I hope this happens and I hope the map comes back without any added gimmicks
I agree. No auto upgrade. No emergency waypoint. No emergency supply drop. No friggin annoying Tactivators. I hope they stick to the core WvW game and leave out this heart of thorns content that failed quite miserably.
+1 for the maps! +/- on how they react to the community asking for no gimmicks.
Alpine or Bust. I just viewed a big name YouTuber explaining how a few of the promises that sold HoT will no longer be released. As an avid WvW player since the beginning, I could care less about new legendaries or what not; but, as a customer of Anet, this is some detrimental news. The WvW community is dying off every day, and now the PvE community will be suffering the same fate. I’m no fan of making hasty decisions. I feel everything should be given thought and taken with a grain of salt; BUT, reverting back to Alpine could potentially funnel some more numbers back in for an attempt at keeping GW2 afloat until some major decisions are made for both the WvW and PvE community (Yes, We are two separate entities) . I truly hope this April update is what we have all been waiting for. If it isn’t; then it’s been real, it’s been fun, but recently it hasn’t been real fun.

What? No. Don’t want the supply to be gone? Don’t use it. It’s a gamble, not a participation trophy. Close this thread.
And here I thought we were making progress with WvW. I strongly believe Anet needs to implement polls before they go messing up the mechanics that break the mold from other MMO’s.
nn desert stuff. gimme my old bay back or riot
Go ahead and start your “riot”, you aint gettin those crappy old maps back!
Well, to each his own. The old maps were infinitely better for fighting/defending. But, that’s just my opinion,
5pm PST / 6pm PDT would be optimal. BUT, +1 for the feedback. 10pm for EST is late, but whatever. 2 steps forward with the awesome news!
Orpheal;
1)Eotm is fine where it is. No direct relation to the server score. Who is saying to remove it?
2) Bring the old maps back. Of course they should! It’s a numbers game, and with a map that clearly doesn’t work, the obvious choice is to bring the Alpine maps back until we can get some rotation of scenery that can supply enough interest to even enter the borderlands. As it stands, there is no significant interest on Desert. (EB is still the only map I have seen Q’d.)
3) I agree with you on this one as well. Divide the number of servers. And, yes; there is still such thing as server pride. It’s why most people in the lower tiers are still so motivated to keep playing even with the odds against them.
With dividing the number of servers, it allows a fresh start for most who are locked in to the lower tiers who don’t want to pay out of pocket to be in better odds. Server pride will be a clean slate once some new choices are made. People will rant and rave, but for the main end game focus of GW2, I think WvW truly needs some particular attention given to it.
4) Stability does indeed need to be fixed. (in my opinion.) I respect your emotionally charged answer, but lets face it; no one truly have the correct answer.
One small reply for the Alpine supporters, and one giant bump for the WvW community.
Gaile Gray,
consider this post as well.

Yes, friday resets would be a step in the right direction.
The fact that Anet chooses to use Reddit over the official forums because of the “complaining” proves to me that this is amateur hour, and that I will keep my wallet away from all of the poor decisions.
Buuuuummmmpppp.
I would love to see them listen to the community, but I won’t hold my breath.
We’re kitten doomed if he has a say with WvW.
Not too far behind you, unfortunately.
“We still intend to eventually bring back the Alpine Borderlands map, but it’s not as simple as just toggling it back on. We don’t have the tech for rotating between the two borderlands built yet, and the map itself required a significant amount of content updates to support all of the features that were added to WvW as part of the HoT update.”
This is not the right path. Don’t touch those sacred maps with that PvE crap.

uh oh… they are going to destroy the Alpine maps.
If I could travel back in time and slap myself for giving money to them on a bi weekly basis, I definitely would.
First thing go back to the old map while the team figures this out. Plug the hole that is bleeding wvw players away.
This will take some of the pressure off of the team and wvw players.
Then figure out a way to merge time zones if you want 24/7 wvw population balance (would love to see TC paired with Piken for instance ).
Trim back on the red rings of death a little…well ok maybe more than that. Its a bit out of hand.
“This” and giving siege a little more protection behind walls from zergs covers most issues wvw players have asked about.
This, This, This… A thousand times this!
I want to play more, but will not if the Borderlands are impossible to traverse.
We want these maps UNTOUCHED, Anet. I can almost assume that the devs are adding all of the gimmicks from the desert maps into the alpine maps.
With this screenshot alone, you can see how the top 5 posts were about WvW.
I’m no expert, but typically that’ll mean something is wrong.
All we are asking for is one dev to come in and tell us what is in the works.
Status updates, ideas, give us something to have hope for. Our hard earned money has been given to you, so please give us something in return.

We’re just farts in the wind to them.
-begin rant- This is the number one reason why I haven’t bought in to HoT. Why should I give my hard earned money to a company that doesn’t care about the playerbase that remained constant for so long? -end rant-
Anet should look at the top WvW guilds from each server, and invite those guilds. Maybe even the top 2 or 3. WvW people need to have their input, and the PvE crowd (most of which don’t like PvP so they don’t WvW) should be minimized.
I agree with you. Let the PvE player base test out the new functions for PvE. I wouldn’t test out their maps for them, so I would love the same respect in return. It’s called ‘Stay in your lane’.
Please ditch the EOTM map style. Something Alpine-esque was tride and tested. Leave all the new fancy mechanics for the PvE content; It’s good, but in my humble opinion, Anet, it holds no place in WvW.

Does any single dev or forum moderator or a single person on ANET’s staff just wanna drop in and say hello?
Thanks-

A friendly bump; and what they said. ^
Anet needs to bring back the old maps. WvW reset nights used to be amazing way to band together with a few drinks and teamspeak, but no more. Map hopping used to be a fun way to cause havoc in all of the borderland maps, but no more. No more commander call outs or map queses on any of the borderlands. WvW is dead (even in t1). Anet “fixed” what wasn’t even broken; and now it’s destroyed.
It’s the eerie sound of silence from what used to be why I played the game.
One amazing golem rush at Hills. Going through some old pictures with the old Borderlands makes me yearn for the old maps.. I regret to this day that I didn’t sit on the docks at the bay, watching the tide roll away…
Sign me up. I’m done with this game unless the WvW community is heard.

Now now, before the barrage of this and that, I just want to be on record to say…
I am ready to be a filthy casual.
Gvg scene = complete
Zerg busting scene = complete
Havoc scene = complete
caring scene = complete
I think I can speak for a few others when I say I just want to get online at anytime and join an omniblob of epicness. (And do not say; “Well then, Edge of the Mists!”… that is a NOGO for obvious reasons.

This time last year, I loved logging in and running around seeing the same guilds and the same people, it gave the server life and meaning. At one point I wanted to transfer to Tarnished Coast solely because their population was so friendly and very helpful. Now, let’s fast forward to the present. Everything feels so synthetic; whereas before the megaserver, everything felt natural. With the exception of WvW, it truly feels the only people you will be bonding with is your current guild/friends.
Do not get me wrong, this is not a complaint. Anet probably gets tired of hearing stuff like this. This is simply feedback.
A solution would be to revert servers back to the way they were, and create new servers that are megaservers.
to the 3 BRL guys from DH who chased around the map for an hour….why are you so tunnel-visioned o.O
Good job not actually catching me either…you should be doing something more productive, you think?
This is not a bragging statement by any means; but 3 guys chasing you for an hour is the least of our worries when it comes to not being productive. After all, they kept you out of the fight for an hour simply by running away, right?
