I just did a Fractal scale 9 (which was my personal level) so I could get it up to 10. Got to Mai boss fight, and near the end my client crashes. By the time I could load back into the fractal, my group had killed the boss. I didn’t get any chest (which bummed me out a bit) but more importantly, I didn’t get credit for the whole fractal, so I am still personal scale 9. Instead of 10. All because I missed the last 40sec of the boss fight.
Odd, I actually seemed to have a slight increase in fps after the patch. Not by much but in LA I was always at about 50fps, and now it jumps up to 70fps in LA at times, other times it stays just how it was before.

Yeah I had noticed this too. Only thing is when I wen’t to report it as a bug, I have no idea what Sub-Area to put it under. Since a ton of them are like “((483552))”. Like how are we supposed to report a bug if the report a bug menu is bugged?
Graphics settings: Everything as high as it goes (FXAA antialiasing, Native Render Sampling (as I don’t think this does anything at 4k resolution)), Best Texture Filtering checked, Depth Blur checked, Effect LOD checked, High-Res Character Textures checked. I play in Windowed Fullscreen with default refresh rate and unlimited frame limiter.
Auido settings: Sound Quality slider all the way to Highest Quality, Music Interval is in middle, Mixing Buffer Size is all the way to Most Stable.
And I don’t have this issue on anything else that I do/play so I can safely say it’s not a cpu throttle, but I will monitor that and check/report it here next time this happens to me.
This does happen after playing for a while. Just had it happen again and I’ve been playing for 2 hours right now. Usually takes longer than that.
As for heat, that’s not the issue. I have a massive CPU heatsink (Noctua NH-D14) which Prime95 never got it above 75c and no game is going to push it as hard as Prime95 does. And GW2 is CPU intensive so my 970 isn’t even at 100% usage even while playing at 3840×2160 resolution. So heat is not an issue. I do only have 8Gb of 133MHz DDR3 ram though, and if it’s that there is a memory leak somewhere, that could very well be causing the issue. I haven’t checked for that yet though.
Every now and then the sound will stop working correctly. As in only the background music will be playing, everything else stops. And then my FPS will start to drop a lot. Over time it slowly get’s lower and lower. I play at an average of 45fps in EoTM, but when this happens it drops to 15fps instantly, then slowly goes down. After about 5min it’s at 6fps. Then you have to force close the game for it to shut down.

Oh and I couldn’t make this post yesterday because the forums were being so slow that it wouldn’t even let me log in. Yet every other website would load super fast like normal.
Starting yesterday I cannot play for more than 3min at a time. I will log in, select my character and sometimes before I even get done with the loading screen a message will pop up saying that the client lost connection to the server. And GW2 is installed on an SSD so the load times are very short. If I do manage to load all the way in, I have about enough time to open a box in my inventory and equip an item. then anything after that doesn’t register because I have been disconnected. I have tried to reboot my PC, but that didn’t help. I uninstalled the game and re-installed it and that didn’t help either. Which brings up another interesting fact. When I was downloading the game I was sitting at about 8-10MBps for a little, and then it would drop down to 80KBps and slowly go up to 2MBps. My internet speeds are roughly 110Mbps down and 12Mbps up. This is not an issue with my router as I have had no issues since game launch, and my girlfriend can play on the laptop connected to the same router without issues.
Guild Wars 2 is CPU intensive, so you are not going to be using all of your 970’s power at (im assuming you are running at 1080p). Higher resolutions will take more, but I would agree with Novuake in saying it’s a CPU bottleneck. It’s not that the game isn’t multicore optimized (I haven’t checked in a while but I think it uses 4 cores, maybe just 2 though). Im running an i7 3770k @ 4.2GHz and a GTX 970 and the world bosses give me about a 11fps (but I am running at 4k resolution).
So if I am correct then SuperSampling is rendering the image at 4k, then downsampling it to 1080p to make it extra sharp correct? (assuming you are using at 1080p monitor). Does this only work with 1080p monitors or lower? I have a 4k monitor and I don’t see a performance hit between native and supersampling (average 50fps).
Alright, thanks guys. I will have to try that build out
Well one experience i have with a necro in WvW, i went up on a Warrior, and a Ranger and after 5min they had another Necro come help them. After another 3min i had killed the Warrior but then they finally killed me. Seems to me they either didnt know how to play or just the other necro didnt know how to use him. Seeing as it took 3 of them far to long to take me down.
So i have a lv 45 necro, and i am spec’d mainly tanky. I dont really understand what the condition damage would help, or what triggers it, or even how helpful it is in fights. Could anyone please explain to me why this is something i need to spec into, or if i should just ignore it like i am right now.
