The rev dream is real. You have filled my heart with joy.
Yes Rev and the other released elite specializations are playable. Any progress made on a beta character WILL NOT have any effect on your main account. So whatever gold or items you find will not be saved and the character + progress made will be deleted at release.
No let’s keep Warrior bad and a free kill for everyone in spvp and keep them the 2nd best roamer in wvw in the game.
@Jackalrat This isn’t spvp related gameplay but here is some more reaper gameplay using a might stacking build in AC story mode. my feelings about the greatsword are reaffirmed in it as well
Most of the references are for a friend but I hope you recognize a few of them
The power of windows movie maker and bandicam grants me the strength to upload some poorly edited Valkyrie Reaper game play!
In all honesty i didn’t have very much success with it but it was plenty of fun. I would like more necros to be bold and upload reaper game play of their own (keep the hype train going) so I will lead by example.
On a side note I am interested in someone who can mentor me in video editing so that I can produce something that looks a bit better than amateur content.
How do you actually hit people with the 3rd auto attack on gs?? No really this is an honest question I have yet to get any kills with the gs. :/
Turn on superspeed and run. Mesmer won’t catch you, thief might though
I read this and then I kittening died. Escaping the gank via superspeed is real. I even got away from a warrior if you can believe!
…snip
I don’t care about chill. Chill is fine for slowing enemies down once you reach them, but worthless for catching up to enemies that are already distant. And more importantly, chill does nothing to help you travel across the terrain, and Reapers need a better tool for traveling faster. Two different playstyles my friend. I don’t give a kitten about catching anyone, seeing as stealth allows many classes to reset anytime they want to anyways. I would much prefer those that stick around pay the price; retreat becomes much harder when you are perma chilled. If i cannot keep you fixated upon me when in a fight what is the use of catching you?
If for example I catch a mesmer, what does it matter when they can simply use decoy and vanish? without chill (or other movement detrimental condition) on them to keep them nearby they can move at regular speed away from you. I would prefer those that play with the bull, get the horns. In a perfect world we would have a bit of both, but with ANet’s record on necro’s I would settle for just being the immovable object at this point.
all classes have so many things to escape and we get our chill nerf dosn’t matter if we can chill them like 75% up time they can always escape
I may be different but I see it as, If you need to run away from me, I have already won!
I completely agree with you. As I necro I am used to being forced to take the mesmer/warrior/thief/ele/ and now rev gank from which I have no escape. If I can beat down the offending ganker and force them to run it is a much more satisfying than the usual “necros must stand and fight, and then die as they should” experience.
Thank you for sharing! I will go try it out right now!
I agree that the soul Reaping trait line is mandatory. What;s worse is that in RS you have to compete against guardians and warriors who not only have more damage reduction via armor than you but also have blocks and invulnerability. If GS wasn’t awful and chill hadn’t been nerfed into the ground I might be able to justify reaper in spvp.
@Frownyclown The heal only procs while in Reaper Shroud but 20 stacks of might would net you 20% of your life force bar. i just comfirmed this by using the shout around the AoE Golem testing in the mists. If only necro had acees to more boons while in reapershroud besides might and stability.
@Punahou This is a tanky outlast build taking advantage of the faster auto attack the reaper auto has into order to gain hp and stack might faster than the normal deathshroud. I personally hate how slow life blast takes to charge up and even if the inshroud lifeforce sustain is better.
@Sorem The post was too long so I deleted some important info kitten . Sorry! Soldier’s Amulet or maybe Knight’s? Condi burn melts me fast so the extra hp makes me feel better. Might or Hoelbrak Runes or Vampire Runes? Sigils of Water and Leech for more sustain. No doubt there are better choices.
After doing more testing I can’t say its better than a MM leech build. It is certainly more consistent than MM but the burning meta still melts me without d/d to put condi back on an enemy. MM has way more condi removal and better sustain as long as the minions are alive and attacking which is like 40% of the time.
Overall I am not as happy with the build as I thought I would be. RS autos don’t seem to hit harder than dagger autos and RS drains too fast by sacrificing the Soul Reaping trait line. Thanks for your feedback guys!
The reaper hype is real and to celebrate I give you an spvp reaper build!
