I’m just wondering what they will do with all the core traits that only works in shroud or on activation… Almost half of all the traits have to do with shroud in some way or another. Will they be changed or will they be worthless?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone else noticed the dark aura along with the raven-like feathers around Kerida/Livia when she was in combat? Could this be a hint towards new gear with auras or a specialization related effect?
~The adventures of a follower of Grenth and an undead chick
“As I spawned in the newly discovered place of Siren’s Landing, near the statue of my favorite god, The Dark One, also known as Grenth, I noticed something was wrong…
My body was half submerged in the ground !
Before i knew what was going on I was falling, plummeting downward away from the surface.
Splush
I hit a watery surface and to my great surprise, I was now in an underground lair – the Underwold ! As i looked up i could see the platform of Grenth’s statue hovering in what seemed like nothing at all. (See image 1)
As I regained my bearing I picked up my undead chick and looked around. (See image 2) It was indeed an unexplored place and thus i began my journey in the underworld.
What a sight ! This world was as vast as the one above ! From that moment I knew how lacking my imagination was. The beauty of this place was unmistakable. (See image 3) Unnoticed, I watched as a usually hostile creature went on with its life, never had i been this close. As it gazed towards to sky, It seemed almost . . . majestic. (See image 4)
In an instant hordes of heroes filled my sight, butchering this poor creature and as fast as they had arrived, they were gone. Left in their wake was a butchered, almost unrecognizable creature, only moments ago filled with pride, now bathing in its own innards.
After exploring the underworld in what seemed like days, the loneliness began to take it’s toll. I had to get someone down here to keep me company, but how?
I convinced a guildmember to come close to the thinnest membrane I could find, a membrane seperating the world above and this underground world. My plan was to get him to a state of near death and then, with my abillity Transfusion i could transfer his corporeal body to me, and thus we could be together, FOREVER !
But the procedure failed. The membrane was impenetrable and I was again alone, left only with my undead chick and a witty remark from my guildmate. (See image 5)
And thus my wandering in this underworld continued, awaiting for the opportunity to reenter the surface world. A world filled with so called heroes, and yet, no one had come to my rescue. To this day, my despise towards them grows to unimaginable heights, watching them, without remorse slay and loot the inhabitants of this forsaken place.
By Grenth, they will regret not saving me.

The end.
Aaaaand this is?
The gw2 community do 3 organizations each day. Jump on the teamspeak 40 minutes before they spawn and everything will be explained:

Oh, thanks for clearing that out.
Did anyone notice when Anet implemented a cooldown for Death Nova? It is currently on 1 3/4 sec, but the wiki isn’t up to date. I was really looking forward to combine it with “Rise”, but now it seems it will do limited damage if they die off too quickly after each other.
I know things are constantly changing and getting balanced, but Death Nova with no cooldown was really the only reason I would consider bringing “Rise”.
They made all the previous staff traits baseline, so no it’s not a nerf
Life from Death scales nicely with healing power. It heals for ~2k with ~1k healing power. But healing power isn’t really the most wanted stat on necro :p (at the moment)
Sigil of Leeching and Blood seems not to work through deathshroud after my testings.
Has anyone else tested it?
Condi Nec is viable in pvp too (in my opinion), especially in 1v1 fights. It might not be the easiest nor the fastest build to pull of but i’m doing just fine
Funny you should describe it like that. There is a gw1 assassin skills that does exactly that:
Scorpion Wire:
Half Range Hex Spell. (8…18…20 seconds.) Shadow Step to target foe and cause knock-down the next time this foe is more than 100’ away from you.
Hi fellow necromancers !
I’d like to add some of my own suggestions to how life force could be spend and if possible, even out the amount of utility the necromancer have compared to the other classes.
Currently Death Shroud only prolongs the inevitable (when under focus of more than one player) since the skills provided have no real defensive mechanics like; conditioncleasing, healing (the actual healthbar) or moveability to retrieve and start anew. I feel like a meatbag waiting to be sliced, while Death Shroud only adds a few extra layers.
If Life Force instead was a resource that could be spend offensive, defensive or as a movement mechanism, it would give the necromancer additional options in fights, since gaining an extra “health bar” isn’t profitable against the other classes’ stuns and conditions. A few examples could be:
1 – Spend your lifeforce to give you and your allies a life syphoning effect to your attacks (similar to Signet of Vapirism, but as a boon-ish effect instead)
2 – Gain a huge movement boost depending on the amount of life force spend
3 – Spend lifeforce to gain a infectious aura that copies incoming conditions to the source
4 – – | | – to gather incoming damage. Deal x% of the damage to nearby foes. (opposite of the warrior’s Defiant Stance)
5 – – | | – the gain Defiance/x stacks of stability depending on the amount of life force used.
6 – – | | – Curse a foe, so they take damage when they recieve a new boon (could synergy with our boon removals)
7 – – | | – gain x% of retaliation damage as health (someone on the forum came up with that one as a trait, and I like it !)
8 – - | | – Gain Resistance while recieving all damage nearby allies would have recieved. (Vortex of Pain/Agony)
Aaand the list could go on…
I know some of you came up with some interesting ideas, so keep ’em coming and hopefully anet will suck it in at some point !
I actually love the idea of the revenant’s Legendary Demon Stance, which has condition synergy, but I really feel like the skills would fit the necromancer better as a conditionmanipulator.
When i played necromancer in gw1 i enjoyed watching my foe hurt himself under the influence of my hexes, but now i feel like the core of the necromancer has been spread out in the form of boons (retaliation) and conditions, which every other class has access and can even produce at a much higher rate.
I loved sacrificing my own health the the sake of my teammembers (blood is power, order of pain, etc.), stealing my foe’s source of power (Malaise, Wither), spoiling the enemy team’s synergy (Soul Bind, Spoil Victor) and spreading infectios diseases ! Tormenting was all I wanted to do as a necromancer.
I wouldn’t mind if the necromancer got sacrificing abilities which could do more harm than good if used in the wrong situations, but with an enourmous positive effect if done in the right situations. The current Corruption skills are the closest we get to such a tradeoff and i’m not really feeling the masochism.
I want to feel evil again !
I am really hoping for some goodies from the new expansion in the theme of necromancy, but i’m not sure if i want to get my hopes too high, considered nothing new or inspirational in the traitline.
Forever a meatba.. ehh … Necromancer !
