WvW is failing because Anet isnt fixing the issues it needs to be fixing.

whats wrong atm:
Areas are to small and the landscape is to flat. This gives hardly room for smaller groups or solo players to roam.
This forces players to run with the zergs even if they dont like it. What GW2 will end up with is players who love to zerg. The rest will drop out.

que times:
enough said about it. HUGE issue.

Keeps:
Keeps in GW2 are good for attackers and bad for defenders. AoE can be placed on walls way to easy and reach areas they shouldnt reach. No save spots at all so why defend. Only numbers (read zerg) can help you win.

Ranks:
totaly silly. Being from DAoC i know what ranks can do. And these rewards are a joke. to be hit less hard by guards who are a joke alrdy is silly. Most rewards are for zerg players only.

Anet said this game would be a pvp/rvr game with also pve.
In my book its a pve game with some pvp and far far far far far away there is a thing that with the lights of looks like rvr.

Most of my guildies and in game friends alrdy left gw2 by now. Myself i log in…see whats wvw about. If long que or nighttrain is there again i log off and try again in a few days.

GW2 still got potential….but needs to focus on wvw more

Lorn i can react on this since i did DAoC from start and even play it sometimes.

DAoC had a good rvr (wvw) system and still got it. Indeed they messed it up with ToA and more with New frontiers but they fixed most bad stuff from it. Even the kitten they did on DF.
The realm ranks wernt in from start but also entered after a while…few months so thats the same.

What i dont understand so far in GW2 is the following…..
How can a game like DAoC thats been released in 2001 since day one host over 1000 players in rvr (wvw) without lag (unless with the relic raid where more then 2000 players went in) and GW2 have so many restrictions.

Even now on primetime weekends there are epic lag free battles in DAoC with way more then 1000 players in the zone.

What GW2 should do….
Copy battlegrounds from DAoC like thidranki.
Copy keeps from DAoC. ….keeps and towers here are a joke to defend. Guard we all laugh at. Guards in DAoC kick your behind….Hard!
Give nice wvw rank abilities. Who cares that you can carry more wood for upgrades?

and my dream…
Create DF in this game. Dont try to improve it because its alrdy perfect. Copy paste and we happy. Man my infiltrator loved that place…and my scout does now.

WvW Cries:
When a keep falls (not towers) there should be a message going over all servers (PVE and PVP) what side took it.
“THE FORCES OF SEAFERERS REST TOOK STONE MIST CASTLE”
By doing this there will be a connection between the pve players and pvp players. You will see “ Wooooot” and “ GJ guys well done” be cheered all over.
Server pride will be boosted. Players who never been in WvW might think….hmmm I want to see what that is.

In the battlefield it would be nice to see a message who killed who. (Option that can be turned off).
“Spreukje got killed by Hammertime” The message will get the color of the victor’s side.
This will add to the fame of players.

WvW queue:
When people sign up they should not only see that they are in a queue, but also how long the average waiting time is.
Still entering WvW is bugged. We tested it some nights and found out that signing up in the LA portals gets you in way faster than signing in using B window anywhere else in the game. The difference at prime time is like 30 minutes to an hour.

People who go link dead should be placed back into the fight if they relog within 5 minutes. Nothing is more frustrating than going LD and have to queue up for 30 minutes again. Easy to fix. Shame they only did it for Fractals. PVE minded DEV team?

Guild Pride:
We should have real cloaks. There don’t have to be stats on it, just let people put the guild colors on it. Its good advertising for the guild. Also if a guild claims a tower or keep this should be broadcasted. Towers only in WvW. Keep claims also in rest of server. Just the own server this time.
“OSC CLAIMED STONE MIST CASTLE”
This way, guilds that are more active and claim get a nice reputation.

Stats:
The GW2 Site should have a WvW section.
There we should be able to find different things.
List of server of the past week. Now we can read winners of Decembers….its January atm and another year. This should be more updated.

Also players listings. By server, and by all servers.
Who made most points in total last week?
Who made most points by class last week?
Do a top 25 list or so. And make a personal page people can visit. I can go to the page of that thieve who killed me. I don’t want to see his gear. I want to see his records and pay my respect….maybe.
Also make a total list for the total time in GW2. So not just last week.

Loot/Gold drop:
Loot drop should be increased. Specially badges and such. Maybe ad a bonus for each hour you have played in WvW per day.
The cash rewards are a joke. In PVE people can earn tons of gold by farming the same dungeons. And in WvW you get a few silver for taking the biggest keep after a 1 hour fight vs 100 enemies.
Don’t get me wrong….I don’t want to be a millionaire. But we also get much more repairing to do the PVE players.
Suggestion:
Supply camp = 5 silvers
Tower = 10 silvers
Keep = 1 gold
SM upgraded 2 gold
Maybe also a reward for killing a player. 10 coppers or so.

Map:
Make a map that I can few from PVE (when I log in) where players can see the status of the server. Then I can decide what area I want to sign up for.

WvW and what they could do part 1

First sorry for my English. I try to do my best but it isn’t my main lang.

I think WvW could use a kick in the behind. It is fun now but could be a lot better. I played DAoC for ten years, and know the DEV team is looking at that game a lot to make stuff better.
A lot of my suggestions come from that game, and the rest comes from a personal idea how server vs server should be.

WvW Gear:
They should put the vendors you find in the mist in every WvW zone also. Just don’t make it free but charge a good amount of Karma for it.
At least make it so that with Karma people can earn Real WvW gear and not the (in my opinion) pve sets you find all over. WvW gear should only be possible to earn by doing WvW. So can only be bought by the karma you earn there.
WvW players don’t like to be forced into PVE to earn stuff for WvW.

Ranks:
Ad nice WvW ranks. The more karma you earn the better rank you get. And it shows. Before your name your name it should show your rank then.
This full name should be shown also to enemies. In that way people can build own fame.
For example it could be show over your head: Myrmidon Spreukje,
Myrmidon would be the rank title then.
Rank 1 you get at 50k karma earned.
Rank 2 at 100k
Rank 3 at 300k
Etc etc

Keeps:
Keeps should be real keeps. At this moment attackers get it too easy to clear walls from outside. We always line up 5 Elementalist and with 9 AoE I dare any enemy to stand on the wall.
If they are lucky they can stand fast at the edge and put one spell out, but that’s it. They pay with their lives.
On the walls there should be spots you can hide behind where AoE targets can’t get to. Just like with the real thing. Maybe AoE targets placed on top of a wall get a reducing in damage. 50% reduction would be fair.

Using Siege on a wall should take a lot longer to bring that piece down then when used on a gate.

Guards of a keep should be real guards. And when upgraded turn into half monsters that can real help defenders. Now they are decoration. Ad guard mages that can do massive AoE. Ad medics that res players even under attack.
One guard should be able to kill 4 players easy. Towers will be harder to take down…but also easier to defend.
Maybe for each tower owned by your side all guards in your keeps get stronger.

Make Guards also patrol outside in small numbers.

All enemies inside a keep should be removed from the keep after 5 minutes when the keep is fallen. This last until the outer wall/ gate is breached the first time.
Mesmer portals can’t be used in keeps you don’t own.
