them is half the fun, not to mention you can take greater control in hitting multiple targets without use of an auto.
I really struggled to get into the game. It’s not that the world isn’t interesting, or the gameplay is poorly designed, but I just wasn’t feeling it. That is, until I tried engineer. The idea of kits has completely changed my outlook on this game, and I haven’t had this much fun with a game in a long time. Having the ability to change your playstyle on the fly to adapt is so refreshing. It isn’t like changing weapons to gain a couple new abilities, it’s like changing the whole profession mechanic. It’s a PVP dream, and super fun in PVE as well. I just can’t say enough about how fun it is.
Anyway, I wanted to share my 2 cents, from someone who didn’t find other professions enjoyable.
I can semi-agree with your points on no story information leading into new zones and dynamic events. In most cases, you’re left in the dark wondering why exactly it is you’re helping the people you’re helping. However, if you take the time to speak to the NPCs, and you have your audio in the game on, you can pick up bits and pieces of information on why you’re doing what you’re doing. I wish it was a bit more immersive though.
That’s a giant range in FPS. What does the rest of your setup look like? I personally would say save up and wait until you can upgrade the mobo as well.
Thanks for the suggestions. I did check the refresh rate, everything was good with that. I’ll see if I can locate a driver for the TV, but I would think the picture would be wonky in or out of the game if that was the problem. Since this only happens in games, and only when running at fullscreen, it’s a bit weird. I’m at work now, but when I get home I’ll mess around with it some more to see what I can come up with. Connections to the TV are sound, and I do have another cable I can test with in case. I did mess with the AA as well, since I figured it might be a control panel setting. Nothing changed when I disabled or enabled any settings via the nvidia control panel.
Another detail I forgot to add..I tried running Civ V as a test case as well and it did the same thing. When I alt tabbed out of the game and back in, the screen snapped back to normal. It’s almost like it’s not fitting correctly when you first open the application, but then once it’s able to resize, it acts normally. Very odd.
So, last night I put together a brand new PC with all new parts. Everything was going great. I updated Windows, my drivers, etc. The weird thing is, when I opened a game, not only GW2, my screen would get semi-blocky, like the resolution was off or the driver needed to be updated. I checked my resolution and cross-checked it with how the GPU was displaying, everything looked good.
I kept tinkering around and I tried running the game in windowed fullscreen. It worked fine with no distortion. So for some reason, when a game is opened, something is happening that’s causing some distortion. The other odd thing I’ve noticed is that screenshots I take during that problem are displaying the game normally…which almost makes me think that the problem is on the monitor, but it can’t be…can it? Any advice is appreciated. Here are some specs:
Intel 2500k
Nvidia GTX 660 TI
Sony TV for my monitor, running at a less popular resolution of 1366 X 768 (displayed everything normally on my old comp and when not playing a game)
8GB RAM
Thanks for any advice in advance.
I’m a bit surprised (well, not really), at all the complaints about the game when it hasn’t even been out for a full month. Give the game some time to develop. Other MMOs weren’t 100% finished when they were released either. It’s the reason we have patches, updates, expansions, etc. This is not the final game, so try to have a little bit of fun.
Take personal measures like blocking them. It clears your chat up so you can read things you want. On top of that, just keep reporting them. They’ll be dealt with in time, and the way ANet has been on the ball with issues, I can’t imagine they won’t deal with this as well.
I’m 100% against the idea of mounts. I personally saw flying mounts destroy another popular, not-to-be-named MMO, and I’d hate for the ball to even get rolling on the whole concept.
Additionally, maps are designed so that walking is pretty manageable, not to mention the waypoints are easy to navigate between. What purpose would mounts serve anyway? They’d just clutter up the environment in my opinion.
And here I was thinking the female sets of armor were too revealing…
I suppose I favor a more realistic view, rather than someone rushing into a fight with a pair of cloth underwear on and a bra.
I agree with pmiles here. There isn’t a “healer” anymore. Anyone can heal themselves and negate damage through abilities. There isn’t any reason that someone who wants to focus more on support shouldn’t be able to contribute damage-wise as well.
