Two possibilities come to mind for me:
Is your CPU hitting the correct clocks or is it sitting at some low idle clockspeed?
Does your computer use Optimus (where it switches between the integrated and dedicated GPUs depending on what’s happening)? If so, is it using the dedicated GPU or is it just running on integrated?
My Intel Turboboost finds it balance most of the time around 3.1/3.2 Ghz (while being used for 55% while playing)…however…
Wow! I was actually just checking this as I found another hidden question on the internet with the same problem. This seemed to have helped a bit! With a few lower (just a few) settings I seem to have 20 frames per second more!
Strange thing is tho, that when I log in the fps starts at like 50 and then drops to 40-35 a bit later. Still playable, but strange:) Thanks a lot at least! ^-^
That video is interesting, but it still doesn’t change the fact that I should have a decent FPS while it is almost never topping 20…
What can I do? I am desperate:(
This video helped me a lot.
Will check that this weekend when I have more time, I hope it helps!
However, I am still interested in knowing what kind of FPS my Laptop SHOULD run without problems.. So if anyone knows, let’s hear it!:)
Posting here to cover the two forums where players are most likely looking for information on this:
Guild Wars 2 currently is experiencing lag issues related to a DDOS attack. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience that our players are encountering.
For how long has this been going on? Just today or multiple days?
Hi there!
Even though there are not a lot of comment replies on topics like this here on the forums, I am still giving it a shot as this kind of bothers me.
So last year I bought an Asus GL552VW-CN104T Gaming Laptop. I saved a lot of money from my side job in my final year of high school to buy it so I could play games (on high settings, finally!) on the same laptop I would use for my study.
Last year I didn’t really notice much problems, but after a while I didn’t really have much time to play GW2 with friends moving to different games. Now after a year I have returned to play, but I noticed a lot of low framerates/lag and now I am wondering what the problem could be.
So my Laptop specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ (4 cores)
GPU: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (2 GB)
RAM: 16GB
1000GB HDD, 128GB SSD
I’ve tried the core-parking stuff, but all the cores are doing fine. While playing the game my CPU and RAM etc aren’t even being used for more than 55% either.
So here are some screenshots from In-Game settings and FPS

So what might be the problem? Is my laptop just not good enough? I am not that much of an expert, but it seems like it should run this game at least at a good 30fps in LA or something.
I really hope someone could help me out, as this takes a lot of fun out of playing this game to which I am so attached..
Cheers,
Djealo
EDIT: sometimes (the lowest amount of FPS, like 12 fps in Tarir) is while loading assets and such. Afterwards it climbs to 20-25 at its best.

Any results so far?
Great idea! Gives a bit more usefullnes to yourself other then allies.
Unpopular opinion here: I actually like underwater combat, especially on engineer. Why does everyone say that it needs rework and that the underwater gameplay in GW2 is bad?
The basics are decent… its the lack of build consideration thats the problem. Half the skills of every class doesn’t work underwater, and only the core (non-theme specific) traits do anything to enhance the skills that do work there. Since all the high level areas are at least 25-50% water by traversable volume, you’d think at least some plans were being made to give them the same build integration land based skills got.
But like a lot of high level content/areas, they’ve remained half finished since beta rushed to launch; just as Orr has several mechanical aspects of it in a perpetual unfinished state.
The engineers got a huge leg up, because the kits work almost identically underwater (Grenades however get huge usability buff from the working auto attack). The other classes however give up their traited weapons, projectile attacks have horrid damage, only spears have even a single good burst damage attack, they all have long cool downs, none of the underwater weapons synergize with utility skills at the level of land based ones, and only the Ele’s attunements give access to enough weapon skills to keep pressure and DPS up as a solo unit.
Game AI also has a bad habit of not understanding the 3rd axis, as they only approach up to the melee range of their attack, but the attacks themselves don’t always include the vertical element in its hit detection behavior (which is also an issue with player skills).
Like I said, the basic of it aren’t bad….. but the other mechanics don’t follow though to support it.
I get your point, thank you! Hopefully there will be a point with a big overhaul in the future. It feels like a missed opportunity for unique action gameplay.
Just finished my juggernaut on an asura. I have to say I wasn’t as disappointed as I feared, but the fact that footprints and armor effects disappear when using a kit (while it’s a core mechanic for engi) still bothers me.

They should simply replace the AI on the gyros with a cord or chain with a specific length (just to the limit of the AoE for gyros such as sneak and healing) that links the gyro and the scrapper together.
This way you can separate from the gyro AND move it around tactically, without depending on machine “thinking”.
Add a little inertia to the model and voilá, you have a way deeper and funnier gameplay for gyros, where positioning has value, rng is reduced and player’s choices matter.
Wow! This is the best idea I’ve seen so far and I can see it work. Gameplay will be so fun as well indeed.
kitten , almost done with my juggernaut. Hope at least the footprints will be integrated soon!
Used this in conquest tonight. Unkillable. Was even getting reactions from an opponent chronomancer that I was very annoying to play against haha!
I wouldn’tbrecommand scholar runes because of the big damage hits in HoT. I use some power/might duration runes myself.
Pls give us some updates about what you’re working on… we want something to keep our heads up or otherwise all the scrappers will fall into the domination of Mordremoth!
Altough I think gyros need some serious work, I like scrapper a lot. The first 2 days I was like mweh, but after a week I’m enjoying it. I play a bruiser build with hammer (awesome!) and flamethrower. The medic and bulwark are quite nice gyros as well and situationally the sneak gyro can be very useful. Traits are near-good, just needs a little tweaking. All and all a good elite if they make something special of the function gyro and other gyros.
Bit disappointed about the aa nerf, from 100 to 60 immediatly is pretty huge in my opinion.
I have a simple question – All of you seem able to make use of the function gyro, but for some reason I can’t. I’m not using a hammer, because I like being at range so I’ve stuck with my rifle, but since Scrapper gave me some more benefits than my old third tree, I’ve kept it, hell, I use the medical gyro over the healing turret.
Do I have to be wielding a hammer to use the function gyro? If that’s the case, they REALLY need to update the tooltip to state that.
Thinking about this, cast range should be 1200 instead of the current 700
You can right click in action cam to target.
Looking for this as well, looking for a supporty bruiser scrapper.
