Dollison – 80 Thief (Sanctum of Rall)
Feel free to say hello in game!
kittenin condi-bunker Engis man. Best I can hope to do is annoy them enough so that they’ll chase me off point (PvP) and then run away.

Gah! Silly me. I’ll only fight people if they’re on the points now. I’ll just /afk if someone decides to range me outside the rings.
Played my thief in spvp tonight. I was wrecking this necro, but he feared me and started to run. I pursued relentlessly (as any good thief would). Ended up killing him. But then the Necro got mad saying, “Chase more bro.” So… I guess I’ll just stand in one spot as soon as the match starts from now on… I don’t understand the logic…
P/D perplex with the new trickery grandmaster trait is stupidly OP. I tried it out, it’s easy mode game
Sacrificing the 6 part of the rune set while simultaneously sacrificing an instant interrupt only to generate the same amount of confuse stacks is really foolish.
It’s a trade off – With sleight of hand the confusion is not guaranteed but the interrupt to trigger perplexity is easier to pull off
With bewildering ambush the confusion is guaranteed, but triggering perplex is harder to pull off with basilisk or d/p headshotting. I’ve stacked bewildering ambush + throw gunk + perplex (4) and (6) to get 18 stacks of confusion
At that same time, I’m sure all the planets in our solar system would align.
^
I lol IRL.
I feel like it’s odd that you haven’t seen another thief when you play. I am usually one of at least two or three thieves almost every time I spvp. Honestly I feel like thieves are in a pretty good spot. I’ve been playing a rather unconventional s/d SB build and I consistently finish top three if not number one in the matches.
Until you put Lich runes on someday…
I’m depressed. I loved my burning/chilling build with Runes of the Elementalist boosting the duration of Dhummfire, along with Axe/Focus for chilling. Now I have to change both my build and my runes.
^
This. Minus ele runes.
So. Anybody else depressed?
Hey there Hollts. I personally prefer to use focus over dagger. Focus 4 provides solid damage, vuln, AND regen. Focus 5 is a great boon strip / CC to open with or to use when your opponent decides they’ve had enough and tries to run. Dagger 4 is a great condi clear / blind, but I replace that with Plague Signet for the clear (no blind, but meh). Never really cared much for Dagger 5. Maybe it’s just me.
However, take into account that you will look WAY cooler dual wielding daggers. Always a factor in choosing.
Although commendable that you came up with an original build, this build is horribly optimized.
Target the Weak and Strength of Undeath are decent traits for a power build, but since you are running a condition set up, there is no reason to take these over something like Lingering Curse or Withering Precision (Curses XI, XII)
Signet of Vampirism is pretty much the worst heal you could take on a necromancer as well, with Consume Conditions being superior in almost every situation (even when traited for signets)
Staff Mastery is an OK choice, but again, you’d be better off putting this into Curses or Spite (taking your two minor GM traits and staff mastery and putting those points for the extra condi duration and dhuumfire in spite)
Hey guys! First of all, thanks for stopping by and leaving your two cents. It is very much appreciated. Now, the reason I did not choose anything that has to do with “on crit” effects, is because my crit chance is a whopping 16% in this build. My whole idea was to pretty much run into a large group of people (in sPvP mind you), and essentially face tank everything while putting out a lot of conditions. Then use my DS and Plague Form as defense and to put some pressure on the other team while my team finishes them off. I will be the first to tell you that the build does NOT excel in 1v1 situations.
I do sincerely miss my Consume Conditions, but when you’re getting hit a lot, Vamp Signet really isn’t THAT bad. I will admit that I didn’t realize Target the Weak is more of a power build trait, so maybe I’ll swap that one out for Master of Terror to help my Fear damage.
Thanks again you guys!
Hello Necro friends!
