Just came back to gw after a 6-month break, and some of my old scripts don’t work
Looking at https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/:
…
/v1/events.json
…
(note: no [d])
however, if I access https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/events.json
{"error":51,product,module,line,“text”:“events.json disabled”}
the v2 one is disabled as well (but that one is actually marked as such in the /v2/ list, and trying to access https://api.guildwars2.com//v2/events produces {"text":“API not active”})
is this a bug? or are there plans to bring one or the other of them back up? or is there an announcement somewhere that I didn’t see?
thanks

spent about 1.5 million karma on orrian jewelry boxes today. that’s 330 boxes.
I have to:
1) double-click each box to open it – ~650 clicks
2) double-click each karma item that comes out of them – an additional 1000+ clicks
3) spend all the resultant karma back on boxes – almost 200 additional boxes, which have to be individually opened again, etc.
so doing this involved me clicking the mouse on the order of 4-5 thousand times, took about 30 minutes, and was generally painful and annoying.
would be awesome if the right-click-Use option brought up a “how many do you want to burn?” dialog for things which make sense to multi-use (e.g. item boxes) – I would have done the above with 20 clicks and in 2 minutes instead of the ridiculousness I had to endure.
Needs to be done/put back in
possibly as an option in the Options page
I can’t see ANY game content in the busier events – the flood of bodies covers everything, I get by with tabbing through targets until I get the one I want and then seeing which way my bow shoots to figure out where he even IS but this gets silly (plus very, very laggy).
Hell is other people, so the ability to turn them off would be a godsend.
(attached is all I’ve ever seen of Scarlet)
Huh, so “midnight on the 12th” apparently means 11:59 and not 12:01 (the bonfire is still not up).
And it’s stopping on the 14th instead of the 16th now.
So how is “Time limited = good”, again?
(who’d have thunk that one can post to a 5-day-old thread and already be necro-posting?)
I, too, hate dungeons.
Not because they’re inherently bad, but because they were implemented badly.
Case 1: they CANNOT be done with less than 5 people (at least the reasonably hard ones)
Which is not that bad, in itself – but it means that if out of the 5, one is incompetent, you still have no chance.
Just got back from a 3-hour run of the Weapons Facilities, where a single ranger with the HP of a European coconut-laden swallow kept 4 other people from being able to finish – dozens of runs on the bosses, with different strategies and varying amounts of success, until she left and we replaced her with someone competent.
Case 2: they cannot be stopped and resumed later.
I don’t have 3 hours to waste in one sitting, but because it’s a “multiplayer dungeon”, it doesn’t have meaningful checkpoints I can come back to later, so it must be done in one sitting.
Case 3: this particular dungeon is time-limited.
And because the event is expiring this Sunday, if I don’t do it today then I won’t have time to do it before it ends. So my options are: not get enough sleep tonight and go to work like a zombie tomorrow, OR never get to see the end of the event and never get the final rewards. Whee.
I am working on mine. Not because I need it, but because with 100% world completion and top-tier gear, I need something else to be a goal, and I don’t really want to just endlessly grind dungeons. Admittedly, the difficulty scale of this particular quest is less “difficult” and more “grindy/annoying”, but whatever – I played Everquest 1 back in the day, this is a piece of cake compared to the epic quests there
