If the following applies to you:

->Launch Guild Wars 2 -> Launcher begins to update – > Then freezes

Try – Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings -> CHECK Automatically detect settings.

This worked for me.

Done this twice with two computers, one high end with windows eight and one with windows 7, WORKED BOTH TIMES. Try this first.

My launcher boots up, and then immediately freezes, just the empty fields for name and password.
I have run repair, I have made an admin, I have tried all options up to date short of re installing.

I’ve heard a lot about how commanders are bought and not earned. I’ve followed some horrid commanders and some who have done nothing but improve my gameplay.

This is a comprehensive idea…
Anyone who is a commander, should be able to gather votes.. One vote per account. So the average player can click on a commander and give them their vote.
Once a commander has accumulated 1000 votes, from different individuals, they become a CHIEF commander, this lets people know that this person is Chosen to lead as opposed to bought his position.
Once your a chief commander, you have the following abilities.. Special icon or color, on map chat. You can also change to a ‘command post’ which in pve, turns you into an invulnerable tent… You can now see all active commanders on the map (as always) but also you can see how big their squad is, as well as see what they see, so you can issue orders. This will be activated by a command, to ‘take control of map’ which means no other chief commander can take control of the map… Chief commanders will get a small amount of karma and experience for everything active squads complete. This encourages people to ‘join squads’ and also give real direction on a map level.
At the time that a Chief commander gains 10000 votes, he is elevated to a LORD commander, which the only difference is that characters have a option, to ‘add tips’. This in NO WAY reduces the money given the individual players, but instead gives the lord commander a small amount (like 5copper) for all kills and events… The commander also has an option to ‘share wealth’ to commanders who are following orders.
Now this would be a system is intended to ELEVATE the simple ‘I have 100 gold commanders’ to people we trust and can depend on in events or areas that matter.
It costs the average player nothing, but requires that a person be actually, helpful, honest, and able to LEAD.
The additional money and karma is only to compensate that while these people are leading large groups rather then playing.

Possible flaw : people paying other people for their votes..
Fixes : Vote down system, if someone who obviously is trying to get the titles for self gain and is not a useful commander, can be voted down to lose their accomplishment.

I’m sure there are many flaws that I haven’t thought of, and I hope this simply leads to a better idea of how to separate the real leaders from people who managed to get 100 gold.

I have to say, that I personally I have spent over 130 tickets, and more then 3 days trying to beat Liadri, Maybe I just suck or whatever, but that amount of effort should get some reward.

But all I feel is frustrated that I spent all the time, effort, money for very little reward. Anet is not intending that only hardcore gamers feel like accepted by this game, so it makes sense to add a easy mode.

As for the people who a want to achieve over others, that’s what titles should be for.
