I’m going to try to leave this criticism as constructively as possible, so please keep in mind if any developers/staff happen to be reading this that I’m speaking out of the spirit of wanting to make Guild Wars 2 as good as it can be.
This whole mechanic was poorly implemented, to be frank. I can understand wanting to base it on day/night cycles to get optimal lighting/visual presentation and to have it “make sense” within the game world, but since there is no way of knowing what exact time of day it is and since this value is practically randomized among every server/overflow you’re basically asking us to wait a random amount of time between 0 and 120 minutes (assuming you don’t get disconnected) to get this achievement and festival hat.
I’d like to suggest these events be made to run at a certain real-world time for all servers/overflows. The sky is always darker in LA for this event anyway. At the very least, please give us an indication of how much time is remaining until the event fires, just a simple countdown in the Living Story quest box would work.
I enjoy these events and appreciate the work you put into them, I’d just like to see this particular instance run smoother and avoid the confusion and chagrin felt among players wanting to get this achievement/festival hat. Thanks!