Blood Reaper:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQBrAS8BrQ~ (traits)
Dagger + Focus OR Dagger + Dagger / Staff
1) Self Healing – The Core of the Build
Now let me explain. The two vampiric traits heal for around 70 hp on each hit. But as you know, where buffed to heal hp through shroud. When you auto attack you gain 1 stack of might. This pairs well with the “Blighter’s Boon” trait found at the end of the RS line giving you around 135 hp for each time you gain a boon (might from auto attack). There DOES NOT appear to be an internal cooldown with this trait which means that once you start whacking on someone below 50% you will be able to gain an extra 270 hp (on a 1s icn) along with your 205hp per auto while in RS. I will stick to single target here but against multiple enemies (like a MM) the self healing is substantial. I could add in the healing from Flesh Golem autos but I am bad at math so I if someone would like to feel free.
2) Heal and Utilites
Healing: The heal is up to you. I went with Well of Blood because of the aoe healing aspect and that I am usually defending a point. The only heal I wouldn’t recommend is Blood Fiend. Very low hp and an aware player will kill it in a couple of auto attacks. But his path finding seems to be better than most minions.
Utility 1: I chose the shout “You are all weaklings!”. This is your first stun breaker out of the three and should be used to enter reaper shroud at 50% life force or more. The stability will give you a small window of time to use your RS 3 for additional stability. But there are some other neat things about this skill. It gives 4 stacks of might per enemy hit so against a Mesmer or MM it’s an easy 20 stacks of might to jump start your burst of RS 4 + RS 5. Unfortunately you DO NOT gain more than 1 sec/stack of stability even if you hit all 5 possible targets. An alternative to this is Well of Power. Pulsing stability and condi removal is great and I highly recommend that you take it over the shout if you think you will face a condi heavy team.
Utility 2: I chose spectral armor. Your second stun breaker and should be used as soon as you start getting focused or you have less than 50% life force. Besides your dagger autos this skill (and U 3) are how you will generate life force quickly enough to switch to reaper and might stack/hp regen. However I suggest that you do not enter reaper untill after this skill duration is complete to ensure maximum lf gain.
Utility 3: I chose Spectral Walk. The final stun breaker and your second skill to quickly generate life force under duress. There are higher level play scenarios that this skill can be used in (running away from a point while being chased and then porting back or surviving fall damage) but those are beyond the scope of what its use is in this build.
Elite: Fleshy the Flesh Golem. Sometimes he attacks and sometimes he gets lost or chases Mesmer clones/phantasms/illusions around and becomes useless. But when he works he works well. Good auto damage and cripple application so you can chase people down. His active is a good opener so ideally you wait until you want to initiate a fight and then have him charge. Follow up with Dagger 3 and auto attacks. I considered the elite shout “Chilled to the bone!” but the cd is crazy long and the cast time makes it easy to interrupt/avoid.
3) Weapons and Sigils
Dagger: Provides the most consistent life force generation out of all the necromancer weapons with this this build’s trait set up. Focus offhand provides boon rip, regen, burst damage, vuln, and a good amount of life force. Dagger offhand gives you a blind, aoe weakness application, and condi removal. I prefer focus due to the life force generation and vuln stacking (important later).
Staff: Gives you consistent regen, life force from auto, and the ability to deny stomps/rezzes via staff 5 fear. More of a utility weapon so try to focus on dagger auto to build up life force more than anything.
4) Closing
Reaper is a good spec with lots of build options. I would like some feedback either constructive criticism or flames they both work for me. I may upload some gameplay to show how it plays.
Too slow for how hard it hits. Gravedigger is also very slow but the damage is pretty nice.
BUT…there is hope.
Reaper shroud is amazing. I’ve got a build where I can have a consistent 25 stacks of might and place around 18 stacks of vuln on an enemy/enemies if i’m cleaving.
Make it easy for yourselves and play dagger + focus and staff for the fast lifeforece generation and then switch to reaper shroud and do big damage.
Overall 7/10 greatsword needs some work
Warrior will be able to grow a third arm an triple wield 1 handed weapons like double shield 1 sword or triple axe.
Watching a twitch engi stream (Chaithh) who is using the mortal elite which is now a kit, I have a few questions.
Is there no cd on the mortar elite?
Will zerker engis be able to rain down explosive ordinance on mobs and WvW players alike by spamming 1?
Will a pve pug build based around spamming mortar skills and doing big dps be viable?
I hope so. Because zerker engi in spve is still trash.
The problem is that warriors have only one viable build in spvp (hambow). If there was a way I could go axe/mace or sword/sword and not get wrecked by the axis of evil (necro, mesmer, engi) I would. But seeing as how warriors have limited condi removal in spvp we don’t have a lot of options.
