According to Colin Johanson, Guild Wars 2 Game Director, Super Adventure Box will be back in the future. We don’t have a timeframe for the return of the SAB, but we will be bringing back this popular content.

I know you would like more details, more info, a date, etc., but that’s not available right now. I hope the above comment reassures you, though, because at the core, the important answer is that yes, SAB will be back in the future.

Oh, so they did. My mistake.

I’m not sure if I’d even be satisfied if anet just up and turns SAB back on. We keep their game afloat but they can’t be bothered to even acknowledge a 41 page thread? What we should really be after is an apology. This is ludicrous.

And yet another one that completely disregards the fact that they HAVE acknowledge it and even given us information about the fact that it WILL be back. In this very thread.

I probably missed it somewhere over the 41 pages. Can I get a link friend?

Based on the datamine, it could be coming sometime this month. Yes releasing the minis the day before April Fool’s was incredibly dumb, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt until May.

Can we riot if the SAB isn’t up by May?

I think Anet has a straightforward plan for SAB that is already on their timetable. You just have to wait, even though it can take years. They want SAB to be integrated into GW2 story so it does not look like extra game inside of a game that does not match here. They already told us something like this, that they listened to this negative feedback. And as Colin promised that SAB will make return, I assume these above-mentioned things. Just hold on and live your life.

It IS already integrated into the lore of GW2. It has a story.

Also, I’ve been told repeatedly that just because a dev has something to say about literally anything about the game, that doesn’t make it a promise and I have no right to get upset if whatever they said doesn’t turn out to happen at all. So, which should I do, here, folks? Should I trust that this content is promised to come back, or should developers not be held to what they say, because sometimes stuff comes up and it doesn’t work out?

At this point, I’m half expecting SAB to be a feature of the expansion. And then people will come here and say, “They never promised it would come back for free.” because that’s totally not bullkitten.

Shills gonna shill, man. I’m honestly on the fence about the new expansion but if they try to offer what was once a free thing as a paid feature of an expansion pack I’m definitely not buying it.

I’ve actually been reading through most of the SAB posts, and I’m curious what is the justification besides “we want it” for SAB to be made permanent? Player base splitting, reward influx, temp draw are all reasons to keep it temporary. What are the reasons for it to be permanent?

Just to clarify once again I would also love to see it be made permanent, I enjoyed playing it while it was around ~I’ve even kept my coin and baubles~. I’m just interested in seeing what other reasons beyond “we want it”. The OP is asking for a logical response from the devs as to why it’s not open permanently, yet offers no concrete reasoning other then “more players like me want to play it”. Lets get some solid logical reasons out here, and maybe we would get a solid logical answer

The thing about the “player base splitting” excuse is that people will eventually be done with the current content and go back to the things they were doing before. It being permanent would make it available to new players (like myself) who never got to experience it, or returning players who may have also missed it. Players won’t feel like they need to rush through it just to get all of the rewards and go through it at their leisure to really enjoy it.

ANet is not stupid.

I haven’t been here too long but even I can tell some of their reasons for doing things/not doing other things are really questionable. I wouldn’t say they’re stupid though, they’re obviously doing something right or we wouldn’t be playing the game.

The fact that you all think you know better than they what they need to do is hilarious, and shows you have no idea how businesses function.

The problem with video games nowadays is that they’re treated too much like business. When a company loses touch with its playerbase and starts doing everything in their power to make money you end up with a company like EA where they nickel and dime you for everything they possibly can. I get that this is a subscription free game and they need to make money to keep everything running, but flat out ignoring what is obviously a huge demand for something they can easily make money off of isn’t too smart of a business move. Hell, someone mentioned earlier that streams have been bombed with “BRING BACK SAB” spam. It’s obvious people want it. If anything they should have added it a while ago and figured out more ways to make money off it. It feels like they don’t want to please the player base or make money. Even Riot Games brought back old skins they said they would never sell again due to huge demand and the fact that unused content doesn’t generate any income. I’d buy a permanent coin in a heartbeat, I’m sure lots of people in the thread would. If someone else comes along in the future and likes the SAB enough they’ll probably buy a coin too. It would generate more income over a longer period. Especially when they decide to add new worlds.

Let’s just calm down everyone. At the end of the day it’s just video games.

Are you saying when we buy something, if its for entertainment we shouldn’t care about the quality?

I’m saying we shouldn’t start insulting each other and arguing over something we bought so we could have fun. We should absolutely care about the quality of the game but fighting amongst ourselves over differing opinions on how a game should or shouldn’t be isn’t going to accomplish anything.

This. What we see here is what happens when people feel entitled to something meant to be just fun. I suggest people re-evaluate their priorities.

That was a bit backhanded and isn’t helping settle things down.

The problem right now is that if they do release it now, it will just look like they buckled under all the rage. Which basically makes it look like if someone rages enough, ArenaNet will add it in.

Which might very well open the floodgates with people raging about Mounts, Duels, Raids, Trinity, VIP and so on.

I wouldn’t call it raging so much as mass disappointment.

And if they were to release it in a couple days it would make US look like a bunch of jerks because they added in the minis and we all lost our minds instead of getting the hint and waiting patiently.

Guys, maybe I am pointing out the obvious here. SAB comes around in April usually and right before they bring it out they release minis and small hints. You guys should go to the page that introduces the flying quaggan mail service and scroll all the way down and read. That is all.

I don’t get it.

Anyway, do you guys think there is a valid reason they won’t bring it back? It wouldn’t have hurt anyone to have it available this April Fools.

I don’t think they need reasons, they seem to be in tunnel vision mode since the release of this game. GvG CDI? New dungeons? New player’s experience? Trait system?

It’s unbelievable that a Guild Wars game still doesn’t have GvG, and the stuff they made instead, like SAB, was removed!

I noticed the lack of GvG. If I didn’t know any better I never would have guessed the game has been out as long as it has. I definitely got my 15 dollars out of it, but man I’d be upset if I got the game at launch. But I’m getting off topic.

You know, maybe they’ll release it after they patch out the April Fool’s joke? Maybe they just didn’t want the two to conflict and have airplanes ruin the immersion.

-nod nod-

I hope… The April fools prank was funny but I really want to see SAB back again… We’ve been waiting too long.

I actually bought GW2 during the last sale hoping that the “retro dungeon thing” I saw was a permanent thing. I was really disappointed until my buddy said he watched an Angry Joe interview with anet where they claimed “Players won’t have to wait much longer(for the super adventure box)”. I figured I would bide my time until April Fools, but instead of SAB we got airplane mode that I couldn’t even turn off. I ended up playing for all of 5 minutes yesterday. It’s cute for a couple minutes but got old really fast.

If your friend was referring to the Angry Joe interview from a month ago, not so. It was the basic answer that’s been said for half a year “We’ll release it when we feel it’s the right time”.

Well I’ve been bamboozled.