First and foremost, I want to say that I am a VERY casual GW2er. I have only used this build as a hotjoin hero (sPvP) and haven’t tested it in other aspects of the game. Also I want to say that this build is not the be-all end-all build, but I have personally been having a ton of fun with it (when I have a good team that is). So without further ado:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;044Z;1o2WF0r33JkJ0;9;49O9-O3;038-4;319-UNk6;2gk1Agk1A1Ff
Now, I have had really good games, and really bad games with the build. I tend to have better games when I am with another teammate or two, but who doesn’t. You can swap Epidemic for Corrupt Boon if you’re noticing that the opposition has a lot of boon-heavy classes (Guard, Mes, Engi). But half the fun of the build is popping SoS, Epidemic, Dropping your staff AoEs, DS AoE’s then Plaguing an enemy zerg. I chose Sig of Vampirism for my heal because the whole idea of the build is to run into the middle of the crowd and get nasty. Plague Signet is also really nice support and very confusing to any enemy condi build that shoots their wad in your face, but doesn’t expect you to be wearing protection. Not to mention its a stun-break (I know, I know, my only one). Plague Sig, Dagger 4, and Staff 4 are all condi clears and they seem to work out just fine.
Maybe this build has been posted before, I dunno. But if it hasn’t, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
tl;dr
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;044Z;1o2WF0r33JkJ0;9;49O9-O3;038-4;319-UNk6;2gk1Agk1A1Ff
Swap Epi for Corrupt Boon if you want.
Tear it apart.
Well one thing for sure, bind your keys. No matter what you play clicking is slower than having keybinds but if you play wellmancer then its extra slow cause you not only need to click the skill but you need to drag the well over the screen to your target location.
Nah Bro. Wells cast where you stand unless you trait otherwise. But yeah keybinds will definitely help in the killing department.
I’m thinking Debilitating Dissipation should be swapped out for Illusionary Defense. No point in putting condi’s on if your CD is only 179
^.^
Otherwise GG. Trying the build out tonight for myself.
Nice! Steal away! Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery amirite? Glad we got this figured out
I do remember being grouped with some other Engi’s last night, however they weren’t specifically my friend. Yes the Engineer I fought against was using bombs and dodging everywhere leaving trails of mines(?) or something.
Hey there Ameno, I play a Guardian named Brenn Ildereen. I had an encounter with a bunker engi last night on Legacy of the Foefire. It was just the two of us on the map, or there may have been one more person but they never joined the fight. It lasted a very decent amount of time, both of us going back and forth between having the upper hand before I finally was able to end it. It really was a great fight and I made mention of the fact that I wished someone had been recording it XD.
I am running 3x Meditation build, with a few modifications to the traits (not 10/30/30/0/0, I don’t even know what that meditation build would look like?). I typically run with a Soldier’s Ammy for the defense and Runes of the Pack to supplement my offense. GS – S/F are the weapon sets. Focus 4 has a beam of light that shoots out and could be mistaken for a scepter. Anyway If you are the Engi I fought, many props to you and I hope we indeed meet in the ring again. And if you’re not, then I just typed this out for nothing and am an idiot!
GLHF Regardless.
Listen. I really like it. I feel like it could be a very dangerous bursty build. Only downside is no stunbreakers and I personally would use rabid ammy instead of settler’s. Glad to see a venom build that’s actually running CondDamage. Nice
Interesting build but… why three sigs? For the passives I guess?
Tried this build: http://www.intothemists.com/calc/index.php?build=-cR3V;1Rw-d07-7PFd0;9;4T-T-937B;148A;12;0FJk6;2jwmAjwmA3Nh
today in PvP. Into the mists didn’t have an option for the Settler’s necklace so I had to go Cleric in the builder. It’s probably not polished completely, but I was pretty satisfied with the results. /shrug. I feel like it’s a viable condi build for sure, in case you were interested.
when you guys say condi build is the best, do you mean in tpvp or wvw ? and which build do you mean ? hambow ?
I play a Hambow condi build in WvW that has really worked out very well for me when roaming. ^.^
Yishis is literally the reason I started my Thief. Any time I get discouraged about how bad I am at my thief, I watch his videos and they immediately inspire me. Keep up the good work Yishis. You truly are the ray of hope in these dark times.
Hey guys! I have been playing my warrior for awhile now and I’m really loving it. I have jumped between the meta condi build (S/S – LB) and various other power builds too. My biggest problem is that I don’t like playing the same cookie cutter build as everyone else. So I decided to post my build because I don’t mind playing the same build as everyone else, if the build is my own! The result is the patent pending Fällon Fenix’s, “Thursday Night is College Night,” Build!!
