“I don’t play X any more” does not mean death. It means you choose to spend your money elsewhere. How many MMOs have actually shut down all their servers and closed up within six months of release? A year?
APB is the only one I know of (All Points Bulletin)… A GTA style MMO. Shut down within 3 months lol
Hmm didn’t know that. I downloaded APB on steam (free to play) probably 6 months ago. Really good game.

I’d say pretty much every MMO besides WoW is dead. I don’t know anyone that still plays AoC, Rift, Aion, Tera, SWTOR, etc. I’m guessing the same will be true for GW2 soon.
GW2 will die off just like all the other MMOs that aren’t WoW
Finished my first 80 today. Took a look at my options to gear up, but realized there isn’t really any reason upgrade. There’s no progression, so I don’t need better gear for any content. Any gear in the game is instantly accessible, so that takes the fun out of it. I’m not going to farm for hours just to make my char look different.
Don’t think I’ll last much longer in this game. PvP is boring, Dungeons are boring, PvE progression doesn’t exist, a lack of trinity removes any need for coordination/socialization, and the combat system isn’t that great. It was worth the money for a couple weeks of mixing it up, but if this was a sub game I would definitely unsubscribe.
Right now I’m fighting some generic mobs with probably ~10k hp and it takes about 15-20 secs to kill them. There are plenty of stronger mobs with probably 50k or 100k+ hp (not group mobs) that take minutes to kill, for no reward. Yesterday I did a heart that required killing some cages underwater and it took at least 10 minutes of constant attacking to finish (at least one minute per cage, slowed down by their immunity to conditions). Again, these are things that can’t even fight back, so I go afk and auto attack them.
Maybe it has to do with being an elementalist? I have to gear toward survivability pretty heavily so I don’t die. I’ve heard of Thieves hitting pretty hard.
I feel like everything takes way too long to kill in this game. It’s not challenging, it’s excessive and boring. Many insignificant, standard mobs with no threatening abilities can take minutes to kill. I’ve had to resort to auto attacking some mobs to death while browsing on my second monitor because it’s tedious and boring. Even non-combat targets like cages can have a ridiculous amount of health. I really hope this gets fixed.
I generally sell everything I can on the TP, but after I get through maybe half of my items (~10 items), when it try to sell it says “error attempting to sell” so I have to wait a while before I can sell the rest. Is this a known error? Am I doing something wrong? It is a very consistent error, it pretty much always happens whenever I sell more than a few items at once.
0/10
I was having a good time yesterday leveling up by running dungeons. I bought all new gear and changed my traits to focus on dungeons. Today, I ran one dungeon and it was ruined. Changed my gear and traits, back to questing.
I feel like this is such a big mechanic that it couldn’t change, but why does revive exist? Why can we also run back to a boss fight after dying? It seems like the game is balanced around dying constantly.
In WoW, combat resurrection was one of the most powerful spells in the game, because bringing a dead ally back to life was that significant. Dying was the worst thing you could do, one too many deaths and the boss fight is lost. In GW2, it feels like death is expected. I can die and be brought back in under 5 seconds, or just go back to a WP and run back to the fight. Not only is it extremely hard to stay alive in the first place, but I don’t feel much obligation to stay alive because death is not a significant drawback.
Any thoughts on this mechanic? I’m guessing this was passed on from GW1, but I never played it. Am I missing something? I’ve only played the first lvl 30 dungeon.
CTRL+1,2,3,4. Problem solved. This game doesn’t require many binds at all, there’s plenty of keys available.
Depends on how much hp the mob has, but something like this:
(D/D)
Air: 3, 4, 5 // Jump in, launch foe, jump out
Earth: 3, 4 // Jump in, knock down
Fire: 3, 4, 5 // Jump through, finish with some damage
I was really bored playing staff ele, basically sitting in fire 90% of the time. Once I tried D/D it was amazing. So much mobility, and I can chain my skills together really well.
