Super great look! Pistols are awesome, color is fantastic, armor scheme is original: 8.75/10

….forgot the pants but eh, you can’t really see them
Aetherblade or pirate boots…forgot again

Apricot dyes for the metal
Mocha and a lighter brown for the leather

I don’t get hit enough.

I’m not sure I understand your build. On one hand you don’t get hit enough to need a stun breaker but on the other hand you get downed enough that you need back fighting. Something seems out of place there.

Edit: I also see you said you don’t use steal. Why??? It is easy way to get into stealth in combo with CnD.

Lol! I don’t NEED it. I am saying that it has helped me whenever I get downed. Rally is a powerful thing if you know what you are doing. Besides, you don’t lose until you are defeated.

As for my trait choices, I hate venoms so I am not planning on using IV, V and VIII. I don’t use steal because I just don’t like it so III and VII are out of the question. II is gone too because of traps. So all I am left with is I, VI, IX and X.

If I was going to using steal, though, I would definitely choose Improvisation and Mug. The benefits from those two outweigh the 50% of extra damage I deal in the downed state or pretty much every other trait available.

EDIT: A tactic I use in fights against more skilled players is when my opponent and I are low on HP I let them down me so I can hit them a few times with my downed attack and rally. Afterwards, I proceed to kill them. It works.

You don’t like venoms, traps, or stealing and you use a pistol? So, you are playing engineer then?

Ok, so best I can tell is that the condition is not really “burning”, it’s labeled as “burning pitch” (thanks Anet).

This may be why HiS can’t remove it, it’s not “burning”…

Please take the second screenshot directly after the Hide in Shadows skill has been used. It would be helpful to see that the skill is on cooldown and that you are in stealth from it (implying that the rest of the skills activations are working)

In the second picture of the first set of pics I posted at the start of the thread, HiS in on cooldown, stealth and regen are activated, I’m not in the fire and still burning.

I’ll try to take more pics later of this. I’m at work now.

Attached are some pics of me fighting the instigator by driftwood this morning. Hide in Shadows doesn’t seem to be removing any amount of burning on me. First pic is before activating hide in shadows. Second is after. I’m not standing in the fire during the second pic and I’ve done this running completely out of the fight and casting HiS. Still not removing any burning.

a build from CosmicCheese that I recently adopted and am loving. Instead of GS I use Sword/Dagger. I also used a little more condition dmg/healing gear. But I also works well with Sentinel gear. If you want to go pure melee, there is also no problem taking out SB for GS or Sword/Torch or w/e melee set you want.

Something like that, can’t remember exactly. I have over 1k cnd dmg though and barely 20k hp. The little investment in some shaman’s gear (which is cheap) is helpful. Basically, send your pet in then run in a load up conditions on your target. Switch toughness signet for a stun break and troll unguent for healing spring in dungeons. Plenty of evades and smart play will keep you and your pet very alive

I run the above for Wv3 and DEs. I Wv3 I do switch out the FT +15% dmg trait. This build has a decent amount of healing via backpack regen/vampire runes/blood sigil. Zerg or roam I rarely get downed. Also, napalm blast hit like a truck with the FT dmg trait…

For PVE/Dung go traps. They are effective with your weapon set. For Wv3 it depends on what you want to do, e.g. – be a part of a zerg or roam by yourself. The regen roaming build is popular now but you would have to drop at least one (ideally both) of your weapons for sword/dagger, sword/torch or axe/dagger. If you want to zerg, you can use the SB/GS (although longbow with the 1500 range would be better), just take the “arrows pierce” trait if you do shortbow and you’ll be good.

That scenario would require a specific weapon set and utility build. The ele’s requires just the weapon set and can be done quicker. Hell, switch to earth, cast earthquake, then arcane blast and tornado. Grant yourself vigor, 12 stacks of might for you and your friends, and burning bolts on everything around you. You even have two utilities still open for arcane power(to make everything you just did critical dmg) and whatever else you want…

You also get to kill the 50 mobs that are around you…

Regardless, I wasn’t trying to get into a pissing contest and I understand that every class has it’s own series of fields and finishers. I would just be better imo to make the engineers a little easier to fire off.

But, with all the combo fields dropping on the periphery of the battlefield (especially in WvW), I can understand the OP nature of my proposal.

Yet, as an elementalist you can roll with scepter/dagger and ring of fire, phoenix, dragon’s tooth and give 6 stacks of might to everyone in a 240 radius, 10 seconds of vigor to yourself, and do massive dmg. At least one of the grenades should be a blast finisher, imo

It seems like this should be. It would make Engineers more supportive from the back line during PVE and help during sPVP. But, literally no grenade in the grenade kit is a blast finisher…They explode right???