Some of you may be wondering what the kitten I’m talking about as far as the name of the build goes. Well, if you don’t know, Thursday Night in a college town is usually party night! Much like on a typical (insert College Town) Thursday Night, opposition to this build will find themselves waking up Bleeding, Confused, Vulnerable, and Slow to Move (if able to move at all)! So without further ado, here it is!
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-sFFBC0-NKFM0a4gL-60;9;4J9J9946-2;018-0;02;0KJF44;1jwmAjwmA2Va
For those who cannot see this link (on your phones, still using windows 98, has dial-up, lazy) here it is:
Traits: 20(V, VII)/10(III)/20(II, IX)/10(I)/10(III)
Armor Runes: 6/6 Undead because I like to be Tough and this build won’t do any damage without condi stats.
Weapons: S(Sigil of Earth)/S(Accuracy) – M(Earth)/M(Accuracy)
Skills: Healing Signet, Bull’s Charge, Dolyak Signet, Berserker Stance, Signet of Rage
Now, this build fares very well 1v1, and can handle itself alright in a 1vX situation. The mobility and chasing aspect of the build is surprisingly strong with the combination of Bull’s Charge and Savage Leap as well as Warrior’s Sprint (Discipline 10(III)). When chasing, don’t feel shy about using Tremor on that kitten Elementalist that won’t kindly stop and let you beat on them.
Keep in mind though, that the only place I have tested this is in sPvP. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to bring my build to other aspects of the game (PvE, WvWvWvWvWetc.) and test them there for me because I am lazy (and my warrior is not quite level 80 yet).
Also feel free to critique and kitten on my build as much as you like! Thanks for reading everybody! I really hope you enjoy my patent pending Fällon Fenix’s, “Thursday Night is College Night,” Build!
Been playing the Condi Warrior build in the video for a few days now and I gotta say, it’s probably the most fun I’ve had on this game in awhile.
Well, our weapon skills are weaker on purpose since we can use kits (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-December-14-2012/999247). Something that doesn’t even make sense, imho, since it is a forced penalty for something optional.
So, just a thought that may or may not have been brought up already. What if we had the choice of being able to weapon swap between pistol/x and rifle OR having kits. Give us, I don’t know, a Swiss Army knife type “weapon” that we could equip in the second weapon slot that would open up kits to be used in the utility bar. The penalty for equipping said SAK type weapon being a decrease in weapon skill damage for our other weapons (p/x, and rifle). If the kits aren’t equipped, and you’re able to equip both weapon sets, it would remove the penalty. I dunno. Just spitballing here.
First of all, I just wanted to say that I really like your build. I’ve been dabbling with a 0/25/0/15/30 DS centered build with the same utilities as you. I would love to try your build, but I hate the staff so much. I have tried to like it, I really have, but I’m just so fail at laying the marks where they need to be. Now, I guess it may be a different case when facing a Zerg (just drop ’em in the middle and call it good), but is there an alternative weapon set that I could use in place of the staff with your build? Or am I just going to have to get over myself and learn to use the staff? Haha. Thanks in advance for any response! Good luck out there!
Hey guys! First of all, thanks for all the replies. Secondly, to clarify, I DID mean sword/pistol – sword/focus. Realizing that this severely limits my options when I proposed this set-up, I thought scepter would be a waste of time. That being said, I did get a chance to try this set out today (albeit in pvp) and my results were that I absolutely hated it.
Normally I play a GS – Sword/Sword mesmer. When I tried this out today, it made me think to myself – iWarden cannot be functioning properly. It seems like a completely wasted skill because of two things 1. The cast time on it and 2. The fact that iWarden is immobile. I think that if iWarden would at the VERY least walk, it would be better. But ideally, if the cast time were removed from him, I think it would fix the issue. Idk. Does anybody else think along these lines?I use to until I did a bit of out-of-the-box thinking. If you consider the iWarden only as an attack then yes, being immobile is very bad. On the other hand, if you think of it as a miniature Feedback on a timer, it opens up a lot more possibilities. When fighting ranged opponents that move constantly, it’s great to spawn the warden and then stand beside it while it’s twirling. This gives you a safe zone for a few seconds. Don’t forget that you can use Temporal Curtain to pull enemies into it. This is very easy to do because it’s stationary.
