…fanboys…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attitude_polarization

There’s your fanboys. The fun thing about confirmation bias is that it is not limited to people liking things, it applies equally to hating them. 95% of the time anyone using the term “Fanboy” un-ironically is just as neck deep in bias as the people they’re decrying, they’re just oblivious to it.

It’s the forum equivalent of two opposing groups shouting “NO U” at one another. Gripping stuff, really.

So you want me to bust out wiki links as well? Maybe link a straw man article? Good for you, you have a bachelors in psychology as well as I. Are my points invalid, because I feel that many players are so devoted to this game that they haven’t provided a good counter argument? That most counter points are silly excuses for a endgame. Many players that play MMORPGs for continuous progression. How many posts are there about this mentality is seen as broken, like the way we enjoy games is wrong? People arn’t posting here, because they want GW2 to fail. They are posting here, because they want something more and for the game to succeed.

Yes to someone who is actually biased you owned my argument, destroyed all my credibility, made all my points invalid. However in reality many posts about wanting an endgame and how there are numerous excuses for an “endgame” are still valid. What GW2 now has for a endgame is truley the end of a game.

O yea 95% of statistics are made up on the spot, your post is full of irony.

Yup I agree. Its funny how fanboys will post 10 stupid excuses for endgame like exploring, outrun a centaur, farming gold. Or they will say well that isn’t how gw2 endgame works, like GW2 has some revolutionary dynamic endgame ,yet no one can explain what it is. People say WoW heroics and raids are all about grinding. Well then what are legendary items? That is grinding to an extreme level. As least heroics and raids you progress with learning the fights and getting better gear one piece at a time. The mystic forge is a complete grinding trap.

Are MMO players trained to play for progression...

The problem with GW2 is their content isn’t as interesting as a single player RPG and the progression is not as good as many MMORPG’s. They are in the stuck in the middle of just mediocre. Dungeons aren’t that hard. Legendaries really have no purpose. A goal for hardcores, but they don’t have a use other than rolling over overplayed content. Many games have some type of progression to capture the investment of their player base. The only thing that keeps GW2 fun is SPvP and friends. I say the same thing about WoW, except I have played that for years and this game for a couple months. ArenaNet needs to improve progression or have better content. Maybe I just expected too much from this game.

LMAO Arenanet is so behind. Popular people make money off internet videos/streams. So pretty much Arenanet doesn’t want popular people making money, therefore they do not want free advertising. There is a reason games such as League of legends, minecraft, amnesia etc got even bigger. All the videos and streams of those games helped spread the word and promoted the game. I guess they want people to watch Mist of Pandaria, borderlands 2 and torchlight 2 videos instead. Maybe Arenanet will one day realize players who watch videos of the game they are playing become more invested. This seems like it would be a good thing for a f2p game. Or maybe Arenanet thinks their mmo is so revolutionary and innovative that other games can’t compete.

Do you think it would ever happen? I don’t see the problem with it. Being able to customize your looks always seems like a good idea.

That article was so self serving I was getting angry while reading it. I hope the devs don’t think that GW2 is so revolutionary, because it’s not. So many aspects of the game are similar to other games. The game still needs a lot of polishing both pvp and pve. The only things that sticks out are events and the combat.

However the re imaging of end game is you zerg or you run around in circle using range, because mobs just 1-3 shot you. I almost feel like if they kept the holy trinity they could have done a lot more with it. Well I guess they sort of still have the holy trinity, its just clunky as hell to be a healer.

Getting Glory Structured PvP Guide

in Players Helping Players

I think you get bonus glory based on a certain percent. It appears that the more glory you have to more bonus you get in the end. Again the main emphasis is put on getting glory. If you are doing your job and not getting glory then you are not being rewarded. I’m sure there are many players who score low on the boards, but impact the game in a significant way. The concept of the game isn’t that hard to learn, but they aren’t promoting good PvP. Certain actions aren’t being rewarded and others are rewarded too heavily.

Getting Glory Structured PvP Guide

Here is a guide on how to get glory points in structured PvP for new players.

What are glory points?
Glory points is a currency that can be used to buy cooler looking PvP equipment and unlock reward chests. The more glory points you have the higher rank you can get and the rewards are even better.

Getting glory points
Killing enemies, capturing points, landing hits with trebuchet, ending game bonuses (winning and being top player).

Okay now let’s cover the details

BE SELFISH, yes that is correct if you want a larger amount of points be selfish. Getting glory is about being a smart player.

Player Killing
When killing enemies do not go alone. It does not matter if you can down a player. If you do not finish them and there is no team follow up, you wasted your time. Follow your team so you can use them to soak up damage. You need around 4-5 hits on a target to get credit on a finish. If you see a downed player that you have not damaged yet, do NOT finish right away. If you do so you will not be rewarded. You must hit the downed player a few times before finishing to get points.

Capturing Points
At the start of the map go to the closest capture point, because that generally guarantees you 10 points. Whenever you capture a point LEAVE! Leave, because if you are just sitting there defending like a good player, you will not be rewarded. You will probably end up in a 1v1 soon to become a 1v2 to a 1v3 situation. Even if you win the 1v1 you probably did not end up finishing your enemy, you get nothing. People understand that defending is worthless due to the current game system’s way of awarding glory. For the most part people just leave after capture. This now allows you to recapture the point for even more points. Keep it mind its not about playing the game properly it’s about playing smart.

Combat
Stick with the team unless you find someone you can 1v1 and win. Killing a player and finishing them gives the most points at a relatively fast rate. Do the fighting when capturing is too far away, because that is where the points are. Do NOT bait the enemy team or stall the enemy team from doing objectives by sacrificing yourself. This is pointless, because you can be spending your time trying to get kills. Winning the game only rewards you with around 20 extra points. Losing the game gives you 10 extra points. Again if your enemy captures a location, this opens up an opportunity to recapture the point for more points.

Healing/Tanking/Support
You only get credit for dealing damage so no.

Important Notes
-You are not being rewarded for PvPing properly.
-Damage=success
-Capture and recapture=success
-Time is money (glory), don’t waste your time doing nothing
-Points are not based on a team effort or effort for that matter.

If there is anything that will be useful for new players that I should add please let me know and if I have gotten any of my information wrong. Thanks
