I did look at your guild and you are right, you are giving the right vibe! But I think we are really looking for a guild that is primarily on Desolation.. that just makes the experience of meeting up/doing things together and obviously WvW a lot smoother.. sorry!

Hello everyone!

We are a couple from the Netherlands (Holland) consisting of a Guild Wars 2 veteran (DoubleR) (I have the title in game so I should be allowed to say it :P) and a new player (Skyggnir) that only recently started playing this amazing game and are now looking for a great (English speaking) guild on Desolation, EU to even further enhance the gaming experience!

Even though I am a veteran that joined the game right at launch, I think the last time I have played was in early 2013 so there is a lot I need to (re)learn and a lot has obviously changed. I have been playing the game however for the last 2 weeks and fell in love with it all over again.

The reason I rejoined Guild Wars 2 was not only because of the new expansion coming up but also because my girlfriend bought the game during the last 75% off sale and I really wanted to play Guild Wars 2 together with her. She now has a level 21 and level 11 character but is also enjoying it so much she wants to keep playing.

That is why we are now looking for a Guild to take our playing experience to the next step. We have obviously seen advertisements in game for multiple guilds, but were not sure if they would meet what we are looking for in a guild. The most important thing we are looking for is a (optionally 18+) friendly/social community where people actively talk (in English), have fun and enjoy playing the game together. We therefore prefer a casual over a hardcore guild. We currently are only playing PvE but might play some PvP and WvW in the future, although I think we will prefer the PvE. Therefore we are looking for a PvE guild with slight PvP/WvW aspects or just a PvX guild with a primary focus on PvE. Even though we are looking for a more casual/social guild, we would like it a lot if we could actually do things with the guild. Not only things like dungeons, big world events or having a “WvW night” for example, but also that me and my girlfriend (who is obviously still in the lower level zones) can have someone to level and enjoy the game with.

We do not really have a preference regarding guild size but from past experiences I think around 25-125 active members is sort of a sweet spot (but please feel free to correct me if I am wrong). I also really appreciate loyalty so I would not want to join a guild where you get kicked out if you are not active for a couple of weeks so that is why I am talking about 25-125 active members (which means there could be a lot more inactive members which I really do not mind). I also think it would be best if we joined a guild that is (primarily) on Desolation, that just makes things easier (but again please correct me if I am wrong :P).

Hopefully there is a guild out there (or you know a guild) that recognizes themselves in the description and would love us to join, because we would love to join a guild out there and I am sure that we would make a great addition to your social community.

Phase 1 was fun, Phase 2 ‘meh’ .. should have just opened the island that would have been enough! Phase 3.. frustrating

Normally I don’t want to add my reaction to a whole list of people that already responded, but in this case it’s different.
Why is it different? Because after all that happened yesterday, I had such a bad feeling and vibe towards this game, I came close to ‘just uninstalling’ it and never look back; I really had a bad feeling. It all went fine in the beginning, same overflow with lots of guildies.. started at the right time (9 PM Dutch time).

We went down the Karka hideout; no problems, but then we started to walk up (to the top towards the Rich ori vein), and I don’t know what happened or why it happened, and if it was either my pc or the game; but I started to have massive FPS drop/lag; and it never went back to normal anymore. One moment I was standing up with full health, next moment I was ‘defeated’ (totally missing the downed stated). But I thought it’s a one time only event, I just want to say that I have “been there”.

Sadly though.. after going up the ‘karka spiral ’, the event wasn’t done.. and my performance went downhill even further.
All I can say from the next few events (the three, ‘plugging’ those springs, the terrible terrible reinforcements, the rockslide), that although it did feel like something epic, and a huge fight, it not only took way too long.. but for people with older pc’s it just became unplayable.

I actually made the screenshot below, because I wanted to remember my graphic settings for later (I was turning it all down to maybe win some performance). But as you can see, I had 6 FPS.. and that was one of the better moments.. I was going between 2 and 7.

I think this screenshot was taken during the first reinforcements, but right at the start of the second reinforcements my pc just gave up (for the first time). The game stood still, I couldn’t alt tab out.. or ctrl+alt+delte or anything.. It just broke.. I used this moment to, just by pressing the off button on my pc, take a small break to cool off.. because at that moment it just wasn’t fun anymore.. it should have just stopped at that spiral to be honest.

After 10-15 minutes, being cooled off a bit, I started to get motivated to just wanting to see the end. So I log back in, meet up with my guild party in the same overflow I was on, what do I see when I log on, to my astonishment, the second reinforcements phase (where I crashed at the start) was still going on! I got new motivation because I didn’t miss anything, although my FPS were still below 9; I had the feeling I could make it.

And then the worse thing that could happen, happened, during the next event (if I remember correctly it was about toxic gases that needed to be destroyed), my FPS went back to 2-3 (in hindsight obvious if I remember what happened shortly after).. At that moment I just felt like giving up again.. It was just too frustrating..
After this it all went fast.. the toxic thingies start to get destroyed.. and guildies/local chat start to talk about stuff that is being looted (on overflows that are already finished with the event) from the chest in the end; rares, exotics even precursors are getting linked in chat!
I remember what I’m doing it for again, the prize in the end! A chance on getting my own hands finally on a precursor!

But right at the moment where I get my motivation again, at the moment we are at 4/12 regarding completing that toxic gases event.. the same thing happened as before; my pc just gave up.. my game stood still (and not just a lag spike because there I was still able to chat).. it just stood still.. and again.. alt tabbing didn’t work..

Now I start to get frustrated for a different reason; what If I miss the prize, what if the event finishes while i’m rebooting! So I hard reboot my pc again (second time just because of this event), I boot back up.. and what happens? I can’t get back in anymore! Not because my pc would’t boot, but because your log in server went down! I kept getting that same error message over and over again.. and after trying for half an hour just to get back into the game (like launch all over again).. just because of that stupid chest in the end.. I finally give up and go to bed..

In recap: started at 9, gave up close to midnight (3 hours later).. and what did I get in the end; frustration, a bad feeling about the game and the urge to write what happened last night so that you guys can remember that when you do events like this.. think about the people that are closer to the minimum requirements to the game.. can they run it? .. and the worst part is.. I didn’t even get my prize I like what you guys are doing, and how you’re adding new stuff (and cool big boss fights like this one).. but this gave so much frustration last night, that I don’t think I ever want to attend these ‘one time only big events’ again; just not worth it.
