just a quick question a lot of people with ATI cards had problems fixed after installing 12.8 and the latest CAP did you install both of those?
I have tried both.
I’ve tried every solution suggested on the forums.
The youtube fix has worked one time.
Adobe flash player has some sort of affect on how GW2 works. I don’t care how, I just want it to work.
I understand your frustration, but it’s not worth giving up until you’ve tried everything. Have you:
Reformatted your hard drive?
Reinstalled windows with the latest service pack?
Not install any unnecessary background programs?
Download and install all the NEWest drivers for ALL of your hardware, including your bios, chipset, ethernet, usb, audio, and most importantly GPU?
Install GW2 fresh to the hard drive your OS is installed on?
Run GW2.exe as an administrator?
Changed graphic settings around in game and out of game in your GPU’s control panel?
Try all other available drivers for your video card?
Made sure this is an isolated occurrence, and all other programs/games run as expected?
Install and run an FPS/GPU/CPU monitoring tool, such as fraps/precision?Again, there’s only so many suggestions I can throw out without knowing your specs.
EDIT: sorry, I see you added more to your last post while I was typing this one.
All I’m getting at here is, ultimately, there’s no point in ‘demanding an ETA’, because the team working on these issues probably hasn’t found an exact solution yet. If you want to be more than disappointed, that’s up to you. I just wouldn’t let it ruin my day, considering this game has no subscription fee and you can always check on it in a few weeks.
I understand what you’re saying, but seeing as how it has worked for 2 weeks straight, probably means the problem is not with my rig.
As to being dissappointed, I paid extra to get to play in the beta events and stress tests, which I didn’t get to.
I was fine with that, as long as I would have been able to play with my friends come launch day.
The way I see it is – I paid extra money for a game that is broken. If they can’t even estimate when will they fix it, and if they don’t even bother responding here on the forums then I want nothing to do with them.
I have asked for a refund 3 times now. There is no reason I should go through 7 layers of hell to play a game. It is just a game, after all.
My specs:
I7-720QM.
ATI 5850M.
6 GB RAM DDR 3 1333MHZ.
I appriciate your help, but I don’t see eye to eye with you regarding the current situation.
First, it would help if you specifically mention whatever problem you feel is worth making such a hostile post about.
If it’s about framerate/performance/crashes,they’re not ignoring you. As the devs have said in earlier threads about these issues, the teams know about these and are working on fixes.
Whatever problem I was having is being worked on (low fps with a 680), because I’ve noticed with every recent patch, I get more stable fps. Still not optimal, but we’ll need a new Nvidia driver for that.
If you really want to help, expain exactly what problem you’re experiencing, post your specs and settings, submit 1 and only 1 ticket (you can update it), and bump your post occasionally. If your crashing, send the reports and record error numbers.
The team posting on the forum can only relay info between us and other teams, so if you’ve given them everything you possibly can, it’s just a matter of time before it’s fixed.
And again, instead of coming off as entitled and hostile, you could have been typing in great detail what you were experiencing, and devs or even other learned players may be able to help you. For example, I know for a fact running an antivirus/firewall program in the background can be a cause of crashing/poor performance, but many players don’t know this and end up in your situation.
I should have been more specific.
I’ve been having serious FPS issues during all of the beta events and stress tests. After a month long correspondence with the Anet support they were not able to figure out the problem.
When the game launched on the 25th the problem literraly solved itself. I could play with a steady 60 fps for about 2 weeks.
Ever since the patch they released last Friday things went back to the way they were during the stress tests.
I have lost my faith in their support team. I they didn’t bother helping me back then, I don’t think they’ll bother doing it now.
Back then many people besides me had this problme, now after the patch even more people are experiencing it.
I paid for a product that I can’t use. I’ve asked for a refund 3 times now, only to be answered by an automatic email AGAIN.
So as I have said, you can see where my fraustration comes from.
Don’t you think I have already tried posting my specs? I have tried every solution that comes to mind regarding this problem. Anet has replied to my tickets for over 7 times now, and every time they ask me to download another software that will tell them more about my system specs.
I have sent them: 2 DXdiag reports, 2 game advisor reports, 1 speccy report, countless pictures of my fps problems with SpeedFan running in the background to rule out the possibilty of my system overheating. Then, they asked me to download yet ANOTHER software called ‘Heaven’. I sent that report as well. Now, after the problems were back they told me to tweak my AMD control panel, which again, made no difference.
You tell me, after nearly 2 months of back and forth emails, should I just take it easy?
P.S
Sorry for my bad english.

