Good news, they must be working weekends, my ticket number was 121109-000560 and I was restored today. When I logged in I had mail from a gold farmer and they were spamming the chat boards non stop in lions arch. I personally think what may have happened is [out on a limb] hackers may have compromised a large number of passwords and the teams quarantined as many of those accounts as possible. That may or may not be correct, but it makes more sense than being banned for botting when you are innocent. Be patient folks, it seems like they are trying hard despite the fact you can’t see that. I was out for just over two days, and it was a sad time for me. I’m going to have to look into get that authenticater today when I get back on. God Speed Tyrians

This forum has been up for 23 days, and of the 22 pages 12 of them are from the last three days alone. I feel like there may be issues going on here not being openly expressed by Anet.

My account was suspended for no reason and GW2 customer support is pretty much useless!
What can I do to get my account back to normal?
You need to use the support tab, file a ticket, and give them as much information as you you can on the issue. Only file one ticket, update it if they ask you… and get in line with the rest of us.

I think the banning system is most likely working which is why there has been no official statement as to why it seems there are so many people being incorrectly banned. If that is the case that would most likely mean that all of those who were unjustly banned must have shared some of the attributes they have set within the parameters of the flagging system. I’m not saying we are all guilty, I’m saying the system is probably working it just needs to be refined as to not create false positives. That or it has been bugging out and they haven’t fixed it yet.
The bad part is actually not that we are not playing at the moment if we were banned for allegedly, “botting.” but the fact we will not know what actions we took to get flagged. Myself, as I spend a lot of hours in the game when I’m not at work, will always have a little bit of uneasiness not knowing if its going to happen again or why it happened in the first place to avoid it in the future. Although one should not have to “avoid” certain actions because they could lead to a false ban.
I think the idea of the automated ban system is great and when it can finally have about a 95-100% success rate [that being 95-100% of only guilty parties being banned] it will be fantastic. Until then Anet I’m sure realizes there will be some blowback by the community that gets hit, but unfortunately for us, it is most likely for the betterment of the game in the long run as it allows them to see what is and isn’t working properly. If it had been me however, I would have stuck to one server while still in the early stages of the system, and if this isn’t the early stages of the system, Anet is going to be having some issues. Because every time this purge happens more and more actual innocent people are going to feel betrayed.

Toble I think the first set of numbers are the date if thats true then the 121109 really could be 11/09/12 which was the day it happened. My ticket was 000560 so I assume that should mean it was only the 560th ticket that day [or] to that department. So realistically it means that shortly after this purge happened there was a huge influx of tickets being issued. It would be curious to see where they currently are in the counter, and when I hear back on mine at 560, I will let people know here.

By that methodology this means that 1, I would be low on the list and shouldn’t be waiting for 2 days and 2. That is not the date since it was input on the 8th.
I doubt that is what they do since I put it in late in the day on the 8th and I am pretty sure others have gotten theirs back more expeditiously.
It’s whatever though. Arenanet shouldn’t have gotten themselve into this mess. It is just hurting them, especially on and “invite your friends” weekend.
They should roll back all the bans until they can fix the system instead of fixing it one by one. I would rather the bots get another few days of play verses us getting none.
I have submitted several tickets regarding other issues before and the first part of the reference number all seem to match the date of which I issued the tickets.
My ticket regarding the ban is: 121108-001970
Toble you have to remember, low on the totem pole for the [9th] I’m sure these are backlogged possibly a day or more. Seeing the last post by kcchang, he said he had been helped and his ticket was in the 300’s for the eighth which means depending on the schedule they have for weekends and how many tickets they had on the eighth it could be several more days until we hear anything. Be patient.

Well I think the “bot sweep program” may still have a few kinks in it. It’s frustrating because I do spend a lot of time in the game although I did take a month off recently. I have other things I can do, but when something like this happens I feel it necessary to continually check in to see if there is any progress on my ticket. It doesn’t help that I recruited a close friend from another game, bought the game for him as he didn’t want to spend the money on it seeing as he purchased a newly released game Tuesday [I don’t know the rules on talking about other games so I won’t name it.] and then the day after I buy it for him I get banned for something I didn’t do. I hope it gets resolved in a timely manner as not only have I reported spam before, I’ve also given the game great remarks on various websites [retailers/gaming blogs]. This is an issue the studio needs to resolve especially when dedicated players, ones that will bring more business with their praise and have lengthy play times get pulled out and aggravated. The negative response will do much more harm then the criticism of actual bots and gold sellers when they switch and take loyal friends with them.
Ok, yea I was just curious. I hadn’t left my computer all afternoon, but I had been on for quite a few hours…. probably 6 when it happened. No AFK that I know of. Other than that I had done maybe 4-5 jump puzzles and sold some stuff on the BLTP. As far as the BLTP goes I don’t imagine I had done anything illegal, I had bought several bags, consumed them and sold the stuff I didn’t want back to the market? Is that something that could have been a legitimate reason to ban me?
Interesting, so you as well were doing a jump puzzle? Did you have your armor on of off? Also did you die several times?
KrisV it seems like about the same time it happened to me in the same time frame. I had read that they have an automated system that searches for “botting” if you are like me and that is was your cause for being banned, I’m curious as to what you had done yesterday while playing. I doubt they will come out with the specifics on what the bot searches for, but I have a feeling [for me] it was because I was dying constantly without armor on possibly? I was doing the griffon rock run jump puzzle with some people from a different guild, and I remember seeing someone else comment on how they were rubber banding like myself before I lost connection to a black screen and was forced to restart to a “banned” prompt. Also curious as to whether any of the others in the party were banned or if I was the only one, but I have no way to contact them. I assume this will get resolved, I would hate to not be able to play this game again because I won’t be buying another copy. I already purchased one for a friend as well as my own.

Less than 20 minutes ago I was banned “due to botting, extended unattended play, etc.” I do not bot or cheat in any way, and I rarely leave the game unattended for more than 5 minutes unless I have to use the restroom. I’ve never been in trouble for anything like this and I quite frankly have no I idea why this has happened.
I was doing the Griffon Rock jump puzzle just a few moments ago, and I had the exact same issue as Hagger. I was waiting up by the chest and was getting a rubber banding effect, then the screen went black. I thought it was froze, although I could still hear the background music so I closed it out. When I tried to log in it said. “Your guild wars 2 account has been terminated….” I have not done anything to break the rules of conduct and love the game, Please look into this for me.