Hey! Thanks for the response. My whole thing about the iWarden is that it’s WAAAAY too easy to just completely waste a spell due to several things (dodges, blocks, simply strafing to the side a few steps). I like to think of iWarden as something like a Necromancer’s wells, (which are basically insta-cast at 1/4 second cast time), except it is cast on the target. I just really feel that if you have to TRAIT a phantasm in order for it to be even a little bit viable, (hiding behind it when fighting ranged characters), then it’s broken.
A Necromancer’s wells are nearly instant to cast and they do LOADS of damage. They have the same downfall as iWarden (can be avoided with dodges and simply changing your position). However, Wellomancers are completely viable because of the low cast time. I dunno. Something seems wrong with this spell to me. Just my two cents though.

So I was just wondering if anyone has tried this combination to any success. I’m away from my laptop but I’ve been thinking about trying it. I feel like this could really work as a bursty Phantasm / Shatter hybrid build. Just theorycrafting the rotation would be something like s/p —> 5, 4 --> swap —> s/f --> 4, 4, 5 (four twice to drop your opponent and have iWarden spawn on their head), then the standard 3, 3, 2, —> shatter. Rinse repeat. Idk. Just wanting to get some thoughts.
Very interesting stuff Taka, I had no idea that you could get the life siphon procs from Locust Swarm. I’ve just been using it as a swiftness buff because I’m bad. I definitely was able to test out the D/WH build today, and it was a lot more effective than the D/F build. Things just seem right, now that all my melee range skills are together and all my ranged skills are together.
I think I’m gonna stick with the 10 extra points in Blood Magic, just because I feel that the health siphoning from the wells helps quite a bit. I dunno. I’ll definitely play around with it a little more, and I’ll definitely try to work my build in to your guide. Thanks again for all the feedback everyone, great community!
Thanks for your feedback lettuce! You might be right about switching out the healing well for CConditions. As I played this build a little more today I noticed that I was essentially dominating myself when I fought mesmers that just stacked confusion. The condition removal would be a huge boon, and I thank you for the suggestion. I don’t really find myself standing in the healing well very often to take advantage of the regen ticks anyway.
I am embarrased to admit that I didn’t know that two “on weapon switch” runes would not work together. Should have thought about the GCD on these things. I’ll definitely try out your suggested runes and see how that goes.
I like the idea of D/WH too. Makes much more sense. I found that I really only switched to Axe/WH when I was running somewhere and needed to get there faster :P
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the build! Good luck out there.
Well as far as the life blasts go, I usually get one or two off. Really when I do use that skill, it’s just to get one or two stacks before I know it’s time to use DS4 or before I’m knocked out of DS completely. The trait you’ve suggested would probably work better, as this build definitely has room for tweaking.
Really my strategy involves opening with Dagger 3 for the immob, drop both my damage wells, start in with the bread and butter (Dagger 1), then go from there. If my life force is pretty full, it’s always fun to jump down into a crowd on a capture point, blow my wells, DS4, then pop Lich and start blowing people away with that. The build’s survivability is pretty good, but again, it could probably be improved. Thanks for the bookmark! I hope you enjoy.
Hey all. I’m pretty new to the Necromancer class, I’ve been leveling a Thief and I got completely wrecked by a necromancer in sPvP the other day. I’m a pretty casual player, but I did some searching after this happened and I played around with some things. From what I’ve seen, this build is not really normal. It’s sort of a hybrid Well-o’-mancer / PowerNecro build. I know Life Steal isn’t what it should be, but I’ve incorporated it heavily into my build nonetheless.
Here’s the link: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;04c7-GK0IFJ0D4gJVJ0;9;4T9-T-05B4;317B;1JNk6W;1sV2DsV2D5BI
I hope it works, but just in case it doesn’t, I’m gonna break it down for you.
I’m 30(I, VI, XII)/10(V)/0/30(II, VIII, XII)/0. I use 6/6 Divinity Runes. I use a Berserker Amulet / Jewel (did i mention I main a Thief?) I primarily use Dagger/Dagger, though the build I’ve linked says D/Focus (I think this will be better in the long run), with Axe/WH in my second set. Anyway, I’ve been playing around with this build in sPvP and it’s been pretty successful. Any feedback (positive or negative) would be much appreciated! Thanks!