That’s right.
Dozens of us are opening threads on a daily basis, only to see them being merged with other people experencing the same damnned problems.
Arena Net is repeatedly ignoring our emails and complaints on the forums. We have been put on hold until they are done dealing with a whole crapload of other problems.
In the meanwhile, a game we paid well over 50 euros (or 60$) is just taking space on our hard drives and we have nothing better to do but to watch the forums and try some voodoo fixes that may or may not work.
The sad thing is, it has been almost a week now since THEIR patch screwed up everything for us, and yet none of them took the time to respond to our plight.
I have sent them countless emails, only to be answered by some automatic email telling me I haven’t sent a game advisor report, altough I have sent a report, 2 of them actually.
I’m sure I speak on all of our behalf when I say WE DEMAND an ETA on a fix, and make it soon. We paid for something and got nothing in return.
And to the dear mods of this forum, please don’t merge this with another thread. You’re only making it worse for us.
I considered the possibility of the Youtube fix being a placebo effect last night.
Think about it. The fellow who posted it originally came up with it yesterday. We all had great success with better frame rates yesterday. If it can stop working, then it never actually worked at all; and I think this raises more questions then it answers.
I’m not at home now but I’ll see how I go when I get home. If I’m not receiving the consistent gameplay I had last night (I was actually getting 40+ FPS in medium>large events which has never happened since I got the game) I’m going to have to assume that the Youtube fix is bunkum.
This seems like it could had something to do with the time we all were on yesterday. There was possibly a decreased server load which allowed us all to run our games better, less players on etc. Either that or ArenaNet have actually been working on the problem and we just happened to think we had fixed it, when it was really them with their most recent hotpatch.
The good news for those of us who are struggling is that if it CAN run as well as it did yesterday then it eventually WILL.
I disagree. Now when I try to use the Youtube fix the game does work well, but for 60 seconds or so. You can acutally see my fps rising to 55-65, I can play normally and then out of nowhere it drops to below 10.
There are some serious issues going on with this game. I sent an email to Arena Net asking for a refund. I want nothing to do with this game anymore.
The Youtube fix has stopped working for me.
Now when I do it the FPS rises for about 60 seconds before dropping again.
You don’t need to search. Just go to any youtube video, right click on it and choose settings. Then make sure ’Enable hardware acceleration" is unchecked.
Read the first post in this thread.
You sir are a God!
You’ve solved what Anet hasn’t been able to solve in a month.
This only goes to show you the problem is with the game.
“We are currently looking into performance and low framerate issues that some players are experiencing despite having a system that exceeds the minimum requirements (http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1119). This is Anet’s response to a ticket I sent 2 days ago regarding low performance issues.
You are most definitely not the only one experiencing such problems.
As for a possible fix, I haven’t encountered in one yet. Wouldn’t get my hopes up for Anet to fix it anytime soon as well. I had these problems during the beta events, and it eventually solved itself when the game launched. The problems started after Friday’s patch.
Everyone in this thread is running very old hardware, including Nova. You cannot expect to run modern games well on 5 year old processors and 4+ year old video cards.
If it meets or passes minimum requirements your claim is invalid.
No, it isn’t. Minimum requirements are there to show what it will take to get the game to actually start. In no way do minimum requirements relate to running the game optimally.
The game is not working on my i7-720qm, ati 5850, 6gb ram rig.
It does not work on my cousin’s i7-2600, ati 6870, 8gb ram rig.
It works perfectly fine on my friends 5 years old laptop with a 256mb Geforce 9300 graphics card except in WvW.You sir are correct, the problem is indeed with people’s rigs and not Arena Net’s problem.
Seriously, you people have nothing better to do than troll the forums and defend Anet like they’re paying you to do it.
The game works with my i5 laptop intel 3000hd laptop, it works with my friends i7 gtx 580 and my i7 2600k amd 6870. The issue has to be with your drivers or your setup.
Right. It worked fine for two weeks, then after a patch it stops working.
The problem is with my setup.
My drivers are up-to-date and run every other game with minimum effort. Other MMOs included.
This is Anet’s response to a tickets I sent. The reply is merely 10 hours old:

Still think the problem is with my setup?
(edited by Dubious.7403)
Gw2 runs faster for me after the patch so im not convinced that their complaints are any more than a placebo. Also a large majority of people having fps issues have video cards with 512mb or 1gb of vram, when the game easily runs over 1gb on my video cards.
Did you even bother reading my post?
Anet has acknowledged the problem!!! The amount of complaints has risen since Friday’s patch.
Stop letting people think the problem is with their rig. If the game worked fine for two weeks, no reason as to why it shouldn’t keep running like it has.
As I’ve said before, IF the problem continues after Anet fix their problems, only then will your advice be of any worth.

I wonder where is the random troll that will blame this on your PC instead of blaming Anet.
You forgot to mention your specs
What good would that do?
Obviously the problem is not with his computer, nor with anyone else experiencing this low fps issue with a system that passes the minimum requirements. This is Anet’s problem, not our systems.
Ya whats a PCs specs have to do with performance of a game youre trying to run on it. /s
At this time it means jack squat, simply because ALOT of other people, me included, are also experiencing these problems. Anet even replied one my emails stating there’s a problem and they’re working on it.
If his problem will continue after Anet fix their shi t, then and only then will his specs mean something.
It’s a relavant question.
There are loads of people with pc’s below or with barely the minimum requirements making threads about bad performance.
If you will bother reading most of the posts, including the 10 pages long thread about FPS problems, you will see most people began complaining about FPS issues after the September 7 patch.
And as for people who are ‘with just barely minimum requirements’ – They still MEET the requirements as posted by Arena Net. Doesn’t matter by how much. They don’t expect to run the game on highest settings and with an amazing 120 fps.
They all pretty much said they used to run the game on a steady 30 fps prior to Friday’s patch, and that they would like things to go back to the way they were.
As to my system, it is far beyond the minimum requirements. I used to run the game on a steady 45-70 fps on medium- high settings. Now it doesn’t go above 10. I had the exact same problems during the beta events and stress tests. When the game launched the problem pretty much solved itself.
During a month long correspondence with Anet they had NO IDEA what was the cause of the problem, and were just thrilled when it solved itself.
Now the problem is back, and in much, much larger proportions and they do NOT know how to deal with it, just like they didn’t know how to deal with it a month ago.
Want proof I’m not talking shi t?

This is a response I got from Anet today. So please, for the love of God, stop defending Anet. You, and none of the other suck ups on these forums were paid to be their attorneys.
We’re complaining because we paid over 60 bucks on a game that’s barely even working. We’re allowed to do so, because it just might help solve this problem a tad faster if the Anet team sees how important this is.
So next time if you plan on blaming our systems stop for a moment and think, and then crawl back to the hole you came from.
Thank you

I’m not have that problem. I get around 80 FPS, on max settings, while out questing. Around 35-45, under maximum Load, while still on max settings. So, please, don’t make generalizations. I’ve seen numerous posts, from folks posting low-end specs, who think they’re high-end, reporting low FPS, and clamming it must be pervasive. 6-8 FPS actually sounds about right for those specs. I’m not exaggerating. If you haven’t bough a high-end system in the last couple years, you’re not gonna get the performance you’re looking for.
Are youkitten
It’s not like we’ve had these problems since launch day. I was playing just fine on a steady 45-60 fps in sPVP and 20-30 fps in WvW.
My system is by no means high-end, but it is more than capable of running GW2 on med-high settings, as it has been running it for the past two weeks.
i7-720qm
AT 5850
6 GB Ram DDR 3
In addition, what if I told you I’m getting 8 fps on both lowest and highest settings. And if you’d bother looking around you’d see a lot of other people, with HIGH-END PC’s have the same problem.
Anet kitten up and they aren’t owning up to their responsibilities. I’m sick of r etards with their tongue so up Anet’s butt that they can’t accept the truth.
Join the club.
And we all owe our thanks to Anet for taking our money and not even bothering to let us know what’s going on with the issue and if it’s being investigated.
This is not the kind of support you’d expect from a company like Anet.
I’ve been having these FPS issues during the pre-launch period. I’ve been corresponding with their support for a month and all they seemed to do was stalling until they could figure out the problem.
Then came the 25th, and out of nowhere the game began working PERFECTLY fine until yesterday’skitten patch.
Now we’re back to square one – fps isn’t passing the 15 mark. Anet has no solution or no idea what is the cause. Takes them weeks to respond to tickets, if they even bother responding.
I’ve asked for my money back 3 times, they just ignored my request.
After 2 weeks of playing without fps problems, the same kind of FPS problems that I experienced in ALL of the beta events and stress tests are back!
What on earth did you do in your last update to cause this?
